Forget patient rights here, these guys make sure most people can't access their Rx by the poorest hours imaginable. It's taken me 4 days to get time around work to get to my medications. During that time I've been in horrendous pain and agony. Do they care? Nope. Open at ten am on weekends but closed by the time most are off of work. Of course they take a lunch and close the entire pharmacy because who's ever heard of staggering lunches to assure people's needs are met? Why bother having a pharmacy at all? Close this place and let community needs be met by a pharmacy that gives a flying crap.... cause this one doesn't. read more

Do not go to this Pharmacy. For the past two years and across multiple surgeries this pharmacy has failed to complete its basic function in filling prescriptions on time, if at all. My doctors have complained that the pharmacy will say refills or updated instructions were not received - and they were sent multiple times. In one case, my doctor called it in herself and they still denied receiving it until someone finally located it. The Pharmacist on duty is barely able to be baseline polite and can barely contain her distain or convey the basics should there be an issue (ex: "we need an updated Rx on file"). Rite Aid needs to invest in basic operations and customer service training for their Pharmacy department ASAP. It's an odd contrast for a store with staff cashiers that welcome you as you walk in, and have a sign on the front door that says "spread kindness". And the entire time their Pharmacists are not being polite let alone kind - and are not completing basic operational duties well if at all. I understand we are in a healthcare shortage that includes Pharmacists, but Rite Aid can and should do better to have customer service and bias training for their Pharmacy staff. People are not okay over there. I've tried to stick with it because it's so close to where I live and I want to spend my money in Benicia. But these Pharmacists are making doing basic business near impossible. And? They also give out incorrect information when they do. My doctor has had to call them multiple times to straighten them out and we are both tired of it. I'll be transferring my prescriptions and filing a complaint with corporate. This is our pharmacy for prescriptions we need right away rather than mail order. The pharmacy staff is always friendly, professional, and efficient. They make sure we understand the prescriptions we get and their purpose and potential side effects. When we need a vaccination, they have an immaculate room in which to give them and they are very good at making the shot as painless as possible. Can't say enough good things about them! I called RA once again and was told they declined my refund of $15.16 due to too many returns in their store. They sent me a report showing my ONE (1) return ever. There is no supervisor to get on the line with you and nobody returns calls. This is the worst customer service I have seen in a very long time With no resolution and RA not having a supervisor return my call, I chose to report this to the Better Business Bureau. It's not as much about the money anymore as it is about the poor customer service and the unethical business process. read more

After my wisdom tooth surgery this morning I needed my pain medicine from this pharmacy, but then we decided to pick it up close to home in Napa so we wouldn't have to wait. We left Rite Aid at about 10:30 and since then I have been in excruciating pain and without medicine because either Rite Aid Benicia failed to release my prescription to the Rite Aid in Napa, or because Rote Aid in Napa messed up. Finally at 4:15 Napa calls and confirms it is ready. Nearly 5 hours. It's been really awful. There have been many phone calls in between and confusion and I don't know why it took that long. read more

