I have very fond memories coming here with my parents and grandparents filling their prescriptions. They have a lovely selection of gift items which I have enjoyed browsing to kill time. My dad stll drives over 30 miles to Komoto's to buy his favorite mouth wash that he swears can't find anywhere else. I appreciate them for keeping great selling items through the decades and their customers have in turn thanked them with their loyalty. While they've made some changes to keep up with the times and demands Komoto's is by far one of the greatest mom and pop run pharmacies in Kern County.

I have come here a few times to pick up medication for someone else and they have always filled the prescription quickly and in a timely manner. What I like about this place is that their drinks and their snacks are really cheap. I like that they don't overcharge since they are the only pharmacy from walking distance from me. You'd be surprised, but they have tons of snacks and surprisingly.... they sell my favorite candy here (Kinder Bueno); which is a London candy bar that I can only find at international stores and now here. Staff is always really nice and very professional. I read other reviews and they had bad experiences here, which was really surprising to me as I have never had a bad experience when I come in. They are even open on Saturday's which is a plus for working people. I do have to say that I came in once to ask if they sold hearing aid batteries as my oldest son is deaf and needed batteries for his aids and they didn't sell it here. That's the only downside from my end.

My mother just went through major foot surgery and is recovering at home, which I told our contact there. This person had told us to contact only them with any concerns or prescription refills that we needed, so I did. I told her that we needed my mother's Nexium filled, she has to take the 40 mg tabs in order to keep gerd, heartburn, and other lovely things down. Despite knowing this, the contact insisted that she couldn't get ahold of anyone at the primary doctor's office. She then suggests that I should call. The number she has is exactly the same as mine. In other words, no matter who is calling, you still have to go through the call tree no matter what. There's no magic number that goes straight to the doctor. this went on for two weeks, with my mother having to take over-the-counter Nexium in the meantime which helped but didn't fully subdue her symptoms. I finally got so frustrated with her, that I ended up switching to our primary doctors offices Pharmacy. I came to discover yesterday when I called Medicare that the "Prior Authorization" that our contact at Auburn Pharmacy had been complaining about, was not even eligible. It had expired in March of 2020... I have been trying to fill this prescription all month so far for July of 2020. She never once mentioned that to me. if it weren't for Medicare, we would never have gotten this settled and Mom would still be without her prescription. The bottom line is I would never recommend this place to anyone, they're not open on weekends and they don't seem very interested in helping you as all the other reviews will claim.
