I attended the Christmas Ball held Dec. 6th. Such a terrible experience for myself and everyone at my table and around me. First of we had to drive through me and walk through a muddy field which is dark. Look like they could at least fill in the driveway with enough gravel for people to walk around and not drive through water. I mean we were all dressed up. Everyone was complaining. Next the chain was across the walkway, so we ended up walking in wet grass with mud while dressed up in heels, etc. Then no lights to light up the walkway to the event center. You taking your life at risk. Then when we finally got to the event center they had a wood fire pit right beside the door. Like we all want to walk through smoke to get in. Next the rug beside us was flipped up where everyone who walked by was tripping and then falling hanging on to chairs. They did not even take the time to make sure the Christmas tree was decorated basically thew lights on it with no ornaments at all and didn't care to tape the light electric code down another trip hazard. We ordered lobster and the one piece of lobster was smaller than most shrimp even though the charge for 2 was around $157.00. Brussel sprouts were hard and not cooked with a piece of white bread and butter. Others had beef which was cold and one man sent it back. It looked like it came out of can. Terrible planning. Then by the time it was ending the entire room smelled like wood from the door opening and the wood pit by the door. Poor planners. I will never go back and everyone at the table had the same opinion. They had a good band but the room has no sound barriers just glass. If you are going to have a band do something for the noise control. Sad planning and such a rip off!!!! read more

Such an unfortunate decision on our part to have booked an event here. There was a miscommunication about the time of our event and the owners of the venue were horrendously rude about it. I re-read our written communication with the venue and to be honest as for fault it could go either way. However, the rudeness is inconceivable and I'm quite surprised they still have bookings. Food was on the low end of moderately, the cake was inedible. If zero stars were an option that would be my rating read more

This location could be magical but it is not. I attended a wedding here and the sitting area had fire ants and there are large cracks in the sidewalk. The house is in need of many repairs. The food they served was horrible and the wedding cake was still frozen. The ice water had a strong taste but it was needed since the air conditioning in the event tent was non existent. The hosts are very controlling and pushy. I observed them take the cake knife from the couples hand and not even let them cut their own cake. The photographer ask the host to move numerous times but he did not. I would never suggest anyone use this venue. read more

We had a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Marlsgate Plantation for my daughter's wedding. The elegant dinner settings and entire southern, gracious setting made for a very special evening. The dinner was excellent, from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert. Everyone had a wonderful time and commented on how memorable was the entire experience. We were even allowed to take the bridal portraits at the beautiful mansion and gardens several weeks before. We are grateful for such a lovely experience! read more

This place has special events like weddings and cooking schools. The venue is perfect for the big blowout wedding. The cooking schools allow you to prepare the food, tour the grounds and mansion, then enjoy the cooked meal. Of course, alcohol is served throughout the experience. Although the plantation is beautiful, it is in need of major repairs. The air conditioning in the reception area is terrible, and it was a hot April night. Nobody wanted to dance because of the heat. I'm from south Louisiana and attend lots of plantation weddings...there is always bottled water for the guests...not here. When I asked for water, they looked at me as if I were crazy and poured me a glass from the sink - not kidding. With the absence of fresh water, mosts guests were drinking beer or seltzers. I drove that night, so I just wanted cold, clean bottled water. All of that aside, I could have gotten past the outdated sound system and the terrible food (even the wedding cake tasted bad), but the owner dictated every minute of the night like it was a school field trip. He even cut the groom's cake without the bride & groom being present. Honestly, maybe he wasn't feeling well or something was wrong personally, but you must be professional and be a good host. It wasn't his place to cut that cake, and he was so rude. I felt bad for the sweet couple, especially to pay that kind of money and not even get a picture with your groom's cake. Overall, have your ceremony there, but go somewhere else for the reception if you want your guests to have fun. read more
