I've sent my son to many camps, both day and overnight. This is the first time he cried at pick-up in the past 5 years. It was the first camp where he felt his counselors, Mr. F.M. and Master Splinter, genuinely cared about the campers. He said the food was fantastic, the children were kind, and he loved earning points for tribe wars. As a parent, I appreciated the constant communication and up-to-date pictures of my child completing activities. You will definitely see us next year! read more

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. Brand new accommodating facilities, breathtaking views, social distance friendly and remarkable staff. These are truly some of the most wonderful people that I've ever met in my life. Awesome place for kids and families. There is a feeling of safety and security here. Our kids got along with every kid. That's extremely rare under any circumstance. Family camp was just terrific! I even danced and I NEVER dance. Plenty of activity options, delicious food, polite, professional and attentive staff. This place is like heaven on earth. It's obvious that everyone here really cares. Above and beyond customer service. We can't thank RVR enough for making this such a memorable moment in our lives! Our assigned assistant C.J. Harrison really rocks!! We were made to feel welcome and right at home. This place is truly unbelievable!! I can't say it enough..... We had an amazing trail ride! Everything was clean. They had masks and sanitizer. They provide the helmets. Horses are so calm! My friend who has never rode before did amazing and had a calm chill horse. Our ranglers name was amazing. Will def be back!!!! read more

This is 'classic' camp - which is exactly what I wanted for my kids. Most of the activities are outdoors, in age-appropriate groups, and FUN. They rarely stop moving, even in rain or sweltering heat, because they just move the fun indoors. Counselors are awesome and the kids respect and admire them. This is a Christian camp, but religion is not forced on kids. It's about getting together, making new friends, talking about things that matter and - most of all - having a great time. While the activities are wonderful and varied, there is a tiny bit of down time when SOME kids (not mine) can read mail and call/write home. There's a camp theme song that is contagious and lasts all year long. Sleeping arrangements, in spite of the rustic nature of the camp, are age-appropriate and safe. My biggest complaint about this place is that I waited too long to send my kids. This is my oldest's third - and last - year, and no one is happy to see it end. Social distance the whole time, which I appreciated as an immune compromised person, and masks too. (Not a political expression for me). This picture was taken by a drone - where's Waldo style - find us. :) I can't recommend it enough. . .nope it wasn't the outstanding life changing Christ centered week long kid sleep over camp like they specialize in but, it was a weekend chuckful of memories - zip lining, family Olympics, movie on the green, tree climbing, extended hikes, archery tag, tractor riding, train excursions, sanitized playgrounds, family devotions, mazes and more. There were other activities for older kids like paintball and horseback riding we didn't get to indulge in because our kiddos are younger but our schedule was full none the less with amazing adventures. We had time around the campfire nightly just as a family. The staff at RVR provided first class service even building the fires each night even providing yummy smores kits each family could savour. The lodging was stellar with the choice of BRAND NEW cabins (we were the first families to stay in them), teepees, or covered wagons. RVR had never done family camp before prior to this weekend but you honestly would have thought otherwise. We are glad to be an RVR family!! read more

My son loved RVR! He went for the Classic camp and had a blast. He came home exausted from his week. He could not come up with anything negative to say. The Counselors, especially Mahalo and Hercules, were amazing. The food was incredible. And NO PHONES! Thank you, RVR! read more

Awesome camp, awesome counselors, awesome experience! Our 8 year old attended RVR for her first overnight camp experience. She was super excited because her older brother and sister both attended and she was always jealous she couldn't go. Now she is old enough and her brother and sister are jealous because they are too old! Horseback riding, zip lining, swimming and the ever popular skit night! She's still talking non stop about how great it was, howe much she learned about the bible...and she learned to eat new foods!!! Priceless!!! read more

River Valley Ranch (called RVR by those in the know) is a well run, rustic and very fun camp for kids and teens. My three children have attended 1-2 sessions per summer for years. There is "classic" camp, both JR and Teen versions, which is your typical camp experience. They also offer things like Adventure Camp, Paintball Camp, Cowboy Camp and others. There is also a horse riding camp. There are three parts to the overall camp. Arrowhead Woods is for the youngest campers. I believe they start around 2nd grade or so but I'm not sure. They have these adorable teepees that are large- more like yurts- for the young kids. The bunk beds are inside of the yurts and the counselor sleeps in a bunk in the yurt with the kids. Boys and girls are in separate yurts. I think there are about six yurts? Then along a short trail through the woods is Fort Roller- this is for the older kids. My now 12 year old son did one year at Arrowhead and then moved to Fort Roller, where he is in his last year. Fort Roller kids are in cabins with bunk beds and bathrooms. The Counselors are in a room connected to each cabin with a curtain for privacy. The cabins are not air conditioned. Also on the Fort Roller side are swings, a playset, a Gaga pit, basketball court etc plus a big gathering room for meals. The main campus is called Frontier Town and it is down the big hill (Arrowhead and Fort Roller are on top of the hill.) This is the main campus of the camp. There are air-conditioned dorms, a camp store, a big gathering place and many other buildings. And don't forget the Gaga pit! My kids live for gaga ball. :) RVR has offered my kids a fun, safe and well thought out experience for years now and I recommend it. It is from a Christian perspective but all kids are welcome. My middle son is about to outgrow RVR and it is my hope that he will become a counselor there one summer soon! read more
