I have had some good service there in the past, not great but good. This past experience even though had to go back in for a couple more issues after the initial repair was great. Martin in the service department was so easy to deal with and made the whole experience a great one. He had a loaner ready for the first repair and when we had to bring it back he held one for us as soon as we let him know there were a couple issues with the repair. Stay away! Learned my lesson good. Drive west or anywhere other than this dealership who lie to you, don't do the repairs they say, hold your car hostage and act like they are doing you a favor. After my property flooded last year and I lost my Ford Explorer I went back to the same dealership where my husband also purchased his Ford F150 from.... I bought a used GMC Acadia, we found out when we came to pick it up. It had been in an accident that they did not disclose..... months later the paint started peeling off my grill I took it down there and they will do nothing about it... If you love to be BSed and lied to, this is the dealership for you! Purchased my 2025 Yukon may 2025. Salesperson wasn't very friendly, but seemed straightforward which I appreciated instead of not getting straight answers. Was told they work with my chosen bank I wanted and they would handle the loan- called me with the rate after I left the deposit and it was 2% higher than the credit union posted on their site. Was given excuses and told there was no way I would get their listed rate- went to credit union that day, got approved for and finalized the loan at the rate that was posted (so did not go through dealership for this)- that was lie 1 but okay, whatever worked out for me. Schedule everything, confirm all numbers via text with salesperson, get there and am told very casually all the sudden that I have to write a personal check for a "discrepancy" in price difference. I was so fed up by the principle of it I told them to give me the keys to my trade in back I was done, so they panicked backtracked and wrote it off to close the deal. Fast forward- it's now November 2025, 4k miles and my husband noticed a tear on the sidewall of the tire. We knew we had to replace it, so I called riverhead GMC and told them, asked if there was any warranty. The service rep I spoke with was so friendly and accommodating, agreed needed to be replaced immediately, assured me it was covered under warranty. I texted her a photo of it and she said was so accommodating she got me an appointment same day and again confirmed it would be covered under warranty, and that they would do full servicing at the appointment as well. We live 45 minutes away but my husband left work early, took our two kids and two cars out there, drop the truck off. A half hour later I get a call saying there was "concrete dust" on the tire which meant I hit a curb? And it would not be covered. Obviously we're very annoyed at this point since we ran around to go out there due to them telling us it was covered- we get back there and my husband goes to look at the tire with the mechanic, who tells her he has no idea why anyone would tell her anything about concrete dust. After my husband explains that we drove all the way out there because it was confirmed it was covered, they agree to cover it. We leave again, come back to pick up the truck and the paperwork shows that tire rotation occurs but my husband sees it did not. Paperwork also showed that the tire pressures were checked, we checked them when we got home and they were all off, so that obviously also didn't occur. There was glue residue covering my tire rims that the mechanics left, so my husband went to clean it off and now noticed I was given a different spec tire replacement. We are currently in the market for a GMC sierra 2500 and cannot stress enough how much we will avoid this dealership, which is unfortunate when I've spent 80k with them and all I expected was to not feel lied to and taken advantage of throughout every experience with them. read more

Where to start? During a recent road trip from South Carolina to NY, I experienced warning lights going off on my 2022 Buick Envision. I have been out of NY for a few years and was shocked at the different levels of service between the southern GMC dealership and the Riverhead one. I have been especially pleased with the level of service in South Carolina. Appointments are easy to make; customers are assigned a service tech, and during the service process, the customer is updated by text on what is happening. I often wait for service in a waiting room with comfy seats, big-screen TVs, snacks, and soft drinks. They have a great cappuccino machine! A service advisor will come to get you and your car is valeted to the front door after it has been run through the car wash. I must say I have had great experiences getting my car serviced. At Riverhead GMC, all that feel-good, fuzzy feeling about GMC service ended. I had to wait a week for an appointment but dropped the car off a few days early. They did not have a loaner program, so I was forced to rent a car. Since one of the warning lights was about a check engine, I didn't want to