So I found Dandy auto on kijiji. They were running a special on $49 out of province inspections. I made an appt over the phone and they fit me in really fast. They got our business for two reasons - 1. They were very reasonably priced. . 2. They were the only company I called that actually picked up their phone. ( Cassandra goes above and beyond to make sure all calls are picked up, shes super woman) I got my truck in, it took about 4 hours but they were really through. I got a small list of things that needed to repaired to pass inspection and they gave me a reasonable quote. My husband however used this as an excuse to try out a different shop that is run by a family member. So we came back to our re inspection. I was quoted 30-1 hour. About 15 minutes into it, I was pulled into the service bay to have a talk. The shop we had just taken our truck to botched our rear breaks and then tried to cover it up. Bryan the service technician carefully and in great detail showed me the damage. He explained what the other mechanic did and what he tried to do to 'fix' it. If you want to call it that. The break was a ticking time bomb and eventually I would have lost my breaks. I am so thankful to Bryan that he caught this and repaired it. So we ordered all the parts and he went away to work. Unfortunately the caliper bracket didnt make it to us on time and I had to wait (at no fault to them) for 7 hours with a toddler. Cassandra did everything in her power to make sure I had supplies to entertain my daughter. Everyone was so nice and forgiving that my tiny terror was running around and occasionally screaming. At the end of the day it became obvious that the part wasn't coming in time. Cassandra called around to get me a rental, but everyone was booked out. And do you know what? I was stranded. Bryan the tech DROVE US HOME. He totally went out of his way to help us, we didn't have very many options to get home. So they got the part this morning and fixed up the truck. It cost us nearly double what Dandy quoted us when it was all said and done. In hindsight we should of just let them do it. I'm so thankful for Cassandra, Bryan and the entire Dandy crew. Bryan will be the only person working on our truck from here on out. read more

My daughter was en route from Calgary to Saskatchewan recently on a Friday evening when her car quit. Her auto insurance would only tow to the closest repair shop which, unfortunately, was Dandy Auto Marine Rv Ltd in Airdrie. At the request of the repair shop she sent a detailed message describing exactly what had happened leading up to the vehicle stalling including sequence of dash lights coming on etc. They said this was so they could save time during the diagnostic process. On Monday she was called and told the problem had been rectified and was only an alternator fuse which had needed replacing. She arrived to find a $300 bill for parts and labour including a $40.00 charge for recharging the battery. She had no choice but to pay the bill in order to get her car back. Shortly thereafter, Her car wouldn't start in the parking garage at work and the tow truck driver who was summoned discovered that one of her battery cables was so loose it could be lifted off the post by hand. These clowns should be avoided at all costs! read more

My partner and I both had our vehicles safetied here (moved from out of province) using their kijiji special which was way cheaper than anywhere else. We were pleasantly surprised when the only thing they found wrong with my car was the tires which was legitimate and they passed my partner's car immediately. The only down side is that you make an appointment but they can't really give you an accurate time that the work will actually be done. They also didn't mention the cost of the additional fees but that's pretty common. read more

Brought truck in for commercial vehicle inspection. Booked an appointment a week in advance to ensure vehicle was completed quickly. I dropped it off first thing in the morning and didn't hear from anyone all day so I called and they said it would need to stay overnight. Next day I get a call and said it failed due to cracked windshield and window tint. Fair enough, however during the preliminary walk around of the vehicle the previous day this could of been brought to my attention instead of holding my vehicle for a day and charging me $265. Will use someone else for our fleet of equipment for there annual CVIP. read more

I would like to say this Company has taken Alot of money from me to repair a boat which they say was running when I picked it up . I put the boat in the water and it ran maybe 5 minutes , when I tried to restart it would not start . Let me back up a bit further , they supposedly fixed it last summer and my son took it out and it would not run . They hired a local boat mechanic in B.C. and that mechanic said there is no way that the boat could have run the way it was . So I took it back to Dandy's in Airdrie where again they said lots was wrong and it wasn't like that when it left - so how could all this go wrong by pulling it to BC - would like another lie from Dandy's . So when I picked it up again to take to BC and I put it in the water and it didn't run as I mentioned at the beginning of this review . Now I've put close to 10k into this boat at Dandy's , not all was for engine repair but that was a big part of it . I then called Dandy's only to reach an automated answering machine which does not allow you to talk to anyone , you leave a message . I left a message thatvud like to talk to the owner , a couple days later the owner called me , I explained that the boat ran all of 5 minutes and now it does not run and it backfires through the carb , but will not run . I asked what will they do to get me going . The owner said he'd do nothing to help but give moral support . I spent a lot of money at this Bussiness and they do not warranty their workmanship . In my opinion this Bussiness ripped me off !! For a lot of money . I have and will also report this to the BBB . So people be ware if this company !! They are scammers and crooked as hell !! read more

Do not use this company. I ordered a T Top for my boat which they were ordering from the US so they charged me $200 in duty and placed the order. Well they instead drop shipped it to me so FedEx charged me for duty for another $200+ on arrival. So I think okay no problem I will contract Dandy to get them to pay the FedEx bill since I have an invoice that shows I already paid the duty. WRONG. Dandy has not replied to any emails, calls, voicemails. FedEx was going to send me to collections because the bill was so overdue because Dandy would not reply so I had to pay duty again and am now trying and recoup my $200 from Dandy. I literally cannot get a hold of a single person in the company to sort this out. I don't live close enough to physically go knock on their door so I am sitting here pissed off and unable to do anything. Save yourself a headache and don't deal with this corrupt company. read more

