Paul the Pharmacist has been our go to advisor regarding any prescription & or o.t.c. drugs. They've been a blessing with my wife & I, specially during the pandemic, prior past & current. This Rite Aid has a very helpful staff & they're always very attentive when we have inquiries regarding our scripts. Parking is very easy, with Vons next door it's ideal for shopping. So I came into this rite aid for their ice cream 2 for $8 but the doors were all shut and taped to keep the cold air from escaping. I really needed the ice cream so I asked the front clerk for help. I think she had authority perhaps the manager but I couldn't exactly tell. I felt them shooing me away but I was adamant. I asked if someone could fetch me my favorite flavors from the back. With reluctance the person in charge went to the back of the refrigerator to get me my ice cream. Those thrifty brand ice creams were frozen so I really don't understand what was wrong with the refrigerator. Anyhow thank you for getting me my ice cream. read more

This review is meant for the pharmacy. I would give a 1 star but I do not think it is fair for the other employees I have not met. I came here twice with my mother for her Covid vaccinations. My experience during those visits were okay, but I was not particularly comfortable with the pharmacist's attitude. Somehow during our visits, we were taken care of by the same male pharmacist. I forgot his name, but he was the supervisor or manager. He said he knows Cantonese, so my mom talked to him in Canto. But he could barely respond to her, mostly responding in English. I said it was okay, I could translate for her. However, I felt something was weird after my mom first spoke to him. He wasn't rude, but he also wasn't particularly friendly. He was not informative about the details of the vaccinations, like what to expect as side effects and etc. So of course I had to ask those questions. When he replied, they were very short answers like "Yes" or "No". It would be nice if he could give more information since he was familiar with this type of information and being a pharmacist, should be familiar with vaccinations and drugs. He would just sign off papers quietly and give the shots with no talking involved. It seemed like he wanted us to be gone as quick as possible. Then on her third visit, my mom came by herself. She wanted someone to teach her how to use the at home covid test. My mom came here because she lives within walking distance and I was not available to help her at the time. So, thinking of the closest healthcare worker, was this pharmacy. Out of all the pharmacists, she still ended up meeting the same pharmacist. Immediately after hearing "covid test", the pharmacist began using an antibacterial spray and wipe wherever my mom touched and on the glass separating the pharmacists and customers. He did not even know my mom's situation. She did not come to him to say that she had covid, but only wanting to learn how to use the covid test! I felt that action he displayed was very rude to my mother. She told me every time she was talking, he was spraying and cleaning the glass. And then his response to her was that he could not teach her because it was an "at home test".... What kind of response is that? She said she understands it's for home use, but she cannot read English and would like to learn how to use it. After he showed no signs of wanting to help, she asked "Okay, do you have a quick test or PCR test at the pharmacy?" He answered quickly with a "No" and nothing else. Again, his attitude of not wanting to help and for her to leave ASAP. I believe this response by him was very rude and irresponsible. For someone working in healthcare, it seemed like he wanted NOTHING to do with helping people out at all. If someone was to trip in front of him, he would have the attitude of "it's not my job to help them." It's not anyone's job to go out of the way to help, but it would be considerate if we could all be a little nicer to each other. It's not his job to help her with the covid test, maybe he was busy or maybe he also did not have the tests. But I think he could have redirected her to someone that could help. He could have given her a number or gave her an address to a covid testing facility. After hearing her experience, I looked at the map to find a covid testing site within a few minutes, walking distance! Maybe he was having a bad day? We saw him too many times with that attitude. Even if he was having a bad day, he should not put it out on us. I have worked in a customer service related job for 5+ years, I would never take it out on the customer. It is especially inexcusable for someone who is in a profession to help take care of the health of their customers, especially towards a customer who is an elderly and in need of help. I have been coming to this Rite Aid my entire life. Today was definitely my last time. Rarely have I ever encountered a business that denies customers service once they are inside. It was 9:50 PM and I was in line to pay. There was only one employee around because the other two were texting in the aisles. I didn't know that they were even employees. When I got to the register I asked the lady if she could sell me ice cream. It is 9:58 and there is nobody else behind me. She said no and said that it was time to close. I was so bothered and pissed. What the hell is wrong with her??? I paid for what I had to pay and left. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is, it isn't opened 24hours and the restrooms are below standards. The staff are super friendly and nice and make an extra effort to remember you and your order. OMG. This is the RUDEST place ever. You can certainly drive somewhere else to get your stuff ESPECIALLY if you use coupons. The staff (esp from mid afternoon till closing) are the old women who wear beehives, overuse Aquanets, and who HATE those who use coupons. They don't respect anyone, they will stand, point, and scream at you if dare buy anything that does the resemble the picture on any coupons. You will be made to feel illiterate when they are the ones who cannot understand english or the concept of coupons. I have fought with nearly all of them and when i take the same coupon to another rite aid, it is scanned with no issue. These older ladies will rudely point fingers, and say, "look mija...." etc. Hell, i am not your mija, and i should even be saying, "hey look, dumbass..." So yeah, don't EVEN bother coming here unless you plan to pay and leave. Don't bother with using any smiling muscles here. They will think u are smirking and yell back too. read more