For the last three years I have had the pleasure of living close to and shopping at the Benicia Rite Aid. The store is clean, well stocked, has a wonderful store manager Michelle and staffed with helpful friendly people. Special accolades go to the pharmacists Kim and Joe. They have always gone above and beyond to care for our pharmacy needs as well as any insurance/refill issues that came up. Kim and Joe called us by name, and always treated us with human kindness, and respect. Never answer the phone, not uncommon for me to have to call 3 to 5 times in one day just to get somebody to answer. I took a moment to Google the reasons behind what would allow a pharmacist to deny filling a prescription. I learned from several articles that if certain items are missing from the prescription, the pharmacist should (and can, if willing) call the doctor, or the medical office to obtain the required information, especially if it appears minor, or seems to be an obvious oversight. With that said ... I tend to write long when I'm pissed ... so bare with me. I went to this Rite Aid and I provided my wife's prescription to the attending pharmacist, who glanced at the document then dropped it on the counter and said "I won't fill this." I asked why and she replied sharply, "... your name is missing." My wife, who was seated nearby, just had oral surgery and my goal was to make sure she had everything she needed before going home. I asked my wife to come over and with gauze in her mouth literally dripping blood, she mumbled " ... can you call them?" The pharmacist softened her tone and became a polite arsehole instead of the rude arsehole she was starting to personify, and she verbalized some sh*t that sounded like "No ma' am, I can't do this." We walked away and overheard someone giggle from behind the counter, because obviously this was some f*cking joke at our expense, but then I'm digressing from the real issue with my own sense of insecurity. So we drove directly to CVS. My wife's prescription was filled. There was not one single issue. CVS executed this without flaw, because they have a professional staff that understands the concept of customer service. From this point on, you can rest assure I'll no longer shop at any Rite Aid, because all of this inconvenienced my wife, who was literally bleeding from her face. Instead of receiving service, we had to endure a few minutes of glib inconsideration from this turd flinging proboscis (Google Image it) who became the god of all things pharmaceutical, just because she could? WTF? Perhaps this pharmacist can find a job that's much more maliciously foul, always observant, and very people focused ... kind of like Aunt Lydia on the Handmaid's Tale. She'd fit that mold perfectly. --- P.S. Rite Aid -- I just saw a couple of write ups on Yelp that shared some displeasure on how your pharmacy is managed -- especially at this location. Oddly, nothing is being done, so I'll make a suggestion. Layoff a couple of people behind that pharmacy counter and freshen the place up a bit. I would say something like re-train your staff, but then they seem hard pressed on being drug peddling syphilitic tyrants and I'm a little pissed -- so screw 'em. The economy is okay (for now) and they'll land some place else (like the south end of Hell) eventually. read more

SLOPPY!! For seven years I have requested non-childproof caps and every time they give them to me anyway even though this is in my record. With my arthritis I cannot open the bottles when I get them home and have to smash them with a hammer. This is ridiculous. They don't care about their patients. They make other mistakes as well. This is a no-nonsense compact drugstore that's been around for ages. What I like about this place is the excellent customer service I get each time I have to get a few things. This specific Rite Aid is not a fancy drugstore, but it does carry a few select items that CVS never carries. And, I also find markdowns and deals here that I do not find at CVS. Another thing I like is their popular Thrifty ice cream with a serving counter and all. You can also buy their signature ice cream at the frozen aisle, and it is often discounted. Love Rite Aid, no lines, friendly cashiers and lots of services like reloading a Green Dot card. They really have great team members who really ensure your needs are met. I can't say enough about the young lady who last helped me. I don't recall her name but she had the prettiest long blonde hair and multitasked like a pro to keep her line moving and handle my cash to card transactions. Nice job folks. I am a fan. Furthermore, she spoke to me as if I had interrupted both her manicure and her massage and like it was painful to answer my questions. They always go above and beyond to make sure that I'm taken care of they have talk to your insurance companies they called my doctors office they I always make sure that my prescriptions are filled as quickly as possible I appreciate the the pharmacy there Joe and Kim are Two of the most amazing pharmacist I have ever dealt with and I'm in my mid 40s that is to say ALOT Lillian is I believe a pharmacy tech and she is always willing to help she always knows my name.I have a total of five people in my family and she knows everybody's last name first name as well as Joe and Kim Obviously. I'm just shocked that this pharmacy does not have more stars this is a five-star pharmacy without a doubt anyhow I personally and my entire family appreciate that you always know when I send one of my daughters in to pick up my prescriptions that you always check the whole family I appreciate that also. This review is mainly for the ice cream counter. I think Rite Aid must be a descendent of Thrifty drugstores. For those of us who grew up in Southern California a few decades ago Thrifty Drugstore was the place, especially for cheap. GOOD ice cream scoops. Each scoop cost only 5 cents! That was super cheap even for that time. D and I decided we needed some ice cream to go with the Princess cake we were having for my b-day celebration with the b-day gals' club. The very sweet and friendly counter person let us sample the birthday cake ice cream (with hunks of b-day cake) and circus animal cookie ice cream (with yummy bits of those pink, blue and white frosted animal cookies). Yowza---how could something that bad taste so good? We got a smallish cup with a scoop of each flavor --I think it was under $1.50. It was the perfect amount to have with the decadent cake. read more

