I missed last years event but was able to attend this year. I arrived a little early so I could get a nice standing spot up front. There were so many people from children to adults waiting on Mr. Claus himself to arrive my Helicopter. There were activities for the kids to enjoy. There was a free hot chocolate stand set up. Face painting, and free activities for kids. If you spent $25 or more purchase from any merchant store at Winston Plaza. You were able to get a free photo with Santa. The kickoff started at noon and Mr. & Mrs. Claus landed safely and in fashion. This was a epic experience for the family.

One has to drive through a busy street/intersection to get to the other stores within this plaza. This is my con. Winston plaza is located in Melrose Park and has its own street name (1254 Winston Plaza, 60160). http://winston-plaza.com/home Yesterday, there was an outdoor play area and there was a Christmas tree still up. My daughter passed on the play area because there's still snow on it. I felt she was too grown to play on it anyway. Even if she wanted to, it would've entertained her for a few minutes. The play area, in my opinion, is for under 3 years old. Another con. Free concerts and family events are thrown here. According to opentable.com , there's 39 restaurants to dine in around the area. 2 stars because I had to drive around the area to get to certain stores and face weather conditions instead of being indoors for my daughter to roam around and less risk of being sick.

I appreciated him saying thank you when I should be thanking him. As I shopped on the sales floor I was greeted by Barbara B. and asked if she could help me. If not for her, I would not be able to find the Christmas tablecloths. It was nice to be greeted and offered help at a time when everyone is so stressed out with shopping. I appreciated her kindness and customer service. My final encounter was when I was checking out. Patricija couldn't be any nicer or sweeter. She wrapped my breakables and wished me a nice day. I did miss seeing Isabel, it was her day off. Her service is always outstanding and she brings such a positive aura to the store. Good job on your hires Marshalls!

This Marshall's doesn't really have much to write home about. The only departments that are worthy…read moreto mention are women's handbags and cosmetics. Assuming that the-end-of-season sale has concluded in most retailers, so the Spring items have been introduced but hasn't merchandized in full-bloom. I didn't see many selections of women's ready-to-wear, junior clothing, and women's accessories. Nevertheless, they had an above-average handbag selections on Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and Steve Madden. I'm a recovered handbag-holic, so I tried my best to refrain from purchasing another handbag. There were many clearance cosmetics, face and body care products. Marshall's and T.J. Maxx are where I replenish my facial cleansers because they are so much cheaper than buying at a department store, as long as they are not expired by any means. Anyways, this Marshall's is located as part of the Brickyard shopping plaza. There's a plenty of parking, or it is accessible by the CTA 86 (Narragansett) bus. Remember to get off one (1) stop before Fullerton.

A GOOD DEAL MORE…read more Though it might be messy (and slow), this Marshall's has some nifty stuff at a great value. I came here looking for an appropriate Mother's Day gift this past weekend and luckily was able to find a few solid items in their homegoods section. A ceramic butter tray, personalized wine stopper, and a series of small dishes meant I wouldn't have to make multiple stops (success!) The clothing aisles were in a moderate state of disarray, while the shelves of assorted kitchen knickknacks weren't much better. However, where this store falters in cleanliness, they make up for in selection. Nichole C found an awesome purse at a bargain price (she actually found *3*, but only bought one, thank christ). Checkout was tedious; there were only two registers open on a Saturday evening and the employees weren't exactly moving at lightspeed. This added up to a long wait in line, with some customers impatiently tapping their feet, others a mixture of annoyed sighs and assorted eye-rolling. There's a few shady businesses in the Winston Plaza shopping area but this Marshall's isn't the worst of the bunch......that dubious honor goes to the ghetto-tastic Dollar Tree and their "steak-shaped meat conglomerates". Stop in and take a look, you might find a gem or two on the shelves. Just don't make a habit out of coming here.

Diane had us come into her booth (the shop is a smaller space inside a larger antique mall) and and briefly remove our masks for the camera (this is a jewelry shop, after all). In COVID times, precautions were in place, followed & reasonable (Masks, plastic screens at counter). Diane was very polite, professional & helpful. We did go to a few other jewelry stores in the western suburbs, all pretty standard. They all had a few vintage rings, but nowhere near the selection of The Gold Hatpin. We had plenty to look at and Diane was great at listening & educating us. This was helpful because my fiancee & I *thought* we knew what we wanted but there were a couple factors we hadn't considered & her input was very helpful. Along those same lines, she was not pushy in the least. Many other "basic" jewelry stores wanted to source rings from other places, construct a "vintage looking" ring, etc & we got the feeling that we were dealing with a used car salesman at times. Diane was none of that & truly a pleasure to work with. We can't recommend Diane and The Gold Hatpin enough.
