No service but cheap and good food! Can't ask for much more from a buffet. Everything was clean, organized and mostly labeled.

Ate at this buffet several times, and eaten some of my favorites there. Love the sushi, cream spinachh, breaded fried shrips, clams on the half-shell, wonton soup which I mix w/ egg drop, chocolate ice cream. BUT recently I tried the Hibachi Grill -- OMG it was so amazing, that after I ate my lunch I had to get hibachi to go. Will be back soon for the Hibachi - if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing something special. AND someone waiting on her habiachi told me that after 4 they have rib eye steak at the hibachi and crab at the buffet area! Y um! read more

This is my favorite Chinese buffet in Charlotte. For weekday evenings, there's usually no wait. The food is always hot. There is a large variety of chicken, pork, seafood, sushi, salad, and sides. The photo is just one plate of four. One of my favorites that is not depicted is their crawfish. Their spicy seasoning is perfect and they are juicy. I have always gotten good service as a solo diner. The waiters pick up the used plates from your table quickly. It is usually busy when I come in for dinner, but not crammed. This is very similar to the Hibachi Buffet in Matthews and, in fact, owned by the same person, however, I think this place is better. There is a wider selection of food, and it seems fresher. You can find everything from broccoli and chicken, salmon, honey walnut shrimp (though I did not see any walnuts), green beans, mussels, and tilapia to mac and cheese, pizza, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes to grapes, peaches, pineapple and more! They also have a hibachi area. There are more sushi rolls to choose from, and they also have popsicles for the kids. The water feature looks similar, but there are no fish. Staff is very attentive and quickly clean the table of plates as soon as you finish your plate. There is plenty of parking. My only complaints are that the drinking water had a funny taste, and the bathroom is not clean. Otherwise, this is a great place to dine, especially for groups. read more

We had reservations for twenty. Easily accommodated with a long set-up of tables strung together in their party zone. Works well without any frills or pretense. Check-in was easy, peasy and priced at $20 plus tip, which I encourage since they continually cleaned our table and quickly refilled half-empty drinks. Lots of food, mostly just OK, and replenished continually, at least on a Sunday. FYI: Arrive before 1:00 PM before it gets slammed. Just saying. My main complaint was although they provide gloves to handle the dozens of thongs to handle food, almost nobody thought to use them. Sanitizer stations should be placed throughout the service area and not just in the restrooms, IMO. Overall, it was a feeding frenzy buffet. Tons of food, tons of people, tons of ethnicities, tons of hands touching dozens of utensils. Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter donning a mask, gloving up, and wondering if Covid is truly over. Upon entering the Restaurant on Sunda, June 14, 2026, we patiently waited to be seated. We were a group of 7 elderly African Americans Women ( all of us 70+ years old). The host that was seating us told us that we needed to pre-pay for our food. They said because of our group size and the restaurant being so busy it was what was being asked for us to do. As we sat there and watched non- Afican American groups being seated without pre- paying. They told us that if we wanted to be seated that we needed to prepay ( that was not a request but a demand/requirement). We went ahead and prepaid. We also without being told had an automatic tip added to our check that wasn't noticed until I happened to glance at my receipt. For tipping our waiter in advance he brought drinks out to us and removed plates from our table, never once asking if we needed anything else during our time there (about 1 1/2 hours. Please tell me who automatically adds a tip to a buffet meal? The food was low quality and the customer service was even worse. My group and I will never step foot in River Buffet ever again!!!! This is always our go to hibachi buffet when we're in town. They always cook to order our food as requested with just enough soy & garlic, not too much. & they always have freshly made sushi. They have to keep it stocked because they are always so busy. Then from there it's a trip or two to the buffet for a few items and dessert. This was my husband and my second visit and our last. I am not sure how this place is ranked so high. I was so disgusted by the food last night that I don't even know where to begin. The roasted potatoes were okay, not very much seasoning but cook perfectly. The sauced chicken wings were extremely tiny and didn't have a good taste to them, the marinated steak was really good. The plain fried chicken wings were burnt, the beaded shrimp was undercooked and the Cajun shrimp was overcooked. I even did hibachi and that went straight to the trash. My husband enjoyed his salad and noodles, he said the marinated steak was chewy and he didn't care for the cajun shrimp either. Our waitress was attentive. read more

