On a recent visit to England, my family invited me and my traveling companion for dinner at a traditional English country pub. It was a charming place in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by open fields. Country.
Their menu offred a lot of traditional English pub fare, such as Steak & Mushroom Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Steak & Kidney Pudding, Fish & Chips, and more. And then they have Piri Piri Chicken, Indian Infused Lamb, Moroccan Prawn Curry, and others. Did I see Katsu Curry on the daily specials. There are enough choices to satisfy any taste.
I had the Steak & Mushroom Pie (Homemade 'open pie' served with shortcrust pastry, fresh seasonal vegetables & a choice of potatoes) and it was very good. The meat was tender and tasty. The pie crust, resting on top, was flaky with a nice texture. Very good dish. The veggies and potatoes were served in larger portions for sharing, family style.
Everybody else seemed to be quite happy with their meals and adult beverages. The service was good, very friendly. This was a very good evening. read more