Came in today around 7:20 p.m & I was waiting in line to get an ice cream cone & I was told by an employee that the ice cream area was closed for the day & I was like okay sure no problem so I asked him what time the ice cream area closed and he said " we close at different times everyday" this didn't make sense to me at all because how do they close at different times everyday? I understand if maybe the freezers weren't working for the day but for them to say they close at different times everyday makes no sense at all. I've been coming to this rite aid for many years and have never left a review. We came twice this week for ice cream, I asked a cashier if there was anyone to help us with Ice Cream and she said Yes and called someone, within seconds someone came over to help us. I believe His name is Nazir. He was very nice and puts a generous amount of ice cream on cups and / or cones. I don't have any complains or negative comments for my ice cream visits so far. My goodness the customer service from here is pretty bad especially from the old lady named Mickey! She's so rude I'm surprised she still has her job. I don't shop here that often because nearly everything I'd buy from Rite-Aid I could easily find at the VONS and at VONS the employees are always friendly to me. Rite-Aid has an ice cream section but there's no employee there ready to take your order. You have to inform a cashier and it takes a long time for an employee to come and help you out so I just don't bother. Baskin Robbins is nearby and it's only 40¢ more a scoop and customer service is GREAT there. The beer and cold drinks section is really small so it's just one more reason why I avoid coming here. My wife stopped in to arrange for a vaccine but met with a very rude and not helpful pharmacist. After attempting to schedule online without luck due to Riteaid website issues, my wife decided to drive there and schedule in person (as noted on their website). The pharmacist didn't want to hear what my wife wanted, stating he was too busy. He told her to just schedule online in a very rude tone, even after she told him she was unable to do so, then walked away. My son stoped by this morning to pick up an ice chest for his drive to Temecula with his fiancé. As he was trying to chose which one he was going to take he was approved by the manager and asked him if he can help him with something. I have been there 100 times and never has anyone asked me if they can help me with anything. My son told him what he was looking for and the manager told him where he can find it. The manager followed my son the entire time. My son then felt like he was stereotyped. Just then he hears the speaker saying "security cameras" on the aisle he was on. He felt so uncomfortable and scared he decided to just take some ice and ended up leaving it all together. We are a family of nurses including my sons fiancé. He should have never been made to feel this way. We will never go back to this Ride Aid again thanks to that manager who was on duty Saturday morning. Do all Rite Aid stores not have shopping carts? Or at least ones that can go outside of the store? They had a sale for soda, so I stopped by to pick up 4 cases, I saw they had shopping carts but they had a tall broom stick that would not have cleared the entrance doors, clearly they didnt want you to take them out of the store. So I lugged the 4 cases up to the register, waited....waited....my arms got tired so I put the cases down on the floor. On every single occasion they did not have the medication in or it was a min of 45 min wait which usually turns out to be a good 60-90 minutes. They will tell one time but commit to another. Pharmacy staff is amazing. My mom is always treated very well!!! Paul is always kind to customers. The only bad thing is when customers take multiple items to pay at the pharmacy. Aside from the ice cream here, this place is the worst!! ESPECIALLY the cashier by the name of Mickey. Goodness gracious that woman has a problem. I have called to ask for an item in stock and without acknowledging me transfers the call to another department. I have also had her charge me and just because I didn't know which number I used to sign up for their rewards program, she had no right to get frustrated with me since she was the one who asked if I had one in the first place. During Rite Aid's recent 'buy one, get one free' vitamin sale I picked up 2 bottles of Nature's Way womens vitamins (paying for one of them) and a bottle of acidophilus at the Atlantic location. After coming home and browsing vitamins on the web I became aware that most acidophilus supplements need to be refridgerated after opening but I found one on Vitacost that doesn't require refridgeration so while running errands and shopping at Marshall's, I decided I would return the acidophilus at this Rite Aid in the same plaza in Montebello. I walked up to the register and an old lady named Mickey stared at my receipt and said rather rudely, 'what are we doing here?' I said I was returning and she said 'this is a