Chris was very professional and knowledgeable. My split air unit went out during bomb cyclone. Chris checked my electrical panel and said it had to be an issue with the roof unit but I don't have access to the roof. I'm sorry to do this, but I must bring attention to the recent disappointing service from Riser. In October 2017, I worked with Riser to review electrical of my apartment, and had a positive experience, and we discussed plans for the future. On Tuesday 09/18/18, I contacted Riser to request an appointment to review electrical work I would like to have done. Chris responded that he could come by on Thursday 09/20. I requested a specific appointment time, but did not receive a response. I waited at home on Thursday 09/20, but Chris neither showed nor contacted me. On Monday 09/24, I called agin and Chris offered an appointment time of Saturday 09/29 at 2 pm. On 09/29, I called to confirm the appointment time, and left a voice message. On Saturday 09/29, I called Chris at 12:30 pm to confirm the 2 pm appointment. He did not answer. The appointment time came and went and I heard nothing. I followed up both the afternoon of 09/29 and this morning, 10/01. All calls have gone to voice mail. Essentially, I've been stood up for two appointments, and I'm truly surprised. If the quote had been amenable, I was ready to hire Riser for the job, as the meeting in October 2017 went so well. This is so disappointing. read more

I had a very positive experience with this company and the reason for one star is detailed at the end of this review. I needed a dryer installed and it required a new box to accommodate the 240 volt. After three electricians ghosted me, Chris at Riser called me right back and came by to give me an estimate the same day. Work was completed the following day and he did an excellent job. Chris does not believe in short cuts and all work was done by the book. I would definitely recommend this company. I have no idea if their prices are competitive because I couldn't get anyone else to come. I'm going to assume they are. 1/24/19. Addendum to this review. My ceilings are crazy tall (13 ft.), and most electricians I reached out to for quotes just asked, "Do you have a ladder we can use?" Chris from Riser electric was really great! We have a townhouse that was divided into two apts. The developer we purchased the house from had ignorantly wired the basement to the garden apt level because he was attempting to sell the house as a "double duplex" because they had "finished" the basement. Unfortunately, the garden apt could not be a duplex as the basement had no windows and ceiling height of only 6'7". Therefore, we had to separate the basement with a hallway. This turned both the hallway and basement into "shared" spaces with us (the landlords). Hence, Con-Ed (and our tenant) required a 3rd meter installation for the basement and shared spaces of our townhouse. Chris very professionally walked us through the whole complicated proceedure and maintained prompt communication with us through the whole ordeal. He and his coworkers were very reliable, friendly and professional. If we ever have any other electrical issues, Riser will definitely get our business! Grateful to have found Chris and Ivan. My tenant blew a fuse using a space heater before Christmas and I couldn't get the power back on by myself......I found Riser here and Chris was over before noon. Diagnosed the problem and broke the news that it was time for an upgrade...it was inevitable this house is OLD. He sent me a written detailed proposal the same day with a fair price, we scheduled the work at a time that worked for me (!!!). He was never pushy or intimidating. They wrapped up the work today. I'm now obsessively watching my newly installed Nest app and plan to rest a bit more easily tonight. Note: The painters and patchers that came through after them sang Ivan's praises because he kept and labeled all the Sheetrock pieces for easy replacement. Experience started out well. Quick response and Chris sounded very professional on the phone. I had to move a light fixture on a concrete ceiling. His quote was higher than others but I decided to hire him anyways because how professional and knowledgeable he sounded on the phone. BIG MISTAKE! I had a 9am appt and his employees arrived 2 hours late. I called and texted and Chris never picked up nor responded once to my calls or texts. I even thought it was a no-show. How i wish it was! His guys finally arrived and were surprised to find out i had a 9am appt. They said chris called them to tell them to come to me because i had an emergency! They proceeded to do the job and I went to work in the office while they moved the fixture. Since they had to drill into the concrete ceiling and would be creating tons of dust, i had assumed they would cover up the area with plastic tarp! Another BIG MISTAKE on my part to assume they'd be professional! When i went into the living room after they were done, the whole apt was covered in dust! Sofa, shelves, cushions, switches, cords, books, everything and everywhere! It looked like an apt that's been abandoned for 20 years! Not only did they not cover the area, they didn't even close my bedroom and bathroom doors and dust covered all the surfaces in those rooms too! It took me 5 hours to do a superficial clean up and i will have to hire a professional cleaning company to do a deeper cleaning! What's more shocking is that I texted chris after to say that i was surprised that he never bothered to respond to my calls and texts about being 2 hours late and that it was very unprofessional that his guys didn't cover up the apt and created so much dust everywhere. No response. No apologies. I seriously think all the good reviews are fake. read more

Fox and Jamal came over to take care of two jobs - extending wiring behind the plaster and durock walls in the older Sheepshead Bay houses - added a junction box and receptacle. Tucked everything away nice and neat. And add another receptacle in a pantry area. Very knowledgeable, willing to collaborate on where I wanted to the receptacles and willing to run things so that there was minimum exposure to view. Fast, courteous, knowledgeable. The finished job was neat and good for me to move onto the next phases of the projects easily. They cleaned up as they worked. At the completion of the job, I finally had to kick them out and stop them from more extensive cleaning. I was happy to find Riser Electric because they were able to respond quickly to an apartment with about half the lights out. The tech identified the problem as quite a few overloaded circuits. They restored service temporarily. Since the apartment has old circuit breaker panel with hard to find replacement breakers they recommend a panel replacement. read more
