Lots has changed, but not this place. When I was in college Kwik Fill had did a complete rebuild to make it look like it does today. Since the rebuild, does not look like much has changed. Maybe the building aged a bit, but that's about all. It is the only gas station in town. Also one of the few places to get items that are convenient. Hot food is also available if you are up for some gas station fare. Back in the day I remember coming here for some chicken strips and fries. Typical items you would find in a gas station convenience store. Typical service as well. Attentive as expected, but it seems like a bit of a joking atmosphere. Lots of joking between employees, and some of the regulars that stop in here. It appears to be a frequent spot for local authorities. You have to give it to them. It is a needed place in town and it has served its purpose all those years.

There…read morewas a plastic bag attached to the pump saying "out of service" which was initially extremely unnoticeable. Upon pulling up to the next pump ahead, the transaction machine indicated that the pump does not take card, which required entering the store to pay in cash. Over all, this gas station is an oxymoron, in that it was not "KWIK" by any means. Will not be returning to this station... I'd rather drive out of the area to a gas station with more accessible gas pumps, and better customer service during times of inconvenience.

If…read morethis would have been here when I was in college, I would have been a goner, I'm a sucker for Sheetz. If I remember correctly this use to be a auto repair shop. I recall that because I took my car there once to get it fixed. I suppose that's not too far of a stretch to replace it with a gas station and convenience store. They picked a good location as this sits at the corner or what used to be a very busy intersection. Since they extended four lane portion of Route 40 I would assume a lot of the traffic just kind of bypasses this now. I believe this was a much needed business in this area. There wasn't much selection if I recall correctly. The setup inside and out is your typical setup for a Sheetz. Enough pumps to handle a rush, enough touchscreens inside to handle a rush as well. The one added bonus of this location, if you can call it that, is that they have three PNC ATMs located behind the building for banking business. I'm guessing that was part of the stipulation for building the property. Not only did it take up the garage business, but a PNC branch office as well.

After standing there for a few, watched an employee buy something for herself and completely ignore me. Was told by another employee I couldn't buy alcohol at self checkout, no shit Sherlock. When I went to go finally get my pickup order, I was missing my Pepsi and instead of a 20 oz Red Bull they gave me a 12. I just went back in and got what I needed and returned what I didn't want which was the 12 oz. Absolutely pathetic excuse of a Sheetz. My left pink toe could run it better than that poor shit of a staff, and I don't have a pinky toe anymore.

Prices were OK. My husband and I shopped for beverages and snacks. I would prefer different types of foods such as healthier ones, but we still bought a few beverages and a few snacks. She was, excuse my language, an absolute BITCH!! I wish I could have said we were mean to her to justify the reaction, but she truly is just a sad old hag. I love Coen with all my heart but this lady? Truly makes me want to never support a Coen ever again. To preface, the lady making the food took out receipt to make it harder to get a refund, on top of looking at our receipt and lying to our faces because she did not want to have to throw another pizza into the oven. Then yelled at us for wanting to wait for the pizza. Pray for her. Genuinely. If anyone needs God, this woman does.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I've stopped her to get gas before and knew about the liquor store but had no idea about the pepperoni roll bakery hidden inside! Pepperoni rolls are near and dear to my heart. They are comfort food from home. I have rarely found them outside of West Virginia so when I visit I pretty much eat a pepperoni roll diet for a week. The pepperoni rolls here are a bit different. They are soft and light and fluffy. Most of the ones I find are made from a thicker bread that's heavy and dense. I find the pepperoni and cheese ratio in these to be perfect. Not too much of any one ingredient. I tried the special of the week which was Crab Rangoon and I wish I didn't--not that it was bad, it just wasn't a real pepperoni roll. Then of course I got a regular one and a jalapeño one. My son got one regular and as we at them in the car he asked if he could have another so I gave him my card and back he went. They were about $4.50 each. Later when we came back through town after going to Blackwater and Douglas Falls, he asked for yet another and of course I obliged. I took mine to Blackwater Falls and ate it there. Nothing like enjoying West Virginia's most iconic waterfall while eating its most iconic food (sorry WV Slaw dogs). The liquor store here is convenient. Prices were only slightly marked up except on one bottle. The distillery and other stores have it for $65-69 and they had it for $110. I would have purchased it for the real retail price. They had a great selection of WV bourbons which was very nice. We will definitely be stopping here now each time we pass through, especially since Hellbenders closed.

There were railroad tracks and several types of railroad equipment, including a couple engines and even some cabooses. Unfortunately, the tracks are a long buried and even washed away where they crossed the creek. I guess they had live animals at one time, but all I saw were some geese. I didn't get a chance to venture too far because the grass was very high and I didn't want to take a chance of getting ticks.
