Dr. Oatel is honestly the best dentist out here in the IE. She take of our lil family, hubby, myself and four children. she always helps us with our dental and ortho care. Their Ortho payment plans fits our budget and alleviates that extra financial burden of knowing we can afford it. i love the texts and the phone call reminders for our appointments as well as check ups. Worst dentist ever. Had a tooth fixed due to a crack. It was covered by insurance but the tooth right next to it that just so happened to have a crown on it fell off. Unfortunate for me I swallowed it while eating. Probably fell off due to the work they had performed. They told me of a root canal I needed on that tooth anyway which I probably wouldn't have gotten because I was in virtually no pain at all but got the root canal done anyway since I asked several times if it would all be covered on my insurance (With the crown and all). So after performing the root canal, they have me scheduled to get my crown two weeks later. It was then at that time, they tell me my insurance isn't going to cover it and it will be $750. All in all, they had me wait over a month , did half the procedure to then tell me I'm going to need to pay a large sum of money when they told me on several occasions it would be covered. Get your teeth worked on elsewhere unless you want to have surprise fees pop up. read more

I had a cracked tooth and wanted to consult DrRita Patel office for a urgent consultation. Today being Friday and long weekend coming up, i was not sure i could get an appointment. Thankfully Hetal, who is in front office was able to find an appointment time in short notice considering my situation. The process of processing my insurance information was very fast and Dr's office was genuinely friendly and kind. When i met with the Dr Rita Patel, not only she was listening to my concerns and sincerely interested in helping me, she also asked me the right questions and found out the reason why i had the cracked tooth. Dr. Patel along with her colleagues and staff are truly amazing. They are always polite and helpful~i missed an appointment and had to change more than one appointment due to a family member becoming ill and they were so kind and accommodating. The care I receive is top notch and they are fast and efficient too~all while making sure I know what's being done and answering any questions I may have throughout the procedure. As if this wasn't enough, I've never had to wait more than a week for an appointment and when I had a toothache they got me in the same day. Definitely not a place I recommend, they literally gave me the run around when asking for prices and insurance charges. They kept telling me that the person who gives you the breakdown or prices wasn't there. I called and showed up and still never got an accurate breakdown. Another issue I had was them not allowing me to accompany my child to the back, I know Covid has added some restrictions but he's a child and I should be able to be there...there's enough stories about kids who were left alone not to mention what child likes to be alone in a dentist chair? My son was having a full blown panic attack and he was alone for 20 mins until the doctor came in. I asked if I could join my son various times and various times I was told he was ok and the doctor was with him which was later confirmed by him that it was a lie. After that experience my son did not want to return here, just the thought of him being alone in the back put him in tears. I'd also like to point out that while sitting in the lobby I overheard a mother who was using medi-cal for her children say they hadn't told her how much anything was going to cost and how they never gave her a breakdown of the prices, the man whom she was talking to said he thought it was weird and said it was his first time there and he would be asking as he had a private insurance and needed to know what he would pay. This place gave me the vibe that they overcharge the insurances especially Denti-cal patients. Just something to be aware of. 1 star for the cleanliness of the place, and easy parking. read more

Took my son for an emergency and I knew that they wouldn't be able to extract the tooth due to the infection so they did prescribe some antibiotics but had to fight for his pain meds. The Dr herself told me that she would prescribe him the meds when I went to pick them up it was only for amoxicillin, which (I told them he's allergic too). I called them to ask for the ibuprofen and they told me to give him over the counter pain meds and that amoxicillin was pain meds. Eventually they gave in. Before leaving they told me they had scheduled two different appointments one for a consultation and another for the extraction. Then they contradicted each other (the front office and dr) and the front office told me we don't do consultation appointments so they pulled me to the side and told me how much it would be for his treatment. Which was just financially impossible for be at the moment and it's fine not their fault but to be just cold hearted and still say with a straight face well you need to put down money and the rest you'll figure out with no sympathy just made me feel like crap. They're communication is simply horrible and so are their people skills. I was once front office/treatment coordinator and never was rude, disrespectful and especially heartless when it came down to figuring out a payment plan. And i definitely didn't make the patient feel so bad about having medical and try to rip them off to make more money like telling them that nitro was " necessary" for a simple extraction. Yes we always offered it but never forced it on patients. Even my little kiddos dentist gives for free with medical. My main point is that front office needs better bedside manner and a little sympathy goes a long way. And maybe try a smile every now and then. I have nothing bad to say about her work just her front office staff. read more
