Though my parent enjoys it at the Manor, I've been concerned about continuous increases in the rent and fees, especially the latest increase of just shy of 15%! This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. The Manor seems to have also lost several good and caring employees that we really liked. I'm starting to get concerned about the trends I've been witnessing. I hope these trends don't continue.

We were looking for a facility where more eyes would be on her and she could get Care if she needed it. We toured many independent/assisted living facilities in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. We want to give a special shout out to the following employees who have made my mom's move such a success. Wesley, Lisa, JoAnna, Medhia, & Abria.

She moved in to a beautiful apartment with assisted living services. The food started out reasonable and went downhill by the third month. I don't know what happened. The care givers were marginal at best. But most importantly, they do tell you in the contract that if they deem your loved one needs to be moved to the LOCK DOWN memory care facility with tiny bedroom and bath only, they have the right to make that decision. You assume when you sign that that they only do that when the resident has dementia and exhibits dangerous behaviors like wandering out doors, or not being able to verbalize their needs anymore or is aggressive. None of those descriptions fits my mom. What they don't tell you is that after paying a $15,000 move in fee for a beautiful apartment, they will move your loved one, who does not have dementia, to the lock down memory care unit for falling and going to the hospital. So be very careful in considering this place. No place I talked to, which was close to 15, said it is appropriate to lock someone in a memory care unit when they don't have dementia. I would recommend Manor Village. It was one of the places we considered after leaving Clearwater after only being there three months. They are family owned, have a passionate chef who meets every week with the residents and way lower move in fees. Take a careful look at the ownership of Clearwater. Our invoices were from Berkshire not Clearwater. I learned a lot in this experience. Be very careful. Private equity is getting in to senior care and it's becoming all about profits. Know the ownership.

Approximately 4 years ago, my husband suffered a stroke and then developed dementia…read more As his condition worsened, it became increasingly difficult for me to provide him the necessary care. About 20 months ago, I placed him at an assisted living facility, The Greenway Manor, 5235 E. Wagoner Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254, where he has had a private room with a toilet. I agreed to the contract terms. Two months ago he entered the last stage of his life and started hospice care. On the evening of Friday, 12/14/24, I received a call from the owner Jaki, saying that rates were being substantially increased for all residents, starting in January. Jaki said that I could avoid the price increase if he moved to another house she owned. This move would have been a downgrade, where he would have to share a common bathroom, not to mention be very stressful for him. This is not something he should have to face at the very end of his life. I asked Jaki how much of an increase it would be to allow him to stay in his room. I was willing to pay a little more so that he could remain in a place he was already familiar with and to avoid undue stress for him at this critical time. She answered that it would be an increase of $1,500 to $3,500 per month, a substantial increase, which I simply could not afford. Jaki told me that if my husband were to move to her other house, it would have to be done on Monday, 12/17/24 (a mere 2 days notice). I couldn't sleep that night and was very sad and angry. I can understand that this is a business and the owner needs to make money, but the service objects are people and shouldn't be treated so callously. I find this a cold and heartless predatory practice that places profits over humanity. The next morning, I reached out to Jaki asking for more time to allow me to find a solution. Ignoring my tears, Jaki aggressively pressed me to agree to moving him to her other residence. She said that she had already coordinated the move with hospice and that she had a new tenant for his room lined up. After a difficult discussion with Jaki, she finally acquiesced a little and said I could have 2 weeks to move him out of her facility entirely. I'm pretty sure that the law requires at least a 30 day notice for regular renters in this state, let alone someone in an assisted living facility and I believe Jaki is ignoring the contract and perhaps state law(s). Unfortunately, I don't have time to get legal help or advice and have just been scrambling to find a place that will be good for him. So, just eleven days before Christmas, my poor husband with only a few months left to live has to uproot everything. I simply cannot believe how heartless Jaki has been, placing maximum profit over my husband and his well being. Simply callous and uncaring. This is on top of a $500 increase Jaki imposed in March this year. At that time, she told me that the price would not increase again for a long period of time. In May, my husband suffered a fall at the facility, resulting in a head injury, an "intra-cerebral hemorrhage." He was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic for more than ten days. At that time, I considered looking for another facility, but Jaki assured me that they were able to meet his needs and continue taking care of him. I told Jaki that she had to be sure, as I didn't want to have to move him ever again. Jaki agreed. I want to be clear that the caregivers at The Greenway Manor have been wonderful. I truly want to thank them all. I am also grateful for the help I received from my Replacement Agent, Marco Lorenzana. He really came through in finding a suitable place for my husband and did so very quickly. I would also like to thank the entire team at United Hospice, the social worker Julia and nurses Christina and Whitney. I therefore cannot recommend The Greenway Manor to anyone.

I could do nothing for myself, not even stand on my own or walk. The next morning I knew that I was in great loving hands. Paulette and Rayon have been amazing caregivers. Taking care of my surgical wounds with such care. I had physical therapy twice a week and on the off days Rayon and Paulette encouraged me to get up and walk with both of them walking with me and one following me with the wheel chair. Paulette took care of my daily needs. Making sure I was showered or bed bathed every day and doing my laundry daily. We all have call buttons and they are on call 24/7. Rayon is the chef and when I tell you the food is good, it is delicious! Delivered to my room at the same time daily if I did not opt to join other residents at the dining room table. This beautiful home in a beautiful and safe neighborhood in Scottsdale can accommodate 10 residents. We all have different needs but all are cared for as lovingly and carefully as I am. The rooms are spacious with lovely bedding, flat screen tvs and wifi. Family and friends are always welcome. Pinki, the director/owner is equally as loving and caring. My son researched different Assisted Living places while I was in the hospital and after touring Kierland Sanctuary and speaking with Pinki, he found it to be the best match for me. The price is comparable to other places in Scottsdale. Pinki, Paulette and Rayon have become my family and I love them and will miss them terribly.