drive the car. My appointment was for Monday, and at the end of Monday afternoon, I didn't get a call about the status of my car. Tuesday came, and still no call. I stopped at the dealership on Wednesday to inquire what was happening and found out the car wasn't looked at.I asked nicely if they could communicate going forward as to the status, but apparently, that is not their thing. The only way to get info was to go there in person. I finally did get a call that they fixed the car. They said I needed a new battery on my 2022 vehicle, ok, I guess, so I forked over $400 for a new battery, returned the rental ($600)l, and chalked up the experience to a $1000 battery. I paid the bill and asked where I could find my car and was told to look in the lot!! No valet, no specialty coffee, and no car wash, and I'm not sure I ever got a thank you. Ok, Dorothy, you are not in Kansas anymore or, in my case, South Carolina. On my way home, the engine light goes on. I called and told the nice lady that my car was not fixed and requested they take a look at it. At this point, the conversation with the dealership is more like, "Who's on first?" "What's on second," and yes, I would have to make an appointment and wait. Throwing caution to the wind, I drove the car back to South Carolina and took my chances. Did I sweat the whole 15 hours? yeah, I did, but I'm smart enough not to throw good money after bad. Upon arriving home, I took my car to my GMC dealership, had a cappuccino and a can of Pringles, and waited for my text telling me my car is ready. Another $200 was added to the battery. It seems someone didn't tighten a bolt on a battery relay, and that was the issue. This is not to pick on Riverhead GMC this is more a reflection of the level of service post-Covid in America. It is not so much the lack of service or screw-ups it's the lack of communication that really irked me. One doesn't need business consultants or focus groups to figure that out. If you can't do the basics why would I let you under the hood of my automobile? The end of the story is I traded the Buick in for a Genesis with a 5-year 60k mile warranty that includes valet service with loaner cars and this ending my 7 new car run with GMC/Buick. read more

Leased a brand new 2025 Sierra SLT Diesel on Wednesday from Riverhead GMC As I left the lot to drive home a message came on the dashboard that the AC was shutting off bc the engine was overheating I assumed a faulty sensor However minutes from my house the engine shut off saying the engine had overheated I CHECKED THE COOLANT AND THERE WAS NONE IN THE RESEVOIR!!! They picked up the car the next day and brought for service Three days later I have no disposition and cannot get in touch with service I called the salesman today to let them know I want a different truck bc its obvious this is more than a simple leak I asked to speak to a manager No one has called me to respond and all attempts to contact service go to the voucemail I ve never had an experience like this ever !!!! Worse service department ever visited!!!! It's been over three weeks and truck is still not ready, service department originally had said 3 days. This a new truck with only 8000 miles and what is a readily available part (driveshaft), that these clowns were unable to locate. To top things off the staff are either dim or just plain common, who when asked of a courtesy vehicle played dumb, and did not know how to even go about getting a rental vehicle, while my truck was collecting dust waiting for a simple drive shaft. Finally, after being called by the service department and informed the truck was ready, when I went to pick it up a few days later some airhead clerk claimed the truck is still not ready to be picked up due to needing to be road tested. PS this dealer tries their best not to honor warranties, we own both a BMW and another foreign model and there is never an issue with warranties, delayed parts, and curtesy vehicles. One of the worst service department my husband and I have ever dealt with. If I could give it no stars I would. My husband's truck is not even a year old yet and it started leaking transmission fluid. We had it towed to Riverhead for them to fix it because it is under warranty. It took them 3-4 days before they even looked at it. They told us what's wrong with it and they ordered the parts. We asked to see the broken parts and they told us we couldn't see them because they had to ship them out. We asked for a loaner car and they said they didn't have any. 2 week later they finally gave us a loaner car. told us they are taken the truck apart now as I was picking up the loaner. I went to take a look to see if this was true and I seen the truck sitting in the parking lot. Not even being worked on. We ended up making a complaint to GMC customer care. Customer care started looking into it and told us Riverhead never even ordered the parts. Going on 3 weeks now without having the truck. We are making payments and paying insurance on something that we can't even use. I never ever had this issue with Toyota. This will be the last GMC we will ever buy. read more

