Round the corner and to the back is the pool table room where I've enjoyed beating my good friend on many occasions. They have seating to the front and in a small garden to the back, plus a small car park. It's a nice tidy pub, with friendly staff and fairly good beer. The area outside, at the immediate rear, has been decked and covered over and the car park has been improved immensly. There is a childrens play area and it is very evident that this is a family friendly pub. The food is from a well balanced, unpretentious and reasonably priced menu and is always spot on. It's hard to resist a delicious beef baguette with gravy and real chunky home made chips! As well as providing a great place to drink and eat, The Flying Ferret is making a difference in Shelley as a place to meet and is doing great fund raising for various local charities. I don't get it, this place should be on everyones list to visit at least a couple of times a month, i'm guessing their Sunday roasts would be off the charts good. I'd certainly head back.
