Love this place! The vibe is fun, loud (in a good way) and feels like one big family party. You can come with a few friends or a family group and just settle in. The food is fantastic - homemade by the chef (Frank) and his team who clearly care about every plate. Nothing is over salted and the flavors are spot on. The daily specials are worth trying and I love the extensive appetizers which are great for sharing. Don't miss the homemade pasta fagiole soup! Free bread (yes!) served with delicious olive oil. I had the Sunday dinner which came with mushy meatballs, what tasted like primo store bought sausage and a sparerib. The service was good but for a weekend, they should have had more than one kid taking orders. Ambiance- was nice but really should have more than one bathroom, just saying. Food was great as was our waiter, Matthew. He was very professional and pleasant. The food is always outstanding. What ruined it for us was the owner's sister, Maria. As we had just received our check and waiting for our waiter to take the money, Maria came over to us and, in a very loud and nasty voice, told us we had to hurry up and leave as they needed the table. It is not like we dilly-dallied during the meal. Food, etc. took a while to arrive which was understandable as it was Christmas Eve and the restaurant was busy. She totally ruined what was a lovely dinner. If she can't handle a little bit of pressure, she shouldn't be working in that position. She is a really bad representative for a great restaurant. Our friends made reservations for the 4 of us to sit outside on a Saturday night. The weather was great as is their byob policy. We had drinks and ordered salads and grilled artichoke as starters. The menu has a lot of interesting selections and there are also some intriguing specials. I opted for "fileja con zucchine," sautéed zucchini with shrimp in a green sauce over pasta...absolutely delicious! Everyone else at the table enjoyed their dishes including the giant piece of swordfish that my wife had. For dessert, we split a tartufo 4 ways, it was a perfect way to end our dining experience. Let me start by saying that the food is at least four stars. However the service and the time it takes to get food is a different story. I made reservations for inside just in case of bad weather. As it turned out, weather was great but the outside (beautiful) was packed. That meant we were seated at a very tight table inside for 2 yet the table next to us never became occupied so we could have had a combined table as I noticed around me. Our server was very sweet but forgot to mention a few of the specials and got us a wrong appetizer. Food took long, especially our entrees. We over heard another table complaining about the same issue. I understand the food is made fresh to order but the lag times where excessive. Unfortunately for the owner, his sister, Maria, is totally unhinged and has a terrible habit, as outlined in other reviews, of screaming at the customers. Our bill was $400+ and our very nice waiter brought it with our dessert. As soon as we finished dessert, we put payment in the folder. No one came to pick it up. Maria approached us raving mad and screaming that she needed the table because people were waiting. We said "of course" and handed her the payment, but that did not appease her. She continued to yell at us in front of the whole restaurant. It was very embarrassing and extremely unnecessary. She obviously needs anger management courses. She also announced loudly that she was the owner's sister. I guess she thought that made her special. I feel very sorry for him. He has a lovely restaurant with good food, but after our interaction with Maria, we could never recommend this restaurant and certainly will never return. read more

