He came, looked at all the work to do and quoted me a reasonable price. So I said yes. After half a day trying to strip it, he asked me if I wanted entirely new railings for the same price, instead of stripping the old ones, which didn't want to be stripped. I said ABSOLUTELY! He promised to do a great job and he ended up doing a BEAUTIFUL job! (See pics). I really was dumbfounded on how amazing it came out. It was way better than I was first expecting, as he doesn't have a carpentry business, but it really came out stunningly beautiful. Granted, he started in the fall, and I had to wait till the spring for him to finish, and he's not exactly an early morning start worker, but none of that really matters because the finished product far exceeds my expectations. And he's a really nice guy too. I recommend Greg and High Country Painting and Drywall. He's very talented!

My initial review prompted the company to berate me via text message essentially forcing me to…read moreremove the review. After much consideration I have decided that my experience should be shared. Pros: friendly and punctual crew Cons: sloppy work that damaged our stucco, flashing cut haphazardly, fasteners in questionable locations, heat tape placed in incorrect orientation and incorrect location, roof vents out of plumb, and poor cleaning of job site (razor sharp shards of metal flashing left around perimeter, no magnet used to pick up nails, etc). When contacted after my first review the company did not offer to rectify the situation. Instead, they became defensive and claimed that "a repair can only look so good." Other roofers in town can make a repair look as good as new and that should be the standard to which work is done.

Happy Hippo! A silly but memorable name holds so much charm and attention to detail. I have hired…read moreJohn at Happy Hippo at least 3 times but only just now gotten to a review. What's really cool about this company is that he happens to hire people that don't drink and smoke so you don't have to worry about that type of stuff in or around your home. Also they have such great attention to detail. Last year I had him strip down and repaint and add gutters to my second home. It's like night and day. Before the water ran down the walls and went under the paint, it was a disaster. John and his crew fixed all that with new paint and window frames and gutters and it's still in pristine shape. This year we hired him again to both fix the roof on that other house, and remodel our downstairs to turn it from an old funky concrete room to a new laundry and dry storage goods facility. Both went beautifully and now my wife is very happy with her new storage room! Happy hippo provides a good price, but what they really provide is VALUE. A low price is worthless if the job isn't properly done, so having both a low price and value is what's so great. And John and his crew have integrity. That's also rare. I highly recommend Happy hippo.
