Pros: friendly and punctual crew Cons: sloppy work that damaged our stucco, flashing cut haphazardly, fasteners in questionable locations, heat tape placed in incorrect orientation and incorrect location, roof vents out of plumb, and poor cleaning of job site (razor sharp shards of metal flashing left around perimeter, no magnet used to pick up nails, etc). When contacted after my first review the company did not offer to rectify the situation. Instead, they became defensive and claimed that "a repair can only look so good." Other roofers in town can make a repair look as good as new and that should be the standard to which work is done.

What's really cool about this company is that he happens to hire people that don't drink and smoke so you don't have to worry about that type of stuff in or around your home. Also they have such great attention to detail. Last year I had him strip down and repaint and add gutters to my second home. It's like night and day. Before the water ran down the walls and went under the paint, it was a disaster. John and his crew fixed all that with new paint and window frames and gutters and it's still in pristine shape. This year we hired him again to both fix the roof on that other house, and remodel our downstairs to turn it from an old funky concrete room to a new laundry and dry storage goods facility. Both went beautifully and now my wife is very happy with her new storage room! Happy hippo provides a good price, but what they really provide is VALUE. A low price is worthless if the job isn't properly done, so having both a low price and value is what's so great. And John and his crew have integrity. That's also rare. The kitchen cabinet configuration provides an immense amount of storage as does the added pantry that utilized our space maximally while allowing space for a refrigerator and dinning area. The entire space is beautifully enhanced by the lightening, the flooring in the bathroom and dinning area and the padded carpet. Working with John to accomplish this project was such a pleasure as he took the time to consult with us before and throughout all of the decisions we had to make in order to have a custom outcome within our planned budget. John researched and provided resources which aided us in the making big and little decisions.
