I took my son to write the learner's license exam. I was charged fifty cents to use my debit card…read moreto pay. He passed the exam so I had to pay another fifty cents for the license itself. There is signage saying they do not take credit cards. A busy location raking in fifty cents every time someone uses their debit card with no options other than cash. Obviously the owner of this business is trying to be a rebel of some kind by this type of action. Before I hear "I do this because of the fees the banks/credit card companies charge" please don't waste your breath. This is a money grab and makes you, the owner and decision-maker look like a cheapskate. Also, there is an air of indifference in this place that is not attractive. The gloomy decor matches the attitudes and the policies. Will definitely not be going back and won't encourage anyone I know to either.

0* is not an option…read more Poorly managed driver's license renewals. Go somewhere else for now. I came here on the morning of Monday, October 5 to renew my driver's license, and the whole process took approximately 2 hours. I understand the renewal process recently changed, and that isn't this office's fault. What is their fault is how they handled it. Management knew demand would be high and there would be delays, but they didn't put a workable process in place. Only two agents were assigned to the driver's license line, while five agents worked the other line. The other line moved at least five times faster than ours. A sign in our line said they were short-staffed, and signs on the other terminals said they weren't set up for the new process. Even so, the two agents assigned to licenses kept stepping away to help people with unrelated tasks. When I finally reached the front, a woman who had just walked in went straight to the counter. She may have had a road test appointment, but my agent dropped everything to help her. At one point three agents were helping her, including while she made a phone call, and everyone else just waited. Then an agent from the other side called me over. It was the first time I'd seen anyone from that side help our line. I told him I had already rated the office poorly and wanted to explain why to the manager. He was extremely confrontational and clearly isn't trained to handle customer complaints. In the end, my renewal got done. I asked to speak with a manager and was told he was on lunch and I could come back tomorrow. That afternoon I emailed the manager, so he'd have a chance to hear my concerns. Four days later, I still haven't received a reply. In that email I said I'd share my experience here and on Reddit, and that I'd update this post if we could resolve things. That hasn't happened. This post will serve as a complaint about the staff member My issue is with management. I'm also sending my complaint to the Alberta government department that oversees registries. I blame management for this, not the new rules. When a customer brings them a problem, they don't even try to fix it. They've lost my business for good. If you need to renew your license, I'd suggest going somewhere else until they're equipped to handle it. If this post doesn't get management's attention, nothing will.

Horrible woman behind the counter, who seems to be a sociopath, with zero empathy for customers…read more Should never be allowed to work in a customer-facing job. She thinks that customers are a nuisance and if her eyes behind her little glasses could spit fire, I think she would do so. I am never going back there, and the sad thing is that this lack of service could easily be avoided. I went to the Marda Loop Registry and everyone there is very kind and helpful.

Heads up for anyone booking a drivers' exam, the online portal for drivers' license bookings says…read moreto arrive 30min before the test, with the earliest slot being 9:00, but the registry opens at 9:00. I arrived at 8:30am for my 9:00am slot. The email you get emphasizes the importance of punctuality. By following this direction, I was apparently needlessly early. Staff got there around 8:45, which was fine, but I think either the email or booking system needs to be adjusted--for example, the first slot could be placed at 9:15 or 9:30. This would probably be better for staff too. This created a sense of confusion before the test (wondering if they had received my booking or the test would make me late getting back to work), and also wasted my friend's time who had taken the time to get up early and come with me. I also got hit with an extra charge for using my credit card when renewing my registration on an earlier day. Staff/examiners are overall polite. I've lived in provinces where the registries are not privatized, and have found the service to be more organized with more transparent pricing.

He spoke way too quietly to hear and gave directions both too early and too late. Despite that, I was able to follow them for the most part. Please reevaluate him because he told me to cut a pedestrian despite there being a stop sign and them having the right of way. He's old and bitter and should not be working in that position. He was only there to get my money and had the audacity to say see you next time like he didn't just fail me. No manners whatsoever, harsh criticism that makes you feel insignificant, and an attitude that rivals a toddler. When he entered before my exam he came in alone because he failed the person before me. If you are going to take the road test don't go here. Two of my brothers came here to test and both got failed, mind you they both now have full licenses and have had no accidents. We thought the same guy might've already retired but he's still taking people's money. On a final note he spoke horrid English. He struggled to tell me what went wrong and his grammar was subpar. I'd expect better eloquence from someone in a position with such authority.
