Wonderful olde English atmosphere. Very good selection of beers on tap. Staff is very helpful in setting up patrons with dishes that allow for dietary restrictions (like gluten intolerance). What I particularly liked is that they were able to make fish and chips for me that was panko breaded rather than battered. I know battered fish and chips is the 'English' way, but few restaurants this side of the Atlantic get battered fish right. All too often it's too much batter, or the fish is really greasy. I didn't feel like taking a chance, so the kitchen breaded my fish and it was really nicely done. The bread pudding is also a standout. THE THORNS: None worth mentioning. THE VERDICT: Fox and Hounds is one of those rare pubs that puts as much (or more?) thought into their food as they do their beer. It's a wonderful 'little bit 'o Britain' in the quiet backwater town of Ladysmith BC Highly recommend!

We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait, totally fine, except 15 turned into 20 then 25 so we made the decision to sit on the heated patio and leave our dog in the car (With Tesla's dog mode, don't worry). The wait time was completely out of the staffs control, they were just predicting when a table would be freed up. However something that could be helped, is having those tables available for pet owners. We noticed that only 1 group sitting at the pet friendly tables had a dog with them. This was not for lack of space, there was a multitude of empty tables inside or on the heated patio. As for the food, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. It came out quickly, and with a generous portion of fries. Both the fries and the sandwich were good. Although instead of the chicken being one piece of chicken breast, it was three separate pieces of chicken, which did make it a bit of a circus act to eat, stuffing one piece of fallen chicken back into the sandwich only for another to fall out lol. I got it at happy hour for around $19 which I would say is a good deal. The waitstaff were great, I think we came at a time where multiple servers were either starting their breaks or ending their shifts, so we had a few different people serve our table. Easy 5 out of 5, as was K's turkey, also accompanied by mashed potatoes and veggies. The decor is pure sports bar, but the sound on the tv's was down so you could actually talk without the usual noise. The Canucks were in Nashville so we watched the game and enjoyed a very very nice meal. Sadly we couldn't finish it all, and with a travel day tomorrow we had to send it away, what a shame.
