This is the only surviving Jewish deli in the city of Buffalo, and it does more than simply fill a niche, it does so spectacularly. Chopped liver, corned beef, pastrami, matzoh ball soup, and much more, this is one of my favorite places on the planet. Enjoy!

Great food, nice person. Good Quality meat, great combination of sandwiches, wraps. The food is made with care.

    Mm! Delicious downtown lunch option.

A quaint Jewish deli that makes a great lunch. Prices are a little high, but you can get a nice soup and sandwich for around $6.50. Lunch for 3 of us was close to $30, which is a little steep but you can keep prices down by asking for tap water instead of getting bottled water (and not buying any cookies, like we did!). The environment is nice, it's inside a larger office building and it may be a little hard to find, but the seating is comfortable. You order at the register and they will bring out your food. I ordered the corn chowder soup and the liver sandwich, while my friends ordered a turkey wrap with mayo. Let me say, the liver sandwich was not what I expected but delightfully delicious. Rather than being cooked liver meat, it was a version of pâté with blended liver made particularly well since it didn't have any usual liver-odor to it, which may be displeasing to some. Served on rye bread with some red onions (and I asked for horseradish), it was delightfully tangy with a melt in your mouth texture. Yum! The soup was perfect, the corn chowder being absolutely perfect in every way (except for the tiny cup it was served in!) My dining companions thought the turkey sandwich was ordinary and after trying it I have to agree. If you come here, I recommend being a little adventurous and experimenting with things you don't usually try. Getting out of your comfort zone with food will lead to great things!

Egg salad sandwich...pilled high and oh so good!

As there was only 7 people waiting. But it turned out they were ordering food for their businesses or similar because most orders were for 4-more sandwiches. Which explained the wait. I was introduced to Charlie the Butcher many, many years ago. My goodness, it was back in the 90's…read morewhen I was in college and patroned their express location in the Ellicott Square Building downtown. Their roast beef sandwiches were the best. The roast beef is so tender, they give you a good portion on the roll and there's a nice flavor, leaves me salivating. It's been quite sometime since I had one, I finally had some time and stopped at this location. I regret to say I'm disappointed in myself because I was stopping for a roast beef and ended up making the mistake of being spontaneous and ordered the grilled BBQ prime rib sandwich. I'm sorry, I didn't like it. So, this sandwich costs $15.99 (comes with nothing extra), it was also on a roll, there was no BBQ sauce (I assumed there would be) but it was just dry, plain, devoid of much flavor, they topped it with provolone cheese, a couple pieces of peppers and some onions but it didn't hit the spot for me. The Costanzo roll was overbearing. I learned a valuable lesson today, "stick with what you love about the place!" So, I'll be back for that roast beef another day. The inside is reminiscent of the local 80's fast food joints of Buffalo, I would call it a little shack. You walk in, lean back, look up at the menu, order and walk around to pay and pick up your food. There is a small seating area, a few booths to sit a party of four. Pick up your food at the counter after they call your name. Nothing fancy, just a quick little spot to eat.

I've been wanting to try their Sicilian-style pizza for quite some time, and my birthday cookie…read morereward finally gave me the perfect excuse to celebrate. They already have a fantastic thin-crust pizza, so I asked if they could make the Sicilian style with the muffuletta toppings. No problem at all. It took a little longer than expected (ordered for 4:45, ready at 5:00), but it was absolutely worth the wait. Ordering is easy online or by phone. If you get voicemail, just call back - they're probably on the phone with another customer. Now, about that pizza. The thick Sicilian crust had the perfect chew: light and airy inside with a crisp, golden bottom. Every bite was loaded with the bold salty toppings, bringing a savory, slight spice/pickled kick that paired perfectly with the oils and melted cheese. The toppings reached edge to edge, creating a pizza that was hearty, flavorful, and impossible to put down. Please pencil in a visit to The Deli on a Wednesday to grab one of their pizzas. I do recommend ordering ahead to claim your dough. This version reads like a Yelp review and really highlights the texture and flavor of a loaded Sicilian pie.
