This is a small plaza located right between the River Market and Riverfront Park. It used to be called the Riverfest Plaza, named after the now defunct annual Riverfest, which discontinued in 2018, after a 40-year run. There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance to/from the park and the meters run from 8AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday. The plaza overlooks the amphitheater and Arkansas River, even though it is sitting a little ways back and the view is somewhat obstructed.
It is home to and primarily consists of the River Market Pavilions, two open air pavilions that can host 1,000 guests. The Plaza is available to rent and hosts a weekly farmers market in the summer and other special events including weddings, ceremonies, corporate functions, ceremonies, festivals and live music. The Plaza is marked by a sculpture, River Market Pig by Sandy Scott, which was installed in 2004. It is somewhat iconic.
It is not climate controlled, so no heat or A/C. It is a nice area that is well maintained. Outside of any events, it is just a covered cement slab. This is a cool and neat place to hold or visit an event. read more
