Service is trash. I got scammed possible over $2000. I came in here because my car was having issues running. However, never did my car get fixed. It continued to shake and had problems running. He keeps telling you what you need to replace (which were false). At first, I never realized this because I just needed my car to get me to work and home. I wasn't knowledgeable about my car since I just started driving and was new to my car. After constantly finding myself going back to this shady mechanic, I thought it was about time I saved myself money and actually tried learning myself. The issues with my car were very simple and never needed things that he told me I needed. Simple things like the sparkplugs, alternator, solenoids. All these things were never replaced by him when they should have. After doing these things myself, I found my car to now run very smoothly. My car has no issues what so ever. Nitty gritty review: I have a 2014 mercedes-Benz E3 50 that I needed new brakes and rotors on. I googled numerous places and found OK to mediocre reviews, then called AutoZone in North Riverside and spoke with the manager Steve about buying the materials from him and if he had any suggestions about who he likes for Auto work and immediately suggested Rite Price. I asked "do they work on Mercedes though?" Yup, they do, and they are just a few blocks from our house. I bought the supplies from Autozone and had my brakes done the same day. Rotors, pads, and sensors. So, I've waited about a week before I reviewed bec I wanted to see if I had any issues. None at all, and the guy who runs Rite Price is a super nice guy. Dave was awesome first time going there on a Saturday was freaking out thinking my brakes were leaking I called him as soon he opened, he told me to come right in, he looked at it right away to let me know what was going on, found out it was the shocks fixed it for me the same day and also did my oil change and inspected my car to make sure there were no other issuies.. Let me start by saying that I have never liked or trusted mechanics. I've always opted to do as much of my own automotive work as possible, and use a mechanic when I had no other choice. One of those times happened a few years ago, and based on a flying review from my pastor, I took my truck to Dave and his crew, and they totally changed my views. Not only did Dave fix my truck, but he had to fabricate a part that was unobtainable. Most mechanics would have given up, but Dave made sure I was happy with the repair. Then it was time to give me the total. I braced myself, but then had to verify the number with him. It was SO much less than I would have ever expected. I was amazed by the turn-round time, cost, and the fact that he was able to fix something that would have been written off. I've been taking my vehicles to him ever since, and I have told so many others about Rite Price Auto. Dave, Sasha and the crew are the nicest bunch of people you'll meet as well. They always give me their undivided attention when I have questions, and treat me like I'm one of their friends. They previously did good work for me in the past, but this last time around was HELL. I took my car in for a slow leak of radiator fluid after the temp gauge on my car peaked out. They replaced the thermostat. I had it for a few days, discovered it was still leaking when the thermostat peaked out again on a trip to the city. Took it back, this time they said the radiator was leaking, and replaced THAT. I got it back, but now it's leaking even WORSE to where there was NO antifreeze in the radiator, and temps were below freezing, so I had to have the car TOWED back to them, as I didn't want to risk cracking the engine. This was the Saturday before Thanksgiving. You'd think by now they'd make my car a priority and get it fixed properly and promptly. Well, instead, they had it for 10 DAYS. They never called ME to give me a status report (I had to keep calling THEM). I called them Wed before Thanksgiving from out of town, woman said she'd have Dave call back. He never did. I called MANY times Friday after Thanksgiving, no answer. They never told me they were going to be closed that day. My partner even drove by there on the way home from work, no sign of life nor any signs on the door saying they're closed for the holiday. Finally, I talked to Dave on Saturday and my patience was at an end. A WHOLE WEEK and he still hasn't figured out what's wrong with it? WTF??? Still not even finished THAT day. He eventually called me and tells me that NOW it's the water pump, and while he's at it, we might as well change the timing belt since it's near where the water pump is. He says it'll be ready Monday. No phone call Monday. We go there after work Monday night, STILL not finished, he says he just got the part for a new timing belt wheel thingy. At this point, I don't care what it is, I just want the freaking job DONE! He FINALLY calls me on Tuesday and says it's ready. I go to pick it up, and now as the final slap in the face, guess what? Instead of doing the right thing to compensate for his laziness, ineptitude and poor lack of costumer service skills (not to mention having my car for 10 days), he has the audacity to bill me $45 for the towing fee after they failed to properly fix the problem twice before! I refused to pay it, told him it was NOT up for debate, and that I was NOT going to pay for the towing fee. Grudgingly, he took it off the bill. Dang. NEVER AGAIN. BEWARE -- I don't know what happened there, they were so good before, but not anymore! It's up to you, but if I were you, I'd steer clear of them! read more
