A beautiful way to spend a day is down on Wilmington's riverfront. There is much to do and see. Many restaurants and shops line the area including Joe's Crab Shack, Iron Hill Brewery and Big Fish to name a few, but perhaps the best thing to do is just walk. The scenery along the river is beautiful and stretches a good mile maybe two. If you're really feeling nature inspired you can make your way all the way down to Russell Peterson Wildlife Refuge and the DuPont Environmental Center. This landscape seems to be ever evolving as well. There is always something new to explore and there are plenty of chairs and benches to for rest and relaxation.

Had a nice time with my wife having dinner, walking along the water front and having drinks at the beer garden.

Absolutely excellent!…read more My Delaware-living family member was right on track when she recommended Scalessa's! When she compared it to our all time favorite Italian South Jersey (Fieni's) - we were in! Scalessa's is quaint, warm, and boasts a decent sized menu. The gnocchi was tender and pillowy with a great sauce. The seafood was delicious and fresh! Everyone loved his/her dishes! We met the owner, which I always like. The huge portions allowed us to take home leftovers (not a typical thing for me!). Our dessert of (shared) choice was butter cake - wow! Super yummy just like my grandmother turned us on to many moons ago! Since I'll be spending more time in Delaware - we'll be stopping again!!! :) A DEFINITE MUST TRY !!! Thanks Jules !

I know this may be an unpopular opinion but honestly I thought this was just average Italian food…read more I'd go again because there wasn't anything wrong with it but I wasn't wow'd. I tried the meatball appetizer - it was decent but not really anything special. For dinner I had the chicken parm in a blush sauce which came with a side of gnocchi and my dining partner had grandmas Sunday gravy, again both decent. We skipped dessert because it was a decent amount of food. The other thing I'll mention is you're going to want to make reservations if you go. The entire restaurant seats what seems like 30 people.

List of true stories that make us say, "That's soooo Media!"…read more 1.) 6 unintoxicated Baby Boomer women in Santa Hats, with long gray hair poking out, walking down State Street on a Friday night, singing Christmas carols (totally serious about it), ringing a bell to get attention. 2.) Resident with bumper sticker that says, "Who would Jesus bomb?" on a BMW Mini. 3.) Walking our dogs down the street, 11pm, after the "Great Garage Sale." We pass unsold garage sale stuff piled at the street (for trash) at a Victorian apartment house. Some bearded guy in bare feet is lying on the lawn in the dark. He jumps up (scares the s#*! out of us) and says, "See something you like?" (totally serious, trying to make a late-night trash sale) 4.) Gorgeous architecture everywhere! Gothic, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Georgian, Italianate, Colonial, Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial, Queen Anne, Neoclassical, Edwardian, Federal, Shingle Style, Shotgun, Foursquare, Prairie, Modern, Second Empire, etc. And interesting history! (*See Minshall House and Dr. Samuel D. Risley House on Wiki!) 5.) People take the whole day off to have a boozing lawn party during the annual Media 5 Mile Race. 6.) Witnessing a car drive 15mph around the corner of 6th and Olive, then run up onto the curb, against a tree, and fall onto its driver side, stuck completely up on its end, driver wasted and unconscious. Called police, and was asked to approach and determine if driver needed emergency help. Are you f-ing kidding me? NOT my job! The dude pretty clearly needs help, STAT, no matter what.
