After wandering around Baixa and Chaido all morning, we were starving. There were so many restaurants on Rue da Agusto and we walked back and forth indecisive as to where to have lunch. We finally decided on Ristorante Vincento's because we saw they had a large menu with Portuguese food. We were a little skeptical on whether the Portuguese dishes wood be authentic and traditional as we noticed they also had an Italian cuisine menu. We ordered 2 different Cod dishes and were pleasantly surprised. They looked like traditional dishes and tasted pretty damn good. Authentic? My husband and I w ouldn't really know since we are new to Portuguese cuisine... but we thoroughly enjoyed the food and cleaned our plates. Well to be honest, my hubby had to help me finish my entree since there were huge amounts of food.

There are not shortage of places to eat while here. I happened to be walking by here when I decided to take a look at their menu. I always had to fight the urge to go for items I am already familiar with so I tried to find something I would like. They have the menu items in both Portuguese & in English. They have close quarters outdoor seating. I grabbed a seat & placed my order. The particular item I decided to go with didn't really have a name it was Parmesan chicken with cheese & some potatoes. I also ordered a lemonade, I know that they don't have none of the sugar flavored stuff it was going to be genuine lemonade. They brought out the lemonade with a sugar packet just in case it wasn't too my liking & I did need it so I was thankful. The waiter presents you with a tray of food (it's not free lol) he's basically offering you appetizers they have ready. I went with the roll of cheese with mini crackers. It was delicious. Somehow the cheese inside was like melted but not hot I don't know how. My main course arrived shortly after & I have to say I was quite pleased with it. I mean what's not to love about chicken, cheese & potatoes. The only thing they lacked here was good dessert options, outside of that a great experience with the clear language barrier between us. And you can pay with your card, just make sure your bank knows first.

Several choices of paella. I ate the paella mariscos. It was very good. The portion was a bit small but enough for a light meal.

Solid Italian restaurant in a touristy part of town. We were hungry and saw Da Vinci. Before we…read morewalked in I had to check Yelp and the reviews were solid so we decided to give it a try. Plus, my 6-year old just got off our tour bus and needed a bathroom break All of our orders came out in good time and our server was very helpful and friendly. We chatted a bit about his family in California. We ordered two steaks with wine reduction sauce. Very good. One steak was over cooked but it was fine. Clams as appetizer was awesome with the house bread. One order of lasagna and I would give it a 8/10 compared to other restaurants at home. One order of pasta carbonara. It was good but not outstanding. One order of spaghetti bolognese. That one was average. We just arrived from Barcelona a few days before Lisbon and we were missing sangria so we ordered one pitcher. It's not as good as the ones in Barcelona but then again this is not Barcelona. For dessert we ordered 3 ice cream and a tiramisu. The ice cream was over-priced at 8 Euro each. Skip dessert and go get some great pastries or gelato outside around the plaza.i

Well I was very excited to try this after seeing the photographs and reviews. I would give it…read morebetween 3 & 4 stars. Our meals were ok. I had the lasagna and it looked fantastic, it didn't taste quite as good. It kind of acidic, slightly but lacked a lot of flavour sadly. I put lots of cheese on it but is only partially fixed it. We also had a salami pizza and spaghetti boulegnese. Both were ok. Spaghetti was tasty but maybe a little fatty tasting and the pizza was thin crust but not crispy or firm at all. Just alright. We also had the fruit crepes for dessert, they were just ok, not worth having. The ones I had at Josephine up town were miles better. These were the doughy kind of texture which I don't like. Sorry it didn't blow me away as I was hoping so. But I also didn't realise it is smack in the middle of the tourist area, we had spent most of our trip uptown near Alfama and it is way more authentic and real... And way cheaper. I think fish was €50 here, and for a tiny fish. If you go uptown you cms get that for €15 max, and way bigger...

