A nice guy who is very thorough. Some of the poor reviews below are from years ago and refer to persons in the office who are long-gone so I'm leaving this NEW one. Everybody in the office is nice, particularly Alma who is Dr. Rivera's assistant. The other persons don't work directly for him so if you call you may have to wait for her. And between phone calls she also does checks with patients in person. So don't complain since she is very busy. Dr. Rivera is not stingy when it comes to tests if you need that, and he really is trying to help. I've been going here for about 11 years now and I would highly recommend him except he's already too BUSY so maybe you should go somewhere else. read more

Dr. Rivera is a nice guy. His office on the other hand could use some restaffing. The office itself is small and kinda tacky. It doesn't help that the staff, which must roll in and out of that place through a revolving door, is always rather short and rude. I had an appointment a few months ago that they set up for 12:45. I got there and the sign on the door said "Will Return at 1:30". WTF?? Rivera was on vacation and I was seeing another doc who was filling in for him. So, I spent the next 45 minutes leaning against the wall until they decide to show back up and unlock the door. I'm convinced that wouldn't have happened if he were there. It's hard to find a good doctor that you really like. The only reason I still go to that office is because I like Dr. Rivera and think that he, personally, is worth the wait and all the hassle. I'd give the good Doc a 4-star rating but the office gets a 2. That brings me to giving it an average of 3. If you can deal with the office staff, go ahead and make your appointment. read more

He's a fine doctor, looked into some things that other doctor's hadn't thought to, but the office is so awful to deal with that I am looking for a new doctor. This is twice that I've had major bloodwork done with no follow-up from the office, and after several calls from me (continually asking me to call back when it's convenient for them and never offering to take a message or call me back) I basically take the time to march into their office and get a print-out of my results to go over myself. That's enough to inspire me to look elsewhere. read more

I have nothing bad to say about the the doctor himself although I don't find him very knowledgable. What makes me write this review is the office staff especially "his nurse" Maria. As a "patient" you are typically in a vulnerable state. You seek compassion, attention, help and maybe a little sympathy. Well, you are not going to get any of it in this office. Other than "Hasmik" who does the insurance related stuff, everybody else is rude, unprofessional, messy, careless and indifferent. To give you an example: usually when you need to get a refill for your pain medication, all you have to do is to call in your doctors office and ask for a refill. For this office, you need to physically go there and demand it in person because they are too busy to take your request over the phone... Horrible service. Save yourself the time and trouble and find a different doctor to visit. I was looking for a new general practitioner, and since Dr. Rivera was in network and accepting new patients, decided to come here. I arrived 10 minutes early to fill out new patient paper work, which I did, and then proceeded to wait 50 minutes, i.e. almost a full hour before being seen. I get it, appointments fall behind, this stuff happens, but when I enquired at the front desk if this was typical or just happening today, I was told that it was always like this. The facilities and patient rooms were dirty and dingy. The exam itself was rushed and, only after the exam, I was told that they don't have a lab on site so I had to make a second appointment at the lab to get blood work. Nope, already spent 2 hours and took a half day at work for this, not gonna do that. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS OFFICE! read more

I went to Dr. Rivera after facing a major medical health crisis, brought on by a serious accident. He took a very holistic approach and was extremely thorough in researching my entire medical history. What I like about Dr. Rivera is that he actually listens to you, asks relevant questions, and thoroughly explains why he is treating you in the manner he is. He speaks to you, not at you. He helped me build up my strength and face a serious medical condition with confidence. Now, I am on the other side of the health crisis. Thank you Dr. Rivera! First time my husband visited DR. Rivera we had an appointment 5pm and we waited 3hrs hours.The follow up appoitmenr we made the appitment at 3pm.we got there earlier to avoid the wait but we waited 2:30. I DO NOT recommend this doctor to anyone. read more

Saw Dr. Rivera for first visit. He was very nice, thorough, and went through the routines of a check up. The office staff was helpful any time I needed information such as results. Yes, the follow up is on you but then that's a minor detail and same in most medical places. I'm sure if there was something vital would be different. I had a bad experience here first I went to see him and it literally felt like he can care less didn't even look me in the eye when I went for a regular check up. Well didn't think much then but when I was trying to get a doctor for me (OBGYN) not only they took 2 months to provide me with one but he gave a bad OBGYN doctor, (that's another story). Anyway I called Doctor Rivera asked to refer me to another OBGYN doctor. After multiple calls on insisting he authorized a new doctor for my pregnancy, they finally return my call and authorized the same doctor :-/ that's right they were happy to inform me they have authorized the same doctor, when I had told over and over I didn't want that doctor. They kept giving me different answers to my same questions and I caught the reception in a few lies about why they couldn't refer me to another one yet they had a list of 6 doctors that supposedly I was not able to get one. Well today I changed my primary doctor Rivera. Thanks for these 2 yrs collecting my money for the poor service. read more

Do not go here period, That is If you can even get an appointment here be ready for a wait. I have been here 5 times now this will definitely be my last. I'm always early for my appointments. Each time i have had to wait 45 min plus to be seen by the nurse in a room. Once in a room i have had to wait another 30 min to see the doctor. The DR seems very knowledgeable but rushes through everything. Ive only seen him once out of my 5 times because he has been on vacation according to the staff so i have to see the practitioner nurse. As I sit here right now with the door open all hear is the nurse's complaining and arguing with one another about doing there job. They sound very unorganized and even made fun if a patient on how he sounded do to his pain. Very disrespectful. Mr, Rivera you Need to clean house or teach your staff some common sense and respect towards your paying patients! Good riddance..... read more

Dr. Rivera's nurse and staff are totally insensitive with zero people skills, bad attitudes, no listening skills and INCOMPETENT at the job they seem to hate. I had xrays taken that were faxed to Dr. Rivera's office on a Thursday and never received a call about the results as promised. I had to call the nurse late Friday who seemed annoyed by my inquiry. She told me they had the results, but that the doctor would have to call me which he never did. I called the nurse again on Monday, who seem put out by a 2nd inquiry and said the Dr. had the message to call me about the x-ray results. I told her I was in a great deal of pain which did not bother her in the least. The doc called me late Monday and left me a voicemail saying he did not receive lab results and only had lab results from a year ago. What?!? He obviously didn't bother to check my file, nor was the message passed on correctly that I was checking on xray results and not lab. Completely unacceptable and a horrifying reality of what's wrong with the sad state of our medical system. read more
