Strawberry cheesecake pancakes
Jojo M.

Great natural lighting and ambiance in the restaurant. Unique brunch menu, we started with the breakfast arancini and I had a breakfast bowl and strawberry cheesecake pancakes. Everything was great, arancini was an awesome way to start, breakfast bowl was solid, the potatoes and grilled onions were really complimentary to the bowl. The sauce on the pancakes was a perfect way to balance it and wasn't too sweet. Ruby was a great server, she was quick and attentive. I'd recommend for brunch or dinner now that I've had both!

This is a new brunch spot located in Lake Orion. My sister and I wanted to get together for brunch and when our kids said they wanted to come with us we gladly obliged. They do not take reservations and this place gets packed. We were able to put our names in and they text you when your table is ready. We went next door to sage brush for a margarita while we waited. They told us 30 minutes but it only ended up being 15. That was definitely a bonus. They had a lot of unique choices for drinks so that was fun. They even made my sister a special drink that wasn't on the menu. The drinks took some time so just be patient. They were all delicious! The food menu was great! There were a ton of choices. I love eggs Benedict so I was excited to see several variations of it. I ended up with Southern Style which was a biscuit with a sausage patty poached egg and sausage gravy. I'm very picky about my biscuits and gravy and they did a wonderful job with them. Everyone devoured their food. Our waitress was great and even took pictures of us. The restaurant itself is small but charming. They have a little area that our sons hung out in and played connect four and tick tac toe in. I guess you can tell we really enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely come back.

Emerald Hour and The Pearl, vodka cocktails.

Sat the downstairs bar. Great ambiance. Not crowded but not empty. Parking is getting nearly impossible in Lake Orion on a Saturday night. Ordered vodka drinks, The Pearl and The Emerald Hour. Both exceptional. Ordered the Prime Tenderloin Trio sliders and the Ahi Heat. The sliders were good, and the onions weren't overpowering. The aioli was fantastic. The beef, however, was a bit on the chewy side, which was a bit distracting. (Think: having to bite down hard and pull the burger away and hope it doesn't all come sliding out). The Ahi Heat was a masterpiece. Fresh ingredients, some heat from the jalapeños, all balanced by the tuna and the rice, and beautifully presented with microgreens as a garnish. The rice was very good, nearly a rice pilaf, but perfectly crispy. Service at the bar was great, not slow, not rushed. It set a relaxed tone. Zac mixes a mean drink and tells a meaner dad joke. The atmosphere is laid back. Some folks dressed up, some more casual. We didn't make it to the bar upstairs, but we will for sure come back and try that. I heard they have a lounge with a fireplace? Yes please. For being new, Rise Lounge is doing it right already. Looking forward to our return.

This was a great spot! The food and drinks were amazing! Our server Sylvia was the best! We will be back

Excellent food and service, our waitress Paige was great! We will be coming back to try additional items on the menu as they appear to have many different dishes that I'm sure will hit the spot!

Wife and friend went for brunch. No place to park. Food was cold. May need some work on their communication between the kitchen and servers.

The food prices were listed on the menu, but the margaritas had NO prices listed. We each ordered a jumbo margarita, which seemed to be around 20 oz. When we finally got our bill, we found out they were about $18 EACH. Had the price been disclosed on the menu, we absolutely would not have ordered them. Two margaritas added roughly $36 to our dinner bill, and our total ended up around $85 for two people eating tacos/Tex-Mex. As for the food, my taco salad was huge and very good, so I have no complaint there. My friend's taco combo, however, was a very small portion--one little taco with rice and beans--and he ended up ordering another $6 taco because he was still hungry. We also waited quite a while to get our bill while there seemed to be an issue with a takeout order. My biggest complaint is the drink pricing. I don't mind a restaurant charging whatever price it chooses, but customers should be able to see the price BEFORE ordering. Finding out only when the bill arrives that two margaritas cost around $36 feels very misleading. Good taco salad, but the undisclosed drink prices left a terrible impression. Put the prices on the menu and let customers decide for themselves whether they want an $18 margarita.

Can we talk about Margaritas? Well, this place can with…read moreconsistency! There Apricot Margaritas are delicious but not for the faint of heart, a bit spicy in the lips. All I can say is keep them pouring. The Cowboy Burrito is pretty darn good and enough to share. Micala (spell check) our waitress the last time is pretty good too. Ambience/atmosphere sucks as the place has been open for over a year and is just wood slapped in the walls. Need to finish like yesterday.

The front is well maintained and welcomes you through the door to a gorgeously decorated dining room and bar. Seating is somewhat limited (it's a small space) but we got there during a slower period so we were sat right away. The brunch menu has a good variety and I opted for the Avocado Croast (the "toast" was a croissant) and a drip coffee. Beware that the drip coffee gets only one free refill. I asked during ordering because there are some places that don't give any free refills. Hubby ordered the Huevos Rancheros served in a bowl. The food came out beautifully and was very fresh. If I wanted to nitpick, I'd say they are keeping the roasted potatoes in a steamer which is making their crispy outer layer somewhat soggy but they still tasted good. They should revisit how they are keeping them warm or crisp them quickly before serving. The avocado toast didn't have a lot of avocado but it was still good. They should consider adding some sea salt to top it off - it would enhance the overall flavor. The service was good - I think our server wasn't comfortable in this job. That was okay for us as she warmed up to us after a while. All in all, a nice experience for our first time there. I'd like to return to try other menu items in the future.

After trying the Rochester Brunch House (RBH) the day before, my wife noticed Saint 1881 was…read moreserving brunch, so we gave it a try. We thought it looked very similar to RBH, but after talking to our server she explained it was owned by the same owner. Like its sister restaurant it is a restored church with high ceilings and chandeliers, with an elegant yet comfortable feel. It's larger and a little more upscale than RBH with much more outside seating at the front entrance, near the street, and at the side (where we sat). Looks more suited for cocktails and wine, than food forward. The brunch menu is scaled down from RBH, but similar. I ordered the Chicken Omelette (omelette version of the Chicken Scramble at RBH, which I enjoyed the day before). It was noticeably smaller and less flavorful, but still was ok, though priced the same. Be prepared as a cup of coffee is $5. Yikes! We sat outside just after opening and hoping to have a beautiful relaxing breakfast. However, they seemed to have chosen a club like playlist from some pretty loud outdoor speakers, which felt very out of place, Maybe it was purposeful to get people revved up, but still, just felt off. Our server was warm, friendly and said some very kind things about the owner. She even told us how the restaurant got its name. Apparently there was a huge fire which destroyed several churches in the area and in 1881 this church was the first to be rebuilt. Saint 1881 pays homage to their roots. Very nice tribute. Our food took a little longer than expected since we were the only customers at the time, but not overly excessive. Between the beautiful outside seating, friendly service, interesting history, we will be back - maybe for cocktails or a nice glass of wine.
