This store reminds me so much of my childhood - games everywhere. River City Games focuses on traditional types of games; board games, darts, fuse ball, poker, billiard, etc., so gamers this probably won't the be perfect store for you. They carry the run of the mill board games like Monopoly, Risk, etc. but also specialty games. Check in if you're looking for something specific. They have different styles and types of playing cards, poker chips, die and just about anything. Their high end darts are behind lock and key so if you're a dart enthusiast they may have your fix. They also sell poker, fuse ball and pool tables. Yuppers, its part of the makings for a man cave frenzy. They are certified to service all makes and styles of billiard and snooker tables as well as are able to assist in moving your table to new locations

This is an interesting classic game store. They've got the diamond edition of Scrabble - which I won't buy based on principle and price ($80!). They've got Monopoly and every knock-off you can think of. There's a section full of puzzles. They had a classy looking foosball table, a jukebox and a few billiard tables for sale. There were lots of darts and accessories as well as pool cues. A pretty neat store to browse.

Rivercity Games store is always fun to browse. Kingsway location is nicely stocked, and customer service is great. Whether you are into puzzles, chess, board games or billiard, Rivercity is a great place to shop. Although the store isn't very big, the number of products in it is truly impressive, and everything is neatly organized. Some of the things I salivate over during my each and every visit to Rivercity are beautiful chess sets, dart boards and pool tables. It's a shame I don't have a games room because I would most definitely stock it up with the goodies from Rivercity. Some of the board games sold here are Monopoly, Clue, Pop Culture, Scrabble, Scene It, Cranium and Risk. All games are reasonably priced, and often go on sale, especially around holiday season.

    Games galore!

Great selection of board games! A bit pricey, but really good if you're looking for selection and don't feel like ordering online.

When I first walked into Comex Hobby, I didn't see anything that was particularly interesting--just…read moresome model kits and not-so-exciting action figures. But then I turned around, and a set of giant boobs, at least giant in a miniature sense, were staring me right in the face. It was Japanese sexism in woman characters at its best. These were action figures of various characters--I think some of them might have been from video games--that were hyper-sexualized and wearing very little clothing. In fact, in some cases the figures wore no clothing, and only their hands covered the places that separate this from being pornographic. But before I go too much on a feminist rant, I did find some other really cool stuff here. Everything in this store is imported from Asia. I found all this awesome Nintendo merchandise like Mario, Yoshi, and Princess keychains, key-lights, and wallets. I wanted to buy so many of these things, and I'm already thinking about Christmas presents for people (and myself!). They even had a little stuffed doll of Domokun--you know that cute, brown character from that popular poster that says, "Every time you masturbate... God kills a kitten - Please, think of the kittens." I really wanted to buy him, to always remind me not to masturbate. Although I ranted a little about the sexist action figures, this place is actually a super cool store--probably the best Asian import store I've been to.

My husband has purchased model supplies at Comex Hobby and asked me to picked up bare metal foil…read more I didn't know what it was or what it would look like so I went to the supply section and looked for it. Since I couldn't find it, I asked the sales associate if they had it. He checked with another associate and yes, they had it. They didn't have a dedicated hanger for it and it was behind another product. The packaging looked worn like it had been there for a year, or years. The last time I went, I bought a model paint rack for my husband as a gift. I asked the associate where it was as I thought this would save time than me trying to find it. They only had one left and the box was dented it but it had plastic covering it. The words on the box were written in Japanese but I hoped it wouldn't require much assembly. There always seems to be enough staff available to ask for help, if needed. The prices seem a little high but being in the mall, I would expect a bit of a mark up. I don't think the return policy is great, but then again, they wouldn't want people opening products or using them and then bringing them back. Decent store for those who like models and needs supplies, board games, and anime products.

This place has a ton of selection but what I noticed was that their smaller car models, like the 1:64 scale ones, were so over priced. They have so much items for $8 - $10 that I've bought at Wal-Mart for almost half that. For their larger model cars I'd say their prices were pretty good though. I will also caution collectors on another thing. This place does not have items you'd want to open up after purchase. Like your typical $1 Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars for example. Everything in the store is pretty much stuff you'd want to keep packaged up and hanging on your wall or placed on a bookshelf or mantel. They do have a website with a lot of inventory listed on it but shipping is nuts so if you can make it to the store then do so. It would cost me $12 to ship a $9 diecast car to my place that's 2 KM away from the store for example. In conclusion I'd say if you have at least $50 to spend here you're going to spend it in a second but if you want to save some money for smaller diecast models, shop elsewhere.

I thought I was pretty set for nearby-ish hobby shops, but this is closer and better than the alternatives. The absolute best thing that'll keep me coming back forever is that the folks running the place strike the perfect balance between helpful/welcoming and chill. I'm always greeted right away (even if they are busy--like participating in one of their organized tournaments) but also gave me space to browse and didn't pressure me or get overly "helpy". Even though it is a small space, they seem to have everything I want. I found paints for my Warhammer models, unique and awesome minis (sometimes hard to find good female ones and my daughter found one she wanted here immediately), lots of books for D&D that I'm probably coming back for, and Magic cards as well. There is one paint I needed that they didn't have, and they are going to order it for me. They have tournaments and games scheduled regularly and are also available for drop-in type stuff. One game I've been meaning to check out is a women-identified D&D group, huge ups for inclusivity. Bottom line: shut up and take my money. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Gamer's Den!
