I made a trip over to Rivers Bend Bar and Grill and it was a great time. The staff was amazing. I saw many reviews on the place saying the service was not good. I did not have that experience at this location. I walked in and I was asked what I wanted to drink and was not sure. The server was on top of things and checked on me several times. I did not feel as if the service was bad. I glanced around and others were getting taken care of promptly. I only had drinks here and no food but the place is clean and the staff was very friendly. I hope to make it back there again to review their food but speaking to a few of the people there I heard good things about the food from other people. The beer was ice cold and they did have a large selection non alcoholic beers it looked like. I will go back to try their food. They have some golf putting area that well I don't understand how and why golf but people like golf. There are other classic bar things in here including bingo. I will need to take a trip here on a festive evening and give it a second rating. read more

Our waitress, Marisha, sprayed me with table cleaner and then ignored us while we waited to place our order. The burgers were NOT well done as requested (pink in the middle). And tasted like some kind of rancid road kill. I couldn't eat it at all. They nickel and dime you for every condiment. Their burgers used to be good (like Short Stop in CR). Sis and I wanted to try a new place while out and about, and we happened to see this bar and grill on St. Francis Blvd. Adequate parking. Tricky getting out to head south or east though. Must head north and make a U-turn. Walking in, it was seat yourself. No tables/ booths left, but we found a high top near the pull tab booth. Waited for about 10 mins. Didn't see any staff besides the bartender. I walked up to get menus. Was handed only 1 and told we had a waittress for our section. We eventually met our waittress to place water and food orders. This was the only time we saw her besides getting the waters. A man brought out our food about 20 mins later. Fries were starting to cool off, so who knows how long they were sitting in the kitchen. Sis like the Buffalo, mouth was on fire. I ordered the Philly. I was not a fan of the au jus... no flavor. Just made the tortilla soggy. Seasoned Sour Cream was okay. Could have had more flavor too. Good thing I took photos of the menu because we never got the bill... because the waitress never came back to see how things were tasting or if we needed refills. You need to NEVER have your thermostat at 68 degrees. 72/74 will suffice. Heat or cool. There is no reason in the summer we have to wear winter clothes & in the winter we have to wear extra layers because it's too cold in the bar. Oh, also, it saves money when you don't over cool the bar because you set it at 68. read more

Nasty place with mouse turds on the bar!!! Some of the worst service I've ever experienced! Upon walking in at 3:00 on a Friday afternoon we reluctantly sat at the bar after discovering that all of the tables were disgustingly full of grime and food waste. The bartender promptly brought us menus and took our drink orders. 10 minutes passed of her making awkward eye contact but not ever delivering our beverages. In fact two parties came in and sat on both sides of us at the bar and were immediately served their drinks. Another patron walked up and was served immediately as well. After several more minutes of this complete lack of service we left to another local establishment where we received quality service. Avoid this place unless you want to contract hantavirus from the disgusting rodent infestation. This place is a disgrace to the town! Shameful! read more

WAY better the 2nd time around! My wife and I took a chance and we stopped by for the second time yesterday, Friday night. GOOD: They did a way better job this time. It was really busy. But we were greeted and served drinks right away. The drinks were good. The food was also very good and it came out fast. It only took 10 minutes for our burgers. The servers and the bar tender were also friendly and on top of everything. BAD: The only bad thing was a bunch low class customers! Not all of them...but enough to wreck it for everyone. Several groups of patrons throughout the bar were totally smashed, rude, loud, inconsiderate, obnoxious and totally oblivious to other people around them. One middle-aged woman next to us (she seemed to be a regular who knew EVERYONE) was hugging & groping 2 dudes, rubbing her fat ass against them, and talking non-stop about sex and penises. It was funny for the first 5 minutes. After an hour, it was sickening. There were other shenanigans on the other side of the bar. There was no escape. I'm not sure what to think about all of this. Of course, Rivers Bend can't help who walks in the front door. I'd probably try Rivers Bend one more time. Or I can just come earlier in the day. First time being at Riversbend, on a tip from friends that the food was delicious. It indeed was. The steak bites were great, and the broasted chicken was delicious -- some of the best I've had. The one knock comes when we got the bill. At the bottom was a disclaimer that the menu prices were listed as "cash prices" and if paying by credit card, they'd tack on an additional % as a fee. Now I'm fine with the fee if they disclose [in advance] that their menu prices are cash prices, but it was nowhere to be found. Seems a bit of a slippery move to me, and that's sad. read more

