She has been asking for earrings for a few months now and I had seen many posts on mom groups where this salon had been mentioned as THE place to go for kids, so I decided to go for it. I always knew I wanted my girls to have their ears done by a professional, NOT at a store with a gun. The whole experience was so relaxed and gentle in comparison to my own experience when I was 4 (with a gun) or the horror stories I'd heard from my sisters when they had their kids done at Claire's. My girl did great, no tears thanks to the numbing cream, and none of the trauma that accompanies piercing with a gun! 10/10 experience and when my other 3yo daughter wants hers done we will definitely be coming back! read more

I had an idea in my head and had looked at her portfolio of work, but the piece she turned out was even better than I had imagined. I have 19 piercings, so I consider myself fairly well-versed in what constitutes a good piercer and piercing shoppe. After moving to the Edmonton area from out of country (where I had a regular piercer with over 20 years of experience), I had some struggles finding a piercing shoppe that did not have high turnover of employees and that did not gouge its customers in their prices. I am also a year into an autoimmune disease that has caused some major changes in the way my body handles healing (amongst other things). Ritualistics is exactly what I was seeking! The owner, Noni, has owned the business for over 25 years (yay for stability) and works at the shoppe daily. She is THE best person to see if you have *any* piercing needs. She will give you sound guidance to look after piercing-related issues and inform you of how to properly care for your piercing(s) holistically. There is a great selection of jewellery readily available and the prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for something they do not have, or want a custom piece, Noni has long-established relationships with many vendors and custom order pieces. The shoppe has been impeccably clean every time I've been there (and I have just dropped in a couple times). Proper sanitisation was maintained every visit as well. I suggest making an appointment in advance as people are seen by appointment due to high demand. I had an urgent issue with some fairly bad swelling (due to my compromised immune system and having multiple inflammatory conditions) and she was kind enough to squeeze me in to get longer posts in place. Noni is definitely NOT someone who is money hungry; rather, she cares about people genuinely! She is down to earth, honest, and direct. If you are a sensitive person, please don't allow yourself to be offended as these are good and rare qualities that can sometimes come across as gruffness. Please hear her out and know what she says comes from a place of wisdom and experience. She also gives good hugs (I asked first and she was warm and welcoming)! A little strange for some, but I like giving people hugs. :) I'm happy to say I've found my body modification home with Noni (and Connie, who works front-end in a supportive role and is very helpful) and, because I trust her, I will also bring any tattoo business to her shoppe. read more

I have had my fair share of piercing places both in the US & Canada over the last 15 yrs. I've severely botched jobs (my ignorance) on my nose piercing over a decade ago to terrifically, godawful septum piercing last year (the young lady did NOT hit the 'sweet spot' so it hurt like a MOFO; and yes, I did research before going in and it was still an epic fail). I have been to a few places here in Alberta and Ritualistics, thankfully, is one of the best I've been to. One of the things which was a wonderful surprise is the depth of knowledge which Noni (the owner) has. She shares EVERY ASPECT of the piercing which you will go through. I had done my own research, of course, but she provided me with info I had not read anywhere online. The best part was that at the end of the approx 10 mins of her provided me with ALL that I needed to know, she asked genuinely, if I still wanted to get my piercing done. Like, 'WHOA". I thought that was brilliant and amazing bec it is possible after hearing it all the customer may NOT want to get it done after all! I knew I was in good hands when the piercer-owner is willing to TRUST their potential customer AND has great trust in their own talent and skill that they do NOT have to feel they could lose a sale. Since that first meeting I have had 3 dermal piercing with Noni: 2 of them (vertical positioned) are on my third eye and one just above my left cheekbone underneath my eye. It has been about 9 months since the 3rd eye dermal was done and when i got sick in October one of the dermals got loosened. I had to wait about 2 wks (not advisable) bec I was sick but fortunately when i got my session with Noni to fix it she was able to do her magic to remove it and then put it back in place. I was convinced I would lose that dermal permanently bec of scarring, etc, but Noni perservered. She studied the situation, looked at th condition of the piercing and expertly decided it was ok to put it back in. I AM SO HAPPY that it worked! I love, love, love my dermals. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it too. The shop also provides you with the salt, little squirty bottle and instructions for cleaning. Honestly, yeah, these things are cheap to get but that the shop provides it anyway speaks volumes to me. I do appreciate it very much. Btw, I had a sudden cancellation and it is NEVER good for a shop to have to bear the cost of such a thing but Ritualistics/Noni was understanding with regards to what happened. I am very grateful for their generosity specially in these times we are in. I am currently scheduled for my nipple piercings and I look forward to having these done! I just showed up for a piercing appt with my mother for her birthday. We booked just yesterday. Specifically being told to eat and where to park. They never wrote the appt down. Treated us very rude. Super unpersonable and unprofessional. I contacted them asking if they had any tattoo artists with experience covering up scars because i know irs very different to tattooing healthy tissue. Simple enough. What i got in return was a thousand word pamphlet that was copy and pasted without answering my question or providing contact info for a real person to talk to. When i pointed this out i was told, "...............no one here is a secretary", well then who is making your appointments? Further, she told me i shoukd have just called the shop instead because her time is precious, guess they dont have time to answer questions. I got my friend a custom tattoo from this place. The entire experience (consultation, fitting and tattooing) was professional and yet fun and laid back. The staff here love what they do and have great personalities... ideal for first timers. Katrina is not only a gifted artist but is also hilarious, thoughtful and kind. The appliances and tools look like they were in good condition. My friend had been here before for piercings and didn't have any negative experiences during or after. read more

