The worst place I have ever been to and I regret to be their patient for almost 2 years. They could not do wisdom teeth extraction but ask me to do a full scan that is NOT covered by insurance. I said I would like to do the scan at the place where they can do the surgery at one time. 2 days later I received a letter from doctor Walter Palmer saying I have been wasting of his time and he is no longer want to serve me, what a RUDE person! WARNING for the current or future patients, if he asks you to do a checking, just do it! I can't say that going to the dentist will ever be something I look forward to, but that is certainly not River Bluff Dental's fault! They make the experience as pleasant as I imagine a visit to the dentist can be. Tricia, the hygenist I see, is friendly and efficient. Dr Palmer is thorough, and I am very happy with the work he has done ( Crowns mainly ) Receptionists are friendly and efficient. I guess if I had to nit-pick - I am not a fan of the TV's everywhere, but at least the volume is low! read more

I was a patient there for a time until Dr Palmer let an Tech install my crown. It was too large and this person didn't know how to deal with that so she just jammed it on and sent me on my way. It was painful afterwards and I called them the next day. They told me to give it time. The pain continued for a month and when I went to a different dentist, they expressed disgust at the state of my gum and the pain I was having saying that that crown should never have been put on as is the surrounding teeth were loose from the pressure. They also informed that no Tech or Assistant is ever supposed to do that on their own. read more

After horrible experiences as a kid and teen, I am a complete dental phobe. I used to avoid going to the dentist like the plague - hated to get my cleanings and would literally wait until there was an issue that I could no longer ignore like stabbing pain before I would finally visit a dentist. Dr. Walt Palmer and his staff have changed that. I don't feel like a baby when I'm there. They understand my experiences, do what it takes to make me comfortable and are always explaining what is going to happen next. The latest technology makes the visit easy and fast! Dr. Walt has a phenomenal way with patients; his demeanor instills confidence without offensive arrogance. He takes the time to explain the treatment options as well as what to expect with each of them pros/cons. He doesn't waste my time with repeat visits or what seems like unnecessary treatments. Most impressive is that he refers out the treatments he believes are best suited for other specialists. I like when a professional knows when a patient is going to be better served in another setting and isn't too arrogant to say so. He did my root canal - pain free. His staff have cleaned my teeth without hitting the sensitive spots and he has re-fit my crown that another dentist botched. I don't often wax on about dentists...I actually never do...again - the plague - but I will have to say that River Bluff Dental is a class act all the way from the staff to the technology. I was visiting the twin cities and had a problem with a crown - decided to do a cleaning as well. I agree with the other reviewer who said that the hygenists were decent (she did her job; don't remember her name). But Doctor Palmer was pretty terrible (thus the 1 star review). He did not communicate well, and basically charged a fortune for some temporary fix, and seemed like he was dying to get out of the room the whole time. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Walter Palmer as a dentist. I had been seeing him for over 20 years and spent THOUSANDS of dollars on my teeth. Then, a week before my wedding he put on a crown. I had a HORRIBLE reaction from the Novocain they used and my mouth was so infected I had to be on pain killers during my wedding. When I called to discuss it they implied that it was just a "coincidence" that I happen to get the infection right after they did the treatment. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was totally fine prior to having the work done. Ever since then, I have continued to get mouth infections and have had numerous tests to try to figure out what it is and all have come back negative. When I have called to talk to Dr. Palmer about it he refused to return my call and instead had his assistant call me back. The assistant then implied that it had absolutely nothing to do with them - even thought I only called to try to get information about what they had used in my mouth. I THEN got a letter from them basically telling me to "never come back" and "good luck". After 20 years and thousands of $$$, that is how you treat a customer when there is an issue??? AGAIN, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND GOING HERE!!!! read more

This place starts out looking impressive and advanced with Dr. Palmer's face on the front of magazines and high-tech tools, but Dr. Palmer is rude, condescending and arrogant and the clinic will try to get as much money out of you as they can and have no problem being misleading about their charges as they do so. I went in for my routine yearly exam and cleaning after being referred by my insurance company as I was new to the area. The hygienist/assistant was very friendly but really surprised me by quickly recommending a bunch of unnecessary dental work including replacing my existing fillings, some of which I've had for 15 years, trying to tell me that if I didn't replace them that my teeth would crack. The first thing Dr Walter Palmer said to me was "When we're done with you you're going to have a beautiful smile. I'm being optimistic... I'm seeing into the future here." which seemed like some sort of underhanded insult to my teeth. Then he started asking me about what I do for a living and I got the distinct impression he was fishing to see if I had money or not. After I told him my profession, he repeated the thing about replacing all of my fillings and recommended teeth bleaching and I think some other cosmetic procedure. I told him that I only wanted an exam, x-rays and cleaning and if I had any cavities or other issues to have them taken care of. They sent me to the front desk where a woman wrote out a treatment plan with costs listed at about $5000 including all of the stuff I had already said I didn't want. I told her again what I wanted she gave me another treatment plan with just an exam, cleaning and xrays that totaled something like $200. I signed it and had them perform the services. A month later I got a bill in the mail for over $600. I immediately called the clinic and they said that in the fine print on the treatment plan it says that they don't guarantee their charges and that it is only an estimate and that everyone's insurance is different and that the bill reflected what my insurance didn't cover. I got the feeling that the staff there are nice women but they seemed intimidated by and a little scared of Dr. Palmer and they acted like they had been coached by him, or someone, to sell as much work as possible at very high prices without being forthright about the charges. I will never go back to River Bluff Dental. What a scam. read more