This was the worst service and the worst food I've had in such a long time. Horrible experience start to finish. We waited over an hour and a half for our entree with no explanation from our waiter...in fact we never saw him again after he took our order. The veal was tough and in a white tasteless sauce and the mushroom ravioli was mushy floating in straight up butter instead of the mushroom demiglaze as described. When we complained, a waitress flipped out on us and told us we were crazy, handed us a check and offered nothing to make it better...not even coffee or dessert. Ww were seated promptly and were immediately served drinks and bread. We split an artichoke salad as an appetizer and that's where the pleasant experience ended. Although the food was high quality and very tasty, it took 90 minutes to be served. Once the salad was served, our waiter seemed to forget that we existed. After waiting one hour, we did ask a busboy if he would check on our meals. His immediate response was "didn't you just eat your appetizer?" We had to educate him that we finished our appetizer one hour earlier. In the end, we waited 90 minutes to receive our meals. There did not appear to be anyone with management authority in the restaurant and it was not crowded until just before our meals arrived. It is noted the staff does not pour the wine, I am thinking maybe they are not of age to do so. No owner or manager spotted on site. Very impressed with young servers that worked so hard on a busy Saturday evening and memorized the extensive specials. I'm happy to see young people being trained in hospitality and I imagine the diners have high expectations. First time here and I have to say it was a definite 5 star. Perfectly made meals to exceptional service. Family owned and operated. Named after THE Owner Frankie's Mom. Each meal is made to order. The ingredients are all very fresh. The smell coming from the kitchen is like being home on Sunday for dinner. I had salmon in a delicate tomato base, garlic, olive oil and I think a touch of wine and lemon. Served over spinach with roasted potatoes. The flavors of this dish is still lingering in my mind and I can't wait to go back. Generous portions for a hungry appetite. Love this restaurant. Returned last night to celebrate my daughters Birthday . Table of six No one licked their plate but we did mop them clean with the crusty bread. Bucatini All Amatriciana was off the hook. Love the Calamari and mussels app.The gluten free birthday girl had the ravioli special and loved it. No Brioschi needed . Our waiter was outstanding. We ordered Mussels, Veal stuffed tomato, and braised baby Octopus. Our waiter explained the nightly specials with perfect detail. The starters were amazing and my entree was exceptional. I recently attended a baptism at this intimate but lovely restaurant. The restaurant is small but the party hosts were able to close the entire restaurant for our affair. The bathroom was ADORABLY decorated and had a place on the sink for me to be able to change my infant. I really appreciated that! The food was delicious. I had the veal pizziola which I DREAM about. The pasta course was also great and the pasta they served was very hot. The atmosphere of the place is homey, rustic chic. We took some family photos outside that came out beautiful. As we were packing the car to leave, a very honest waitress came running out to us. The hosts had left behind a card (gift envelope) which she returned to us. We obvs later gave it to our friend. Despite the fact that my husband and I eat in restaurants at least three times per week, I have never felt the need to write a horrible review like the one I'm writing now.  This was my first time at Giorgia. My good friends had been there a few times, and said the food was good, so we decided  to go. The evening started out okay, and we were enjoying ourselves. Our dinners finally came, and my husband, who did not have a fork, asked the young busboy to bring him a fork. That's when all hell broke loose. A minute later, our waitress, whose name was Maria, started yelling at my husband, accused him of "being drunk" and demanded that we all leave the restaurant.  Apparently, the busboy was her son, and when my husband asked him for a fork, he ran over to his mother and claimed that my husband "yelled" at him.  First of all, if you've ever been to Giorgia on a weekend night, it is very crowded and loud, so you have to speak loudly to be heard at your table.  Plus, my husband, who was NOT drunk (we hadn't been there that long) tends to speak loudly to begin with.  Next, the owner, Frank, came out of the kitchen, told us to "finish your food and leave."  My friend Tom, who has known Frank for several years, attempted to speak with him so that he could get our side of the story, but Frank wouldn't even give him the courtesy of hearing what we had to say, or even trying to deescalate an already bad situation. The right thing to do would have been to tell Maria to go take a break and calm down because NO ONE should EVER behave like that, especially when she is totally reacting to whatever nonsense her son told her.  Long story short, Maria, continued to behave in a deplorable manner, totally unbefitting someone who works with customers in a restaurant, and we ended up paying the bill and leaving.  Here's where it really gets ugly. Maria, her son, and another employee followed us outside, and while the son continued to follow my husband to the car, threatening him with bodily harm, Maria went over to my friend, who up to this point had said absolutely nothing, got right in her face, and proceeded to scream at her, and called her  "a  f**king white trash bitch!"    If I wasn't so angry and appalled I would have found it quite amusing that this "lady" and I use the word loosely, would have the audacity to call us "f**king white trash" with a disgusting gutter mouth like hers.      I cannot believe we were treated like this. We did absolutely NOTHING wrong! My husband asked for a lousy FORK, and as a result we were screamed at, insulted, and threatened. Obviously, we will NEVER go back to this restaurant, and we will definitely spread the word about the deplorable way we were treated. read more

Went to dinner tonight. Arrived about 7:00 and were seated outside, there were 4 of us. We ordered and about 15 minutes later we got our apps. Homemade ricotta with prosciutto and a Salads. At about 7:45 they never cleared our apps or the table next to us. About 8:00 the table next to which was a family with a young child, asked about their dinner. The waitress said she was waiting also. About 15 minutes later the table next to us got up and started to leave. They told the waitress they couldn't wait any longer. They were nicer than I would have been. I don't know what happened next, but 3 left and 2 stayed to pay the bill, I think. They waited forever and then, everyone sitting in earshot of the kitchen door, heard yelling from the open kitchen door to the outside. Someone in the kitchen said: Tell them to get the F*** out of my restaurant. Then repeated it several times, with other words attached. The woman was visibly upset by this, but they still waited for the check, which took forever to come. After those comments I would have just left, but they didn't stoop to their level. The food is good, but cursing at a customer is not acceptable. I think customer appreciation is dead. read more