Tried the 8 piece Broasted Chicken after reading a dozen or so community FB posts. All I can say is, why the heck did I not know about this long ago? This chicken is easily some of the best I've ever had. The 8 piece was the perfect size for my wife, 2 toddlers and I. We also ordered 2 side salads and mashed potatoes and gravy. Impressive. I have never seen a place with such crappy reviews and is actually a great place! My guess when they opened they kind of sucked the big one but now they really seem to have their groove on. Prices like most places in this area everything is fairly cheap, their happy hour is stupid long and stupid cheap. Buy one get one from 11am to 6pm on all tap beers!! Like who does that?! And $3 off apps during that time too. There wasn't a single item of food without meat on their menu, so that was a bit disheartening in this day and age but when I special ordered some nachos they accommodated easily. Some places look at me like I asked them to create a a 3 tier wedding cake in 5 minutes. I'm serious btw many places that only serve meat seem to be offended if I request meatless anything. So overall the staff was really accommodating, food was good and fast. Place looked neat and clean. I've been to this place a handful of times and it is just so so. If you order a burger rare you will get it well done every time. The help is also so so. Sometimes you get responsive help but most of the time not. Truth be told it is a white trash joint with a lot of power drinkers. The music always suits the clientele. The last time we were there a drunken jerk reached his hand into my basket of fries to eat from our table! Fortunately my best friend snatched the clown's hand and made him put down the fries! Meh... for sure not the neighborhood Restaurant/bar I was hoping it would be. Greatly disappointed. The bartender/waitress at lunch time was fabulous! That's about as far as my impressed face goes. We ordered a few things to try, as we always do when trying out a new place. We got wings, cheeseburger, queso and chips, and a salad. The wings were soggy and extremely fatty compared to usual bar wings (no fat rendering whatsoever) and lacked flavor, the cheeseburger looked amazing... but it wasn't. They add some weird spice blend with mustard seeds, caraway, fennel and rosemary... not complimentary at all, especially when they didn't use any salt. The queso had good flavor, but was a congealed blob of processed cheese food, the chips were oddly soft, and disintegrated when you ate them. The salad could have been good, minus the rotten pieces of lettuce, weird chunks of white onion, and the moldy cheese. The lettuce could have been more crisp/fresh, especially for $4. They up charge for fries/waffle fries or other choice of sides. Most places don't have an up charge for those anymore... since the 80's are over. I really wanted to like this place, but it seems like they just rebranded the previous place, which was awful, and don't even have the awesome burgers they had then, the only good thing. I should have known when it was peak lunch rush and we were the only ones eating there... and the area doesn't have a ton of choices to eat. I hope they amp up their restaurant because they could have a gold mine there, there's nothing like it around, and we need something like this in the area!!! Maybe offer fresh cut fries to set apart from other places and make it a destination place! Sad to say, I won't be going back any time soon. A group of us stopped in for dinner and it was about 1/3 full. We got menus right away but the waitress didn't come back for about 25 minutes. We finally asked the bartender to ask the waitress to come back. She blew him off, so he came over to start taking our food order. He got about 1/2 way through our group and then the waitress decided to come back and took the other half of our order. The food came out about 30 minutes later. My "melt sandwich" was cold and several others had similar complaints. We had to go to get drinks from the bartender because the waitress was never around. Overall, bad service and even worse food. This place could be so much better. Have been a few times for lunch and each time i ask myself why did i go back? The Penalty Box was actually much better, and that isn't saying much. If you go for lunch here is what you can expect; One server/bartender for the whole restaurant, which should be doable, except that she spends the majority of her time yucking it up with the regulars sitting at the bar, most of which are in some degree of intoxication. If you are not sitting at the bar, even if you are and are not a regular, you will have to wait a while to get waited on or even acknowledged. Once you get your beverage ordered ( you may want to order food at the same time because you never know when you will see the wait person again) you will wait again to place your food order. Then you will wait for your food to arrive and of course by then some part of your meal will be cold. You will get warm burger/cold fries, cold burger/ warm fries, or some combination thereof. You will not get hot food of any sort nor will you ask them to bring you warmer versions of what you received, because then you will wait again and again. For a neighborhood place like this you should be able to go in order a drink, order your food, get it at least warm, pay and get out in 45 mins or less. Every time we have been here it takes over an hour for mediocre food and terrible service. read more

I've been here twice now, the first was a couple weeks after they opened. Service was slow and the place was not busy. Given they just opened, i figured they had some kinks to work out and staff was learning still. My wife and I decided to stop in and give it another try. The customer service was terrible. We walked in and didn't see any host or servers nearby to greet us. We sat ourselves which is normal at a lot of places and with plenty of tables available we sat next to the bar. We waited a good 5-10 minutes and still NO service. Not a hello or someone will be with you, we got nothing. After waiting the 5-10 minutes in a hot and stuffy building we got up and left. They have Bingo on Saturday nights once a month, which is always really popular and they don't really have that much space, so I tried to call ahead to make a reservation, which they were not willing to do. Okay, understandable. So then we get there OVER and hour before Bingo starts and all the tables are "reserved." Now here's the messed up part- they were not all full, but there were at least 5-6 people that were sitting at a table BY THEMSELVES and had 2-3 other tables pulled together that were "reserved for Bingo." How is that okay? I can understand if one person gets there early and they're holding the other 2-3 seats at the table for the rest of their party, but pulling multiple other tables and chairs with an additional 5-6 seats that could be occupied by other people over an hour before Bingo starts? If they're going to allow that, then why refuse to take reservations? Needless to say, we'll be finding a new place to play Bingo. read more
