Newbie in town! The homemade Italian pasta makes me coming back next week.
I was very desperately searching for our Saturday dinner place for three girls in the afternoon. And you know most you hear is 'we are fully booked tonight'. OF COURSE. I accidentally saw some reviews about this bar and featured in their Dim Sum style Venetian dishes. I was not impressed by the seafood in Venice and look forward to this Hong Kong version. No website, just facebook with a easy to order menu. Tick tick tick. Fried scarmoza, Chargrilled octopus potato salad, 72 hour spare rib...totally intrigued.
Quietly seated in Kau U Fong. Thanks to them I can avoid Soho for a weekend night. Bar seating and dark chic deco. They highlight their whisky list, but for dinner I sticked to wine. We started with Fried Scarmoza (Italian milk cheese, similar to Mozzarella). It brought me back to rice cake somehow, haha. Then classic meatballs. I broke my rules for beef and finished two of them. And we finished first drinks and looking out for the rib. 72 hour Spare Rib. The long waited piece arrived while sizzling. The little fat in between is perfect for the texture. And the Strozzapretti Pasta with homemade Sausage marked my night. I had a few best pasta in NYC. This one is the closest I found in HK. The rosemary, thyme balanced the tomato base and defines homemade. It is a must-try. The pasta is made without eggs. See how you like that. read more