My experience at Ritualistics was wonderful. I was getting an industrial piercing, Noni was running a bit late but I didn't mind, the lady at the front was great company. Nice selection of jewelry, she helped me select a titanium bar with black opal balls, very cool. Once inside the piercing area, I could see that it was a very sterile and professional set-up. Noni was friendly, very attentive to cleanliness and safety, and thorough with her instructions. I wasn't sure that she would be able to do the piercing as 1) I wear glasses 2) I don't have a large curve to my ear and 3) I have a helix piercing that was rather in the way, but she made it work, and it looks great! Pain Factor: 2-3/10. Noni had some time before her next appointment and she managed to squeeze in two lobe piercings for my husband. (very nice of her) We both left knowing exactly how to care for our new piercings, and very satisfied with our experiences. Great job! read more

I vouch for the company's ethic of quality over quantity. They take bookings for piercings which now seems to be so they can allow lots of time for each client. They will discuss your piercing quite throughly with you and the goal is to have everyone not just walk out pleased but also have as smooth of a healing time as possible. I went in for an apadravya but was talked through this piercing as well as other options, and ended up going for a reverse PA which may later be changed to a full apadravya. I am already happy I did so. For one, the reverse PA hurt for all of 0.25 seconds, and is healing up quite quickly without any issues. Noni works so efficiently, and with her coaching through the entire process, I was able to be very relaxed for the piercing. I recommend this shop. read more

So I came her for my daith piercing, with no hesitation. I think that the shop is very clean, staff are very friendly and over all the piercing went well. However I bought a new nose ring the same day, which I made sure to ask would not tarnish. And was told it would not. Within a week it did. After my daith healed I ordered a cute heart with diamonds. They put it in and everything seemed fine. This is not the type of jewelry you should put in on your own. I guess it was not closed enough and my skin grew over top of the jewelry. Ritualistics did not have a piercer in the day I noticed, so I had to go to another shop. The other piercer got it out. The heart was tarnished, and missing a jewel(which was stuck under the skin). It was very painful. My advice is to either bring your own high quailty jewelry or go to another shop. read more

My wife went here to get her nose pierced today. The piercing specialist arrived 45 minutes late for the appointment. Then she began questioning my wife heavily over the nose piercing. About 15 minutes into the piercing appointment my wife realized that the employee wasn't going to do the piercing. My wife asked if this was the case and the employee said she wasn't going to do it. My wife left and took her business else where. They should have been up front about their intentions given their lateness to the appointment. The employee was rude. No business needs this kind of employee. read more

Really disappointed with how I was treated at this shop today. I had called ahead to see if they were able to put my nose ring in as it had fallen out the night before, and the shop manager said it wouldn't be an issue. When I got in the manager mentioned it should just be a moment. I waited over 45 minutes for a jewellery change and ended up leaving because I couldn't wait any longer. Artists were loudly bumming smokes and smoking outside the front door. I was waiting with another lady whose artist arrived at least an hour late for her tattoo. As the client was in the bathroom, I overheard the artist state to a co-worker "OMG, I had the craziest night last night" - YIKES! I would not want her tattooing me! I've been coming here for quite some time, and have always been impressed. Today I was taken aback at the level of unprofessionalism that was being displayed by all the staff. Something that should have taken 5 minutes to do, and I had a nice crisp $20 thank you for the professional, now has resulted in my decision never to return. read more

I went here a year ago to get my tattoo done. The tattoo artist was very kind, but misquoted me the price of the tattoo. I was quoted her apprenticeship price, but when I showed up and the tattoo was done I was charged the price of a full tattoo artist. This would have been ok, except I was not told ahead of time that there was a price change. When the tattoo was done, I experienced some fading and there were lots of holes in the full black of the tattoo. I made an appointment again, and was charged the cost of ink (around $20), I believe that most tattoo parlors do this for free, but again I paid. My finger tattoo had completely faded the first time, and the second time the artist had lost the sketch so decided to sharpie the design on my finger and traced it with the gun. This has created a tattoo that many people believe is a stick and poke as the lines are not clear and it is wider in some areas than in others. My larger tattoo has already faded in some places and looks incomplete Overall I would not recommend this place for any friends or family due to the inability to properly ink my tattoos and the confusion over prices. read more