One of the most memorable dining experiences of all time. We spent 4 nights in Lisbon and came…read morehere twice, that's how great it was. I typically would avoid going to the same restaurant twice during a short stay in a city with so many good eats, if I can help it. In fact, I had already planned out all of my meals and made the proper reservations. But after having dinner the first night here, I had to cancel the reservation for our last night in Lisbon and snatch a reservation at Baldracca again. Between the two nights, we sampled almost all the items we wanted to try on the blackboard. That's part of the reason for the 2nd reservation. There were so many creative and delicious dishes that we just couldn't try with one meal between two people, so we had to come back the 2nd time. But the food is only one part (an important part) of the whole experience. We love the energy, the vibe, and the people in this little restaurant. Our first night there, we had the earliest reservation (i.e. when the restaurant open for the night). The servers got all of us in and seated, then literally had the "Listen up, this is how it goes..." to let everyone know what the restaurant is about, how many dishes to order based on how many in the party etc etc... They are very causal and basically said to enjoy and flag any of them down when ready to order or need of anything. Then they turn up the music and I felt like I am in a family or friend party event. Music blasting, dishes served, people chit chatting, laughing, just having a great time. We went back the 2nd time, the owner actually recognized us and welcomed us warmly. Because we snatched a later reservation that 2nd night, he even sat down at the end of the meal to talk to us a bit. Upon learning that we are visiting Porto next, he took some time to write down restaurant recommendations on a piece of paper and handed to us and offered us to try some of the sweet wine they made (which was absolutely delicious). We took a picture with him and honestly can't thank him enough. Truly a very special place because of the food, the atmosphere, and the people!

And thus, in no particular order, while trying to work my way through the large number of places I…read morewent, and wrote review drafts for, on our trip to Portugal a couple months ago... I get to by far the worst restaurant I've been to in a while, at least in a case where I was certainly expecting the opposite, and one of the worst reviews I've written in a long time. I have no idea what entirely different-sounding restaurant most of these people went to... it started out badly, when we got there, the first ones after they opened, for our reservation, the music was quite loud, so after being seated, we asked our server if she could turn it down, and she gave her an irritated look and stomped off. We think she turned it down a tiny bit for a couple minutes, then turned it back up even louder. My wife literally said (I was facing the other direction) that she saw that waitress trying to talk to another waiter and having a hard time due to the music volume. Wasn't quite the right vibe for 12:30 for lunch, was a bit more of a late evening bar vibe, music-wise? But also yeah, our waitress had a bit of an attitude. We talked about just walking out and going somewhere else, which I wish I had, but I'd seen so many great reviews, and we had a reservation, so we ordered a couple things, which did arrive pretty quickly there after. We tried, at the time (though I get the impression the menu probably also rotates pretty often) Potato cabbage chorizo balls - super bland, they just tasted like shaped balls of mashed potato. Didn't taste any chorizo or even cabbage, really. Boring. Squid - the worst squid I'd had in a while. The sauce was tasty enough but nothing amazing; the squid itself was way over-cooked, also, over-*grilled* specifically, it tasted charred. I still ate it, but it definitely wasn't worth 16 euros. A "pickled rabbit/quince/chorizo", because I was just so curious what it was. This one was actually super fun, unique and interesting, saving the restaurant as a whole from only getting one star. I was surprised after the other two. I've definitely never had anything like it before, and likely never will. There were a whole bunch of flavors, all great. But their menu is a chalk-board, so I have no idea if it's still being served, or if it disappeared from the menu a week after I was there in January. Their wine is also very much... American priced. If it were in Long Beach, 9 euro (or its American equivalent) for a glass of the house wine would seem very reasonable, and if it were in Los Angeles, it'd be downright cheap - in Portugal, though, I'd gotten used to much cheaper glasses of wine, so that was a bit surprising. I did like that they had a by-the-glass orange wine, though, so obviously I had a glass of the house orange wine. It was pretty decent. I'd have been happy for a red or white wine for half the price, though, as seemed common for similar restaurants nearby. That wouldn't have mattered so much if the food had been, overall, better, though, and the service hadn't been... a little snotty.