I find it unfortunate that a business has to receive such a bad review which can have such a detrimental affect on someones (many peoples) livelihood. As someone in the service industry, my pay cheque depends on my service. You may have had a bad experience but did you give them a chance to rectify the situation? Maybe there was bad communication? Who really knows unless you are certified in this area but then you wouldn't have required service in the first place if you were. Has anyone taken the time to say something nice about a service they've had? Well I can honestly say that when our holidays were in jeopardy, Dandy's came to our rescue and we reveive top notch care and overnight service. We will never take our boat anywhere else! Infact, we had crappy service from another service company but I refuse to drag their name through the mud because of one bad experience! We should think before we comment because we never know all of the details surrounding the issues if not first hand. A big thank you to Dandy's for saving our family holiday! read more

I just got back from picking up my car which was in need of some serious repairs. I don't want to make this long so i will try to get to the point. Our car is now over 9 years old. I know...most people get new cars after 5 years and most of the time sooner. We tend to not care too much about wasting money on new cars and tend to try and utilize our car for as long as possible. Now being over 9 years old you can only imagine what kind of things will need replaced especially that we really have only put about $3000 into the car since we purchased it brand new. Our car was puttering and sounded like it was either having clutch problems or one of the cylinders was not firing. We took the car to Canadian Tire and told them what the problem was. a young guy called me twice about 1 hour apart after taking the car for a test drive. both times he called he asked what i thought was wrong with the car as he could not figure it out. It felt as though this guy never worked on a car before or he was so busy he didn't have the time to really test drive it. I told them to take it for a drive because it was extremely easy to see how badly it is driving. Canadian tire did a full inspection (well at least that is what they told me they were doing and billed us for). A few hours later they said they checked everything and said they could not find anything wrong and that all i really needed to do was use Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner and to just add it to my gas tank before my fill up and it will fix the problem. Well after running through a full tank with Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner, the car was still acting up, so i repeated this 4 times for the next month. Nothing. the car just got worse. First thing i did was call up Dandy Auto, they did some work on our car when we first moved to this province 3 years ago so we thought, "hey, everything they fixed on our car before still works fine". i think the main reason we never went to Dandy Auto was because they are more expensive than Canadian Tire. Well there is a lesson we learned here. You get what you pay for! The first thing we noticed was that the lady at reception who answered the phone had a much better idea of what could be wrong with my car than the mechanic at Canadian Tire. They got me to take my car in quickly and they dropped me home with the Free Shuttle Service they provided (Bonus points). They called me later that day and gave me a list of all the apparent problems that is wrong with my car, and boy was it a long list. i needed a new Clutch, Timing Belt, Spark Plugs/Wire, Axle Seals, Slave Cylinder, Gaskets, Water Pump, ETC most of which were all original parts. They also found out that 2 of the 4 new DIRECTIONAL WINTER Tires that were purchased and installed by Canadian TIRE were put on BACKWARDS, so they corrected that. Not only did they fix the everything within 2 days, but they did a full detail of the car, looking like the first day we purchased the car. They made us feel like we were true valued customers. When we came to pick up the car the auto mechanic foreman as well as the 2 front desk girls, who may i add were also very knowledgeable and friendly, took the time to go through all the work which was done in detail and showing me the parts that were taken out and how those parts worked. they took the time to explain exactly what was fixed, why it needed to be fixed. it was apparent how passionate the people are at Dandy Auto are. I am happy to say that the car runs smooth like butter! Besides having a roof over your head, the second most important thing is your vehicle, It is worth putting out the extra money to have your car fixed by a true professional as the difference is having a your car not only last years longer but keeping you and your family safe. We will always get all our work done at Dandy Auto for now on! read more

Brought a boat in to get inspected before we purchased it on a Thursday. They let us know that we needed to get the gimbal bearing replaced and my husband authorized it over the phone. On Friday, we had not heard from them so we drove over to check on it. They had not started the work because they told my husband that he needed his authorization. We were not very impressed as we wanted to go out on the water before the weather changed. Still had not heard from them by Tuesday so we went in to talk to them. We wanted the stereo and electrical checked but did not want it replaced. Called Wednesday morning. My husband was hung up on twice before I called. Cassandra let us know there had been a miscommunication between the front and back and that a new stereo had been put in and that she could either give us a great deal on the stereo or could put the old one back. We said we wanted the old one out back in and we're told it might be ready by 5:00 - it is 9:00 in the morning. Hopefully will be ready. We have kept all our estimates in case we are overcharged. Will not be going back ever! We do not recommend going here to get your boat inspected or worked on!!! read more

I just finished redoing about half of the work that I had Dandy do for me this spring. Thought I would give them a shot since they were close, but that was a mistake. They are quite overpriced, upsell on everything and the quality of their workmanship is not there. Recommend Absolut watersports in strathmore as an alternative. read more
