On June 7th. I signed our contract for the "barefoot bungalow" which she has consistently advertised as comfortably sleeping 10-12. We booked the house for august 12-15. The afternoon of august 12th we arrived at the house to find her staying in the house with her dogs and her stuff everywhere and all over the bathroom. I then informed her that we had the house booked and I had the contract and was confused about what was going on. She then panicked giving me a bunch of excuses about why my reservation wasn't saved . She instead offered to place us in another more expensive (yet smaller house). The house we had booked was a four bedroom. We had 6 adults and 6 kids. We signed a contract for a house sleeping 10-12. We agreed to the smaller house just cause we had just drove 5 hours and launched our boats was not about to turn around. The new house she was providing was a 3 bedroom. Suzette Proceeded to lay out all the extra linen and pillows we would need and extra cots for the kids. Kept apologizing profusely so I was agreeable cause we were trying not to make a big deal about what was going on and just start our vacation. Monday rolls around. We did the basic clean up as this wasn't our first rental house, so we kinda knew the drill. We stripped linens and left them on the bed. Piled up all the towels used and put them in the bathroom. Cleaned the bbq. I even texted Suzette asking her what she would like us to complete upon leaving since there were no instructions. We took out the trash wiped the counter tops down. Emptied the fridge ( which had expired food in it upon are arrival). Suzette said nothing to me just to put sheets on the couch. A few hours later Suzette starts blowing up my phone with a bunch of crazy accusations. Demanding where all the linens came from and asking why the house was so messy. My husband politely let her know those were all the linens she had provided and inquired about what mess she was talking about? Sure we didn't deep clean the house. There was a tiny bit of sweeping prob required, but that's what the 200$ cleaning deposit covers right? Oh no not according to suzette! The linen closet on the property was locked. So I'm not sure what the issues with that was. Are you not allowed to use sheets at a rental?She then proceeded to claim that the house was "extremely messy" more then average and the proceeded to send pictures. The pictures she sent did not collaborate her story. I've included them below. She sent a picture of a single cereal kurnal on the floor and water bottle , and tiny specs of crumbs next to the toaster. Also if she required us to do a quick sweep we would have happily done so but was not mentioned( until away after of course )However we payed a 200$ cleaning fee and her check out time was 10am. If any other river goers with kids know it's hard to keep everyone on schedule. So we're we were in kind of a hurry.She then proceeds to claim that it took her 5 hours to clean the house. And 15 loads of laundry. First of all there was not even enough laundry in that house to require that amount of laundry loads.I kept wondering why is this lady being so nasty?! That's when my husband reminded me that the house she had put us in was more expensive then the one we had previously booked. So he pointed out she's was trying to make up for what she has to come out of pocket for her screw up. She then started insulting my husband implying that we were filthy people. Then proceeded to ask why we didn't vacuum the floors before we left ( yet again we paid a 200$ cleaning fee did we not?!). Then proceeded to attack how many visitors we had. Saying she never rents to more the 7 at a time. Which was a lie. I pulled up my contract where in black and white it states 10 people. She then proceeded to ask where I got that my contract from. Her obviously?! When I had originally booked the house I told her we would be 12 and she made no mention of it. Plus she saw how many people we arrived with and still no mention of it .My husband then was told We would be charged for dry cleaning 5 quilts?!! Half of which weren't even used because it's Havasu in august it's too hot for quilts. She proceeded to come up with any excuse she could.We tried to reason with her and get explanations and she never had any. She was just coming up with this crap as she went along. When one of her claims would be refuted she would change the subject to another bogus claim. She then proceeded to say that we should have just taken the refund and leftHowever we were left at her mercy. Which then a week later we were informed that we would not receive any of our 400$ deposit back. Even though in her contract it clearly states 3 days. We received no itemized list or anything just a bunch of crap. So I just want to inform renters that this lady is scam artist. Update: The saga continues Suzette now has decided upon learning of this review to continued on her barrage of WILD text messages not only to me but my boyfriend. This is clearly a unusual situation. Bottom line she was fired !! for poor ability to perform what she was hired to do made excuses lack of business ethics and knowledge! her messages are inflammatory and very possibly crossed a legal line. BE AWARE OF THIS FRAUDSTER!! We had a horrible experience with Suzette Morris. We arrived to our house rental and were excited to start our vacation but she was squatting in the house . she said she mistakenly lost our reservation after a power outage. Then she gave us 3 bad options. The first was to cancel our reservation (we'd just driven 6 hours with little kids and towing boats so obviously that was not going to work). The second was to stay in the house with her (she offered to help watch the kids, SUPER CREEPY!!). The Third was to accept lodging in another property she managed. We were not pleased with the options as we had selected the original property for specific reasons but we tried to be forgiving and accepted. We thought our troubles were over at the end of our vacation but then she refused to return our security deposit for NO VALID REASON!! We are furious and are looking into legal counsel. read more
