I have had two first visits so far, and things are going great. First off great views from the treatment rooms. Secondly, the comfort menu--makes things so much more comfortable. I like personal approach and that my doctor and dental assistant make sure all my questions are answered. This js definitely something that was lacking at my previous dental practice. I love all the new technology this practice utilizes, it is more efficient, great for patient self-education, and helps to provide more precise dental treatment. While in Philadelphia on vacation, a crown popped off of a tooth that was already giving me a lot of pain. I was able to get in to see a dentist that afternoon. Everyone there was so helpful and friendly. Loved their "comfort menu" offering special tools for easing any anxiety about the procedure. (Check out their website for details). Turns out there was a large cavity under the crown. They got me an appointment with an endodontist right away, and by the end of the day, after a root canal, I was ready to continue my vacation pain free. And they accepted my insurance. From the moment I walked through the door I felt welcomed. The mood was relaxing and Karen was very pleasant.......AND she one-upped my previous dental experiences with the offering of wine!!! Next up was their Dental Assistant, Janann. She was super chill, down to earth, and I almost forgot I was going to get dental work done (not a fan of dental work haha). Last up was Dr. Cronin. She did my cleaning because their dental hygienist was on leave. She was just like the rest of her staff; fun, genuine, and welcoming. This office has the nicest staff ever! Shawn is so warm and encouraging, and the dentists and hygienists are willing to explain what they are doing. This is my first yelp review, but I felt compelled to leave one after my third visit today. I have extreme dental anxiety, following an experience where the dentist refused to let me become numb during a filling and told me "cry if you want to, we're going to finish", while instructing his hygienist to hold my shoulders. It took years to get the courage to go into a new dentist and, after researching gentle dentistry, I found Rittenhouse Smiles. From the second I walked in, I felt completely at ease. Shalu, at the front desk, is wonderful and I love that she texts! In addition to feeling anxious, I was ashamed and embarrassed that I had gone so long without getting my teeth cleaned/taken care of. But Janann, Jillian, Dr. Cronin, and the entire staff quelled my fears without an ounce of judgement. Before my first filling appointment, I was given a prescription for a low dose anti-anxiety medication. That coupled with a glass of wine, (I was off work & not driving), & noise-cancelling headphones with a great pandora station, my appointment was a dream! I honestly felt like crying afterwards. Ever since Dr Wakefield merged his business with Dr. Cronin, into what is now Rittenhouse Smiles, I have to say I am disappointed. yes, they are friendly and professional. I even thought the hygienist was friendly enough playing music she thought I would like as she cleaned my teeth, but, they are not pro-active with getting referrals or working with someone with dental insurance, but , not excess money for procedures not covered under insurance plan. I think the old staff was caring and concerned about your dental health regardless of your financial situation but not anymore. I need to get a new partial as I have two missing bottom teeth and Dr Wakefield said tooth next to one of spaces was vulnerable. Tired of waiting. Some dental offices take Care Credit, but this office does not. The office hours are really slim and inconvenient. I plan on finding a new dentist for the next year. read more

I really can't say enough about how much I love this practice. All dentists want your business, but I can say honestly I leave this place always feeling that they CARE. I have complex dental issues, and had a very bad experience with another dentist that left me with serious issues in my mouth. Going to Rittenhouse Smiles is always a positive experience and I feel so relieved to have found a dentist I can trust in Dr. Cronin. My last visit I was having some pain issues in my 2 front teeth from veneers (placed elsewhere). I was so worried I was going to have pain during the cleaning but the hygienist was so gentle and so responsive to my needs, I actually felt no pain. She also explained exactly what was happening and what I could do to improve the situation. (My memory is terrible - I'm going to come back with the name of the hygienist and put it here)! what a nightmare I am living with due to the staff at Rittenhouse Smiles. 20 plus year patient and the crown they inserted in August 2022 is ill fitting. they promised to repair the fit even if it meant starting from the beginning of the process. they told me the work was going to be all part of my close to 2K private payment. Dr Cronin refuses to address the problem despite the fact I paid in full, am having discomfort and issues with eating. Dr Cronin has instructed me to go elsewhere yet is keeping my money. read more

This is review is loooooong overdue.... I am not sure I can ever express how thankful I am to have found Dr. Cronin and her team at Rittenhouse smiles. Candidly, I had a fear of going to the dentist. Literally, a legitimate phobia resulting from a past experience with another dentist. Apparently, Wikipedia says this is called dentophobia. Needless to say, the byproduct of this phobia was the neglect of my teeth beyond my daily routine and I needed lots of work done. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Cronin. Before my first appointment, I literally had to have a whiskey prior to walking into the building. Like I said above, I had a legitimate phobia (and I like whiskey). After my initial consultation, Dr. Cronin outlined our plan and explained every procedure that was to happen in detail to me. And so began my almost 2-year journey of getting my teeth back to their desired state. After my first appointment, my fear melted away (with the help of sedation dentistry J). However, after that first procedure, I no longer needed the NO2. I was completely comfortable with Dr. Cronin as she had garnered my implicit trust. Whether it's the office manager, your dental hygienist, Dr. Cronins assistant Janann, or Dr. Cronin herself, the team at Rittenhouse Smiles care about what they do and go above and beyond for their patients! They work hard to make you feel comfortable while in the office, they ensure you understand every detail of what will happen while you sit in the chair, and the quality of Dr. Cronin's work is second to none. Short version: I can't say enough about Rittenhouse Smiles and Dr. Modesto. Long version: I'm sure that if you have, say, a routine teeth cleaning or a basic, Dr. Modesto and her team are good. But if you find one day that you suddenly have months of dental work ahead of you, THIS is where you want Dr. Modesto calling the shots. She's calm, personable, and funny, and I don't know how she does it but she makes it hurt a lot less than I'm pretty sure it should. She also stays on top of treatments, explaining them clearly and making sure you agree on the best course. The staff at Rittenhouse Smiles also jumps in wherever needed--in my case, with a tricky insurance situation that they wouldn't stop working on until it was solved.