I was extremely skeptical as I entered Ristorante Giorgia, given that a large percentage of the Italian restaurants around the area lack real flavor with inflated price tags. But I was completely converted when I left Giorgia. By far the best dish was the sauteed calamari, with so many different flavors bursting through. It had a little heat, nuttiness from the pine nuts, sweetness from raisins, and a little tang from olives. The calamari itself was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to order this dish again. The fennel and orange salad was very good. My pasta with San Marzano plum tomatoes with guanciale, onions, white wine and pepper over bucatini was fantastic. Flavorful, well-cooked pasta and a buzzing with a kick of slight heat. Beautiful dish that I was so grateful for the leftovers. A full portion dish is enough to share between two people. Service was great overall. Easily one of the best restaurants in the Monmouth County area. I truly look forward to dining there again. read more

Let me start by saying we go out to eat a lot. I don't think I've ever seen such disregard for customers. We arrived 10 minutes early for our 8:45 PM reservation. We were told we would be seated shortly and had to wait outside. Mind you it is January and we wound up sitting outside for over 50 minutes without anyone coming out to even acknowledge us. Why take a reservation if you don't have tables available, and are going to have your potential customers sitting out in the cold. I should have read the reviews before booking the reservation as this disregard seems to be a common theme. I cannot rate the food since we never got a table. After waiting an hour outside with no heaters or place to sit, we decided to walk right across the street to red horse and had a fantastic steak. I don't care how good the food is if you don't value me as a customer, then I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere. read more

we have frequented this restaurant several times over the last year and the only saving grace is the food. THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE LAST YEAR. we had an 8:00 reservation and despite empty tables the hostess did not seat us until almost 8:30 and then it took until almost 9:00 to even get a glass of water and place our order. It is an attractive comfortable rustic Italian restaurant with a large outdoor dining area.There are many choices and specials and we had the veal and pesto lasagna, which was a huge serving,and the rack of lamb, double lamb chops perfectly cooked herb encrusted Delicious! Last Friday, our first time at this restaurant and it will be our last. Zero stars is not an option on this site. Be careful what you ask for! We noticed a female staff member yelling at a customer accusing him of being drunk and were told to leave. The customer did not appear or act drunk, just shocked. Then a male employee came out and told them to leave. Being curious, we asked what happened? Another customer informed us that the accused customer told the busboy he needed a fork and the busboy's mom (the server) came out yelling with accusations. The male was the owner. Wow, it was very loud in the restaurant so perhaps there was a miscommunication. The behavior of the staff was so inappropriate. They acted as if a "crime" was committed. The customers left without incident on their part. Seems to me like a bunch of hotheads run this restaurant. There are safer choices. read more

I'm shocked Yelp has rated this place 3 stars! This needs to be changed the food here is excellent! It has lots of different variety of pastas and sauces all made from scratch. The owner who was born in Italy preps from 10am-4pm every day just to make everything fresh and home made. There are loads of specials here to choose from too. They offer half portions and full portions as well. They also have seafood and meats as well, but trust me the pasta dishes are the way to go! As I read the reviews I noticed people loved the food, but didn't like the tight seating. Yes, this place is small and the seating is close together, but the food certainly makes up for it. I didn't have to wait long for any of my dishes either as other yelpers had complained about. We had 3 appetizers a half over of bucatini pasta, half order of ravioli stuffed with cauliflower, and an eggplant stuffed with veal. All insanely delicious! For entrees were the seafood special and the home made lasagna stuffed with veal both outrageous, but to me the lasagna was the best! You can have seafood anywhere, but pasta made from scratch is a rare find in NJ. I can't even put to words how amazing the lasagna was order it and found out for yourself just how delicious it was! Desserts were the cannoli and the Italian cheesecake. The cannoli was very good and fresh, but the Italian cheesecake I just thought was ok. They didn't have much of a dessert selection on the night I went and that would be my only complaint. It would be nice if they add a carrot cake, New York cheesecake, and some sort of chocolate cake to the menu as I didn't care much for the selection they had. I have never written a review until now and I dine out weekly. Our table for four was extremely tiny. When I asked the waitress for separate checks she replied "I've never had someone ask me for separate checks." I'm assuming she's new to the service industry. We waited 45 minutes for appetizers, which was fine because we were catching up with friends. My husband ordered the filet mignon (small), nicely cooked but he was given 4 small pieces of roasted potato (not even a whole potato) as a side. My meal was bland, and minimal. When we were asked to please vacate the table after 90 minutes because they needed it, I was annoyed, especially after waiting so long for the apps. Also, we were given one check. Overpriced and pretentious. So many great restaurants in Red Bank and the surrounding area, but this is not one of them. read more