Went in to buy some Neosporin with my wife who had a burn on her arm. The cashier was an unfortunate looking man with a big scar on the back of his head who said nothing to us other than what the total was. My wife put her chipped card into the slot designated for cards with the new microchip. He says to her "Your going to want to slide it." To which she responded, "Oh it's the kind with the chip." He looked at her and repeated himself a little nastier this time and slower. "Your going to want to slide it." So she removed her card and slides it. Then he actually tells her you don't need to slide it again right after she had done what he asked. By this time I was very annoyed and said "I think you need to work on your instructions they are rude and confusing." As we left he could be hear by most of the store as he sarcastically shouts "Have a nice day Sir!" I can see if for some reason the card reader for chipped cards wasn't working or whatever the case may be but explain that rather than treating someone like they are stupid for using the card reader the way it was designed to be used. read more

If I could give Rite Aid in Benicia zero stars I definitely would. Their customer service and the overall attitude of their employees is appalling at the best. Whether you are in the wrong line, have a question to ask or heaven forbid want to pay for your purchases expect total uncaring disrespect. If they are so unhappy quit the job or at least the company should get rid of the manager who must set the tone. review for pharmacy: let me say this first, all their staff (at the cashier) are helpful and friendly BUT i was disappointed when I went to ask for some info at the pharmacy. so i went to buy a probiotic supplement for my baby but the one that they have says "kids". went to the cashier and asked if i could give it to an infant. she said she wasn't sure and told me to ask their pharmacist. off i go to the pharmacist and asked the same thing and in a condescending tone she told me it's for 1 yr up. (so stupid of me not paying attention to the label). so i asked her again if there's anything for babies and again in that same tone, pharmacist said, "i'm pretty sure you won't find any for babies because they're too small for probiotics". fast forward, i googled it and was able to find one for babies at Target! read more

Very friendly, helpful staff. I'd actually give it 4.5 stars today but 6 months ago, it would have been one star. The pharmacy used to be a nightmare. The last few times I've been in, there is a new pharmacist that is amazing. Wish I knew his name but he's blondish and young. He's helpful and since he came on, my prescriptions actually get filled quickly. There is a very helpful pharm tech there, as well. WORST WORST AND I MEAN WORST PHARMACY!!! Words can't even explain how terrible this pharmacy is. The lines are always so long, the girls behind the counter always are just gossiping as we sit and wait and the cashier that is always in the pharmacy with the short brown hair is VERY rude her name starts with a R. Even when I drop off, which should be a quick process is horrible, and I stand there waiting, listening to them complain about the rude customers in line. We're not rude, we are tired of waiting in line while y'all ain't doing your job. You are here to work, not too gossip while we wait. I'm going to change my pharmacy. I can't take it anymore, I thought over time they would change. First off let me say, the store looks so much better now that it has been renovated. That being said, every single employee that works there (not including the pharmacy, I haven't used their services) needs a serious attitude adjustment. It seems like they avoid having to help people check out. There is never anyone near or at the counter and when someone finally shows up, you feel like the boyfriend of someone's 16 year old daughter, unwanted and expendable. I wish I was exaggerating but literally every single time I have gone in it has been this way. Today, I was waiting patiently in line thinking someone would actually check the counter every once in a while. The person behind me had to go through the aisles to find someone and ask for help. This particular employee was one that I had not had the pleasure of meeting before. She did not say a single word to anyone in line until a family who was patiently waiting for ice cream asked for help. She told them, after they had asked several times, that the ice cream counter was closed. She then said that there were only 2 of them working and left it at that. I started paying for my items and she started telling the other employee that "now she had a headache." She gave me a bag that ripped and said have a good day. Every time I have gone in (3tines in 1 week), they have different staff and pharmacist covering from other locations. They can't find the paperwork and are very unorganized.
