Very good service and food. Tucked away in a small alley, from outside doesn't look like much, but inside is quite nice. Owner spoke some basic English, good enough for ordering. Food was great.

The dining room 'chef cam'. Can't get away with dropping the filet on the floor and dusting it off...

Thank you to Trip Advisor for showing this as the top dinner restaurant in Barga. Come on Yelpers- there are only a few reviews for this gem. Great hospitality, good with English too. Menu is in English. Located in the pedestrian only area of Barga. It would be only a local secret if not for the hundreds of reviews on Trip Advisor. Crowd seemed to be split half & half locals and tourists. The food was great and extremely reasonably priced as well. Filet Mignon with shaved truffles for only 22€ each. The Primi burata filled ravioli was wonderful. Sides of roasted potatoes and vegetable soufflé were excellent as well. Shared a decent bottle of Brunello, had two desserts, two cappuccinos and it all was 110€. Not to mention it is their standard practice to serve glasses of Prosecco upon arrival. Evviva Scacciaguai!

Was here in July 2014 and what a great surprise. We have eaten at L'Altana many times and love it but tried here. Niccolo and I think his brother Roberto were fantastic. The truffle pasta was unbelievable and cooked perfectly Al Dente. We also sat on the porch. Below review is correct as it is not big and that is because it use to literally be someone's house and Italian houses are not huge in the first place! Our view was of trees and vegitation and it was nice. The Fiorentine steak was fantastic. It is meant to be not more that medium rare which is how you should eat a steak anyways so as not to kill and already dead cow!! :) The sides were fantastic and the lava cake was great. Service is more typically "American" as they pay attention to you where as most other Italian restaurants let you be which is culturally the norm. As in all of Italy there is a "service charge" which includes your bread. Other review is correct as you do not get olive oil or plates which is not customary, but just ask and they will be happy to get them. Also be aware that the bread has little to no salt - it's to wipe up your plate btw!!! :) Walked by one other night and the brothers said hi. Our friend was having a birthday so they dragged us in and have us an entire bottle of prosecco! It between this restaurant and L'Altana for the best with L'Altana edging them out. With one - you're not going wrong!!!

Truffle with my pasta, vegetable soufflé and beef

Food was excellent and enough to share with my husband. The owner came around and gave us explanation of Pinot Nera we ordered and explained how truffles were in season. We finished all of our dishes. We got the truffle pasta first course, beef as second course with a side of vegetable soufflé. We are staying at the Renaissance and it was close to the hotel. The restaurant was really unique and quaint. We sat on a small porch with two other tables but weren't crowded. Would definitely recommend.

This is our last night in Tuscany. This meal was amazing. Truffle, truffle and more truffle followed by a dark chocolate soufflé filled with melted white chocolate and a mozzarella cheesecake that is like nothing we've ever had before. Top it off with extremely quick, attentive and gracious service. This is one place not to be missed.

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel but I was a little disappointed. the outside terrace was tiny (enough for only 2 tables, 3 at a push) with an unpleasant view of discarded rubbish below! The welcome was nice though,a glass of Prosecco was offered as we sat down, followed by fresh bread (but no olive oil, no balsamic and no plate.. )The starter was excellent but the steak was overcooked. That said the wine was excellent-you are charged only for what you drink so its really good value. I will probably give it another visit.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Waiter was super friendly, taking time to explain their wines in detail and food options. They even have a kids menu with sizeable portions for older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was definitely the best wine we had with meals in Florence. Gnocchi and wild boar taglietelle were outstanding. Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good

The steak came out with great presentation. Sizzling on a hot plat. Giant piece of meat. We easily finish all the meat, so it was good. The steak tasted normal though - not as beefy as dry aged beef, or not as flavorful at some other places i have tried (Porteno in Sydney), Just regular red meat taste. A little not salty enough. For sure not the best steak i have ever eaten. Probably due to the simple way how Florentine steaks are cooked. The tiramisu was also mid. Servers were somehow all non-Italian (Indians), so that gave me a touristy vibe. But whatever lol. Anyways, it was still a good dinner date overall, so just want to leave it at a positive note.

Since we knew we couldn't finish the gigantic Florentine steak, we opted for the rib eye steak. I was particularly impressed with the steak. It was surprisingly tough considering it was rib eye. Did not notice much marbling on the rib eye either. On the other hand, I did enjoy the Beef Ragu as it provided tender chunks of beef in a tomato and carrot based ragu sauce. Very tasty and the pasta was tender and good bite to it. The service was subpar and uneven for us. Nobody even acknowledged us for 10 min after we sat and I had to flag someone to help us. The waiter seemed disinterested and just asked whether we are ready to order. Seems like they didn't know who was supposed to serve my table. Oh well. Guess I won't be coming back give all the restaurant options in Florence.