I'm not a fan of the "Car Salesman Dance" to begin with. I dread it every few years. I do diligent research, approach the situation calmly and reasonably ready to be ripped off one way or another with my checkbook in hand. It's a tolerance game, at what point do I just want to get the heck out of there and cut my loses? How many more times do I have it in myself to walk away before a slue of follow up calls? How many renditions of Chopsticks do I need to watch the salesman do on the calculator? How many build your own adventure finance approaches even are there? The magical appearing rebates, don't get me started! Ultimately we just say to ourselves "fine, get me out of here" and drive off into the sunset... Where I draw the line is being lied too. I was truly a loyal GMC customer, a shoe in; over miles, ready to pull ahead on my lease, excited to upgrade to a luxury car, up my miles Package and needed to buy a new work van before the summer. Well, I won't let the door hit me on the you-know-what on the way out. Gaining a loyal customer is really really hard, losing one is even harder. But blatant "look you in the eye" "trust me" type lying is a deal breaker, it's bad business, it crushes trust. It's too bad because I like the team over there, lots of laughs, fun vibe, it's been years I've been in and out! You know the horror stories that can sometimes come from people that deal with auto dealerships. I am a firm believer that sometimes you have to deal with the people that really know their cars to get satisfaction. My car, which is a 21 year old Cadillac, was giving me a problem for the past 2 years in a way that my battery would drain for no apparent reason. I tried just about everything in the book to locate the issue. The last 2 months really got me going. I had a new battery installed in January and by March it starting going dead on me at least twice a week. The last time it happened a noise was coming from the trunk so my partner recorded it on his phone and I played it back for the service advisor and he had a gut feeling he knew what it was. Mr. John Consoli, was the service advisor and told me to bring it in and he would do a test on the car. It took him about 10 minutes to find the issue, and even though I had to leave the car there for 2 and a half weeks ( ordered parts etc.) the car is now up and running like new. I could not ask for better service that what I received at Riverhead Buick GMC. John Consoli went out of his way to make sure the car was properly repaired. Thank you John! read more

While waiting in waiting area, shop foreman comes into waiting area and tells everyone he talks to one on one that they need wheel alignment. Now it was my turn, he takes me in shop and tells me same thing , that I need wheel alignment also.I tell him NO and he gets all mad and tells me my warranty will be void. Never again! read more

Waited 3 hours for an oil change and alignment. Guy came out and showed me a missing bolt that was on the truck a day before. Claimed I should look at replacing a caliper because they removed a bolt. This isn't the first time they have done this to my vehicle. They try to sell you stuff that you don't need. My family and me will never buy or bring a vehicle here ever again. I had an excellent salesman when I purchased my car, but he no longer works there. The other people in sales seem incredibly friendly and even tho I purchased my car from a different person, they are always happy to see me when I come in and they let me use their desks to do personal work while i wait for my car if one of them is free. Ryan behind the service counter is the best, I make sure when i come in that he is going to be there and I won't deal with anyone else. The other guys behind the service counter.... not so friendly. The prices are high, but the service is good. The people that make the place great, make it great, despite a couple of people who shouldn't have a position in customer service. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Sales manager Tom, Service manager Pete and ESPECIALLY service counter dude Jeff need to go to customer service camp big time! Been a customer there for years, this being my second new purchase from GMC Riverhead. True colors in customer service come out when troubles come about. Short story is: new 2019 car breaks down TWICE (emissions/transmission system issue) both times at high speed on the highway on an attempt to get to a wedding upstate New York. First time Grand Prize GMC helped us out so we could at least get home (thank you!). On the way home tried to contact GMC Riverhead to order the part and Jeff at counter couldn't be bothered to get this done. Next day they managed to find a part somewhere, but waited till next day to continue our travel so we would not be traveling in the dark. Broke again 2.5 hours into the trip. My son came up from Long Island to pick us up take us to Rochester and then take us home. GMC Riverhead did not pick up car with a flatbed tow as stated but drove it home in its damaged state. Week plus 2 days later (no communication in between but once) they said car is "fixed now". No compensation for my troubles plus ~300 miles (150 back from upstate & 120 clowning around