buy one get one free' and I said 'yes, the buy one get one was the womens vitamins.' Then a 2nd old lady came over and they both stared at my receipt as if I were trying to con them. If they had an ounce of common sense between them, they would see the total on my receipt refected that I paid for 2 items, so if I was only returning ONE of any item, it was still paid for. Eventually the 2nd old lady scanned my receipt but said it wouldn't scan. I said 'can't you enter it in?' and she said no, they don't do that. I didn't believe her but I was highly annoyed so I left. A few days later when I was passing thru again, I went back to the original Atlantic location Rite Aid and returned the acidophilus. My receipt did not scan and the guy here intuitively entered in the code by hand. The whole thing was effortless and smooth. Whoever runs this Montebello Rite Aid needs to monitor those old ladies to make sure these inconveniences do not happen again. read more

The pharmacy doesn't believe in helping customers - at 6:00 closing, there is no leeway. So what if you were in line before six, the pharm tech says "If we help you, then we have to help the person behind you! Besides, I was looking and you weren't in line before six." No service, no meds, just an argument before they shut the roller screen down...at 6:02. When I mentioned the closing to the person at the register, she said they usually just help who's in line. Not today, must have had a hot Saturday night. So five more minutes of help cost them a customer - since there are other choices for pharmacies when the service is so clearly bad. read more

I've been a resident of Montebello for eons so I've seen this Rite Aid from the time it was Thrifty. When it became Rite Aid I wasn't fond of the layout so I literally stopped going.i just recently started going back because I find them cheaper in items I need and they closed the Walgreens in my hood as well. But in my last 3 visits I've noticed a steady decline in the stores appearance. Most of the shelves are in disarray and no one.ever ask if you need help and the staff always look.like there in a trans of some sort. I never use yelp but what made me submit this was a manager of some sort was talking to another manager on the phone 5 ft away from me about her store being fine while sometimes was out sick and i.stood off too the side which she could see I needed help and never asked. So I decided to forgo spending that money towards a sale that there was no merchandise on the shelves for. There was a long line with only one cashier at checkout and there was a long ice cream line as well. So the young man rang me up I paid cash then that same "manager" told him dont close his register drawer he left for what I could only assume was his break but the manager than proceeds to tear my receipt off the register and tell me thank u have a good day( it was after7pm tho)and I had to tell her I had 5.05 due to me in change which it was still on the screen 5.05 but she needed to see it in my receipt to give it to me.i honored her request but all I could think was this "manager" did not have her store together and she probably should have accepted the help they were offering her on that phone call because according to her words she said "we got this' bandit was clear by the appearance and actions that homegirl did not have it....oh did I mention I seen her fly in with a tray of iced coffees when I arrived I hope it helps them get this read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE BY PHARMACY DEPT!!! Started coming to this Rite Aid because my insurance was changed and certain rx meds were not covered! Right of the bat i saw the lack enthusiasm of the pharmaceutical techs and how miserable they looked as they worked. Overlooking the obvious I decided to proceed to use their pharmacy and give them a try. After calling in my rx refill on 11-29-2015 I procrastinated to pick up my order even thou the voice recording stated my rx would be ready the following day after 11am! One week later I walk in to drop off and pick up my rx refills I am told my rx is not ready and asked to come back after 5pm! WTF! A whole week goes by and these people never heard of a courtesy call to notify the customer their rx is not available and might take some extra time! Even Walgreen's notified me my rx is not ready and ALWAYS called me when there was a problem either by voice recording or a live tech! If it ain't broke don't fix it! Took my prescription.. advised it would take 25 minutes . Live near by went home waited 30 minutes called the pharmacy, personal answered the phone like it was her personal cell phone , stated they were almost done just putting labels on . Took additional 25 minutes to get my prescription smh !!! This is insane for someone who is in pain !! I always go to target or cvs but since this is 3 minutes away I decided to give this a try . Clearly the customer does not come first here. I'm waiting at the ice cream for several minutes. There are voices that are coming from behind the one way mirror behind ice cream but they don't seem to care to come out to help me. There's one cashier, Oliva, who is helping check out. She says I'll be with you in a few. Then she calls for manger price approval and the manager-- who is not wearing a name tag but I later find out is Lisa-- and Bertha emerge from the room with the one way mirror. So Bertha decides to help me while her friend goes to do the price approval. This place stinks. It's clear there's a little clique with the two fluffy ladies while Oliva gets stuck cashiering and stocking-- that is what she was doing when I first walked in. What is this? High school? Get your sh*t together and help the customers-- we're the reasons you have a job! Instead we're stuck waiting in slow, long lines because you don't want to work!