This is my second time coming here. The first time I came with my friend and thought that the food was decent, nothing to ride home about, but the price is right! I took my son to Big Air, which happened to be right next door, and once we'd been there for a few hrs, we worked up an appetite and decided to have lunch here! $12 for adults and $8 for kids - that is not bad in my opinion! They have a variety of foods, an extensive sushi bar, and a hibachi station that's all included in the price. Most other buffets would charge extra, so that's a plus. I wanted to try the hibachi, but every time I went up, no one was there, so I can't comment on that. The food was mid, nothing really blows your socks off, but I did enjoy the pot roast and the sauced chicken wings. I mean, you name it they have it! Prime rib, chicken prepared different ways, pasta, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, shrimp, fish, ribs, sausage, creamed spinach, and the list goes on. It's a huge Buffett - with endless choices it seems - one doesn't come here for healthy food but yeah if you want options and like Chinese this is your spot! Went here on Valentine's Day, so that we wouldn't have to wait for food. Had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, place was so packed, but for good reason, the food was great! Today's lunch was quite good. The buffet lines were still being loaded up at 11:15 am (they open at 11) but by 11:30, everything was out there and being taken care of. Yes, I had an early lunch / late breakfast. Weekend price is $16.23 including tax plus tip. All the usual stuff here including beef & peppers, chicken and broccoli, breaded and fried chicken in sauce, baked fish, short ribs, peel and eat shrimp, oysters and a huge line of fresh cut fruit. I was pleased to see the sushi line was in good shape with many options and even a big pile of sliced sashimi. The hibachi was clean and there was a cook ready to go with stirring up your fresh stir fry. I was able to make some healthy-ish choices and avoid the stuff that was all carbs (rice! noodles!) and sweet/fried. My waitress cleared dirty dishes quickly and was also available to refresh my water. I liked that she had a pitcher and refilled it at the table instead of taking the glass elsewhere. I know alot of people have stopped going to Buffets since Covid. But we saw this place and the reviews looked good so we went for lunch. It was around 11.99 for lunch and there were Tons of options. The food was hot and fresh and we enjoyed it. Our waitress was so nice and kept our iced tea refilled it was 95 outside and the AC inside was nice and cool, which was very pleasant. They ALSO have sushi and the employee was there making it fresh! They ALSO have hibachi and that is made to order! One tip... If you get a steak included in your order give it to them last bc everything stays on the grill until the last item is done which is usually the veggies. This was your steak is not over cooked. Not the biggest fan of buffets but I actually enjoyed this one. The decor is very family friendly and feels spacious and inviting at the same time. The food is well prepared, served hot and is kept in a good rotation. I think what surprised me the most was that the hibachi was no added cost as well as sushi. So there's the option to have freshly prepared food to your liking. It's self service which is typically but the wait staff made ensured drinks were refilled promptly and used dishes were removed in a timely fashion. Nothing had a name on it so it was kind of just guessing, so their salt and pepper chicken (or jalapeno chicken?) was my favorite, as was the coconut shrimp. I tried they sushi and it was pretty good for a buffet. Server kept our drinks refilled and took plates in a timely manner so service was excellent in my opinion. It was really crowded inside and people weren't really courteous of their surroundings; it was very much every man for themself. I had to stop and stand still and stare at the person in front of me a lot before they got the hint to go around instead of walking through me. I had been here a few times before but was hesitant to go back due to reading some reviews on Google that claimed the staff were racist. My Hispanic boyfriend and I went there and witnessed guests of all origins being treated with the same basic human respect. We went again and observed the same thing. There are lots of different foods to choose from, the crab Rangoon is delicious, and I'm addicted to their coconut shrimp. I sometimes find myself coming here a few times a week (don't judge me lol).