with test drives) on my car that I did not put on myself! Service manager Pete didn't even come out to speak to me, I had to go to his office to see if there would be any compensation for my troubles with a brand new vehicle as he had promised at second break down. What a breath of fresh air; (More like an oxygen tank of fresh air!) I cannot even begin! Car buying at Riverhead Buick GMC didn't even feel like I was dealing with a car dealership. After several unsavory experiences with scummy, rude car dealers, I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I walked into this dealership. First, I was greeted in a friendly manner, but not so overly friendly where it felt disingenuous. The woman up front told me that Jane (Kolbenheyer), the car dealer I was assigned with, would be with me in a few minutes, which was literally not even a few minutes. Jane and I had previously spoken over the phone to set up an appointment, so I was expected, however, I've been expected at other dealerships, and ended up waiting forever until I was finally helped. The dealership is on a smaller scale, which is wonderful because you really feel cared for and you are not overwhelmed. From the moment I shook hands with Jane, I knew this would be a very pleasant and comfortable experience. She was professional on a very humble and sincere level. I had a particular car in mind, a 2010 Honda CRV EX-L, not certified. (Which is what I wanted due to the advice of my very close friend, who is a great mechanic. He said that the extra couple or few thousand dollars you spend for it to be certified will be much greater of an expense than any expense from an issue you will find with the car within the warranty period. Of course that's when you're buying through a reputable car dealership, that is not going to sell you a lemon.) We got right into the car and test drove it and it drove like a dream. The whole entire time, Jane was not pressuring me in any way, nor did she talk about financing with them. She also did not try and persuade me to buy a certified pre-owned car, which were topics immediately discussed at the other dealerships. In fact, all we talked about were the details of the car and making small talk. She felt like a good friend whom I'd known for a long time. I instantly fell in love with the car. When we spoke in the dealership at her desk, I told her that I was also interested in another car at a Honda dealership. (Which I truly was.) She mentioned to me, in a very discreet way, that the particular dealership I was referring to was not very trustworthy and slyly snuck in extra fees. She did not say this in order to gain the sale; she was truly looking out for my best interest. (FYI-when I googled this online, I found out that the Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, recently indicted a whole string of Atlantic dealerships on the island for misleading customers with false advertisements and misleading promotions, including fraudulent sales tactics. To this day I'm still thankful for the warning. It all just came naturally from her, and because of that, I took her word for it. Again, there was not an iota of pressure from her or anybody else, which was the main concern for me. That bit of information certainly helped me make my decision much easier and my decision was to buy this CRV! I asked for $300 off the price, which she went to check with the manager. She came back only a couple of minutes later and agreed to it, which was wonderful, considering other dealerships make you wait and play games with you. I knew I was getting a great deal, as I already knew the KBB value of the car and knew my facts going into this process. She then introduced me to Michael Lucki, the business manager at the dealership. He was a very friendly guy, and just as I had expected, not an ounce of dominance from him or pressure to finance through them. He had written out all of my options in order for me to completely understand what my monthly costs would be and what the overall costs would be. Very, very courteous and patient guy. When I went to pick up my car 3 days later, I was greeted by a very smiley Jane. When I was ready to leave with my car, in the most friendly and genuine manner, I received a great big hug from her! I bought my car three months ago, and am only reviewing this dealership now because I wanted to make sure my car was free of any problems and it is in fact problem-free! There are only a few things which I wish I noticed before buying the car; the fuse for the rear shield wiper was not connected, which was an easy fix. Also, the cargo area did not come with the cargo shelf/cover, which was my fault for not noticing it when Jane showed me that area. Lastly, there is a tear in the upholstery on the car roof which I should have noticed but didn't. Had I known, I would have asked for that to be fixed while it was getting detailed. Otherwise, an excellent buy and an excellent choice for a dealership; trustworthy and sincere. I have recommended them to many people so far and will continue to do so. Even if you are not looking for a Buick or GMC, they have many pre-owned cars of different makes to choose from.
