Unprofessional They…read moredon't listen to patients and their needs, instead pushing for bigger/other procedures. No explanation of coverages/benefits before checkout and the big bill that shows up, especially when insurance changes (Which they take very few plans). Little to no regard for patient feedback and concerns, only scheduling the next procedure/appointment. Be careful with billing department too as they pre-billed for $700+ for services that were not started for my daughter despite notifying them multiple times that we were not ready to move forward. No notification, no receipt, no outreach. I had to call to ask for help and then had to call again the next week to get it resolved as nobody bothered to call back. Just unprofessional all-around.

Unprofessional & Dismissive - Crown Failed in 9 Months…read more My 4-year-old daughter had a crown placed at Newtown Dentistry, and within nine months, it fractured, leaving only the glue behind. According to their own website, "Under normal use and proper care, a pediatric crown should last until the tooth naturally falls out"--which should be 5-7 years, not months. Another dentist noted excess bonding shortly after placement, which research suggests can contribute to fractures. Despite perfect hygiene, no decay, and a normal diet (chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, yogurt, etc.), the crown still failed. The missing piece was about ¼ inch in size, a substantial failure for a baby tooth. Newtown Dentistry was completely dismissive. They initially told us to only come in if the crown fell off or caused pain. I had to push for an in-person evaluation, where they still insisted the crown was fine. Yet, we now face increased risk of decay, the need for further monitoring, and the possibility of another crown--meaning sedation again. Due to their poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and dismissiveness, we did not feel comfortable having Dr. Kristianne Macarareg monitor or replace the crown. When we requested a refund, they refused but it took several dismissed inquiries via email first. We have since discontinued care and would not recommend this practice to any parent looking for quality pediatric dental care.

Despite the delay in scheduling the extraction of a fractured molar due to the illness of the oral…read moresurgeon on the original appointment date, when the hour finally arrived over one month later I was pleased overall with the experience. Two visits were required. First, a two minute evaluation with the surgeon to allow him a visual check on my condition, and to briefly discuss the appropriate anesthesia (local or general) for the procedure. My cracked and partially missing tooth was fairly straight forward, so we agreed that a local would be sufficient. Two months later on the appointed day, I appeared a few minutes early in case there was paperwork, although I had submitted the dentist's information before the first appointment. Still, there appeared to be a lack of coordination between the front desk and the part time surgical team (including surgeon), so I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes being ignored by the staff until the surgical assistant wondered where I was and why I hadn't been sent back to their small work area in back. Turned out, there were a bit more questions to answer, which I completed quickly. Shortly, the surgeon came in and began sedating my gums around the tooth to be removed. He injected a lot of numbing agent and it took a while for it to do its job. He returned a third time with one more shot for good measure and went after the broken soldier with a dental pliers. He torqued and yanked and pulled and had that bad boy out in about two minutes. I had to ask if it was extracted and was pleased when he was affirmative. Not completely painless, but so fast that I had no complaints. I was out of the chair and preparing to leave just a few minutes later. The assistant gave me a bag with gauze, ice bag and written directions to take home. It would have been more comprehensive had she explained everything I should be doing, such as to take ibuprofen and Tylenol Extra Strength as soon as I got home before the local anesthetic wore off, and how to use the gauze and ice pack, but luckily I read the instructions and avoided any problems. 24 hours later and I am without pain, nor bleeding and haven't needed the ice pack for swelling. All good. Still careful what I eat, and admit to a mild brain fog from the remains of the anesthesia in my system. Four Surgical Stars for the folks who took care of me well. Two Uncoordinated Stars for the lack of same between the front desk and the surgical crew.

They didn't take me till 25 minutes later so I spoke up to the receptionist & asked what's going on & of course she didn't know then they finally take my son back and I'm at that point where I am upset & aggravated because if we were late, it would've been a different story, but they didn't even apologize & warn me that they were delayed because they had an emergency, yes that happens, but communication is key, They could've told the receptionist to let their next patient know that they were running behind, that way the patient can decide if they would like to wait or reschedule. Why give me an appointment if it's not going to be at that time then the girl had an attitude when I confronted her & at that point I had to ask for the manager because I could not believe how they were going to let it go without letting me know I'm sorry we're delayed That simple & would you like to wait or reschedule? It's rude and inconsiderate, meanwhile, I have work to go to and they could care less. The manager tried saying that I should not have got upset with the receptionist, it's not her fought & she also said that workers were witnesses saying that the girl did not have an attitude when yes, she did and they claim she apologized & No, she didn't now my 10 year-old told me later that he didn't hear her say sorry & I know she didn't & she let what I was saying go in one ear & out the other, she was not sympathetic at all meanwhile I tried to not do this in front of my child, but it was a little hard to control myself when I am upset and angry because my son was nervous about his appointment like most kids are, but then we have a bad experience with the time we waited and how they treated me. Help make my son feel comfortable., he's a kid. It was very unprofessional for working on a child. I do not recommend taking your children to this dentist office You want it to be more kid friendly make the kids feel more comfortable. It's more of an adult environment In my opinion I also don't like how if I say girl apologize I'm telling the truth of course the workers are all gonna say she did because they are helping defend her then later another thing, my son heard the girls at the desk talking about my situation. It's so unprofessional The other issue I had is after we left my son said he heard them talking about me, the girl Courtney upfront was asking the receptionist if I paid the girl told her no Courtney said of course not, that is so unprofessional, the customer service there sucks
