Rip Tides is disappointing. The food is WAY overpriced, especially for the quality. The service is slow, the kids working the counter were eating in the back and not paying attention to customers waiting to place orders. There are 2 bathrooms and showers adjacent to window where orders are placed, so while waiting for your food you can watch people from the beach shower and change their clothes. How appetizing. Although I was really rooting for this place, it just did not come through. Save your money. read more

I definitely would recommend this place. But there is always room for improvement. LOWER THE MUSIC ! Why do stores/restaurants think loud music is good? I can tell even some of the employees where a little irritated when customers are trying to give an order or answering to when your name was being called for your order I did not notice that breakfast was during certain hours It would be a little more convenient if there where hand held menus Food is really good. I had no problems here at all on Friday or Saturday. Then today--at 7:40 am Sunday--I got shortchanged by $13. Here is how it happened: I paid cash--a cash-only place, of course. I was given no receipt. And I made no complaint. And so my goose was cooked. More detail: I bought three egg-and cheese rolls, and paid with a $20 bill; she returned a couple of ones and some change. Then, after a wait, I got one sandwich. I asked the server where the other two sandwiches were, and he fetched a carbon of the receipt showing only one sandwich on the order. I complained, and the girl invented a story about how I had given her a $5 and a $20, and she had handed back the $20. Without a receipt or a credit-card record, there was nothing I could do. Just wanted to complement the owner. I run by this restaurant before 6 am most mornings, long before the first customer. At this time, everyday the owner and staff are cleaning the restaurant. I mean really cleaning it. I give the owner many kudos for the nicest restaurant on the Boardwalk. It is easy to see this owner cares about his location on the Boardwalk. Look at the others, none come close to looking nice on the Boardwalk. I feel this restaurant is an asset to Long Beach just in Boardwalk ambiance it presents. I wish the others would follow this lead. Nice job owner, you are keeping the Boardwalk nice. It shows this mans pride in his work. No lie, I see him every morning cleaning and making it nicer for the day. I live here on the Boardwalk and have no need for a boardwalk restaurant but just because of the above I will be going here today to try it out. Pretty standard beach-side food joint. The prices are high for the food you receive, but you're really paying for the convenience and proximity to the beach. I had the fish and chips and a large lemonade for a little under $20. The fish and chips had three pieces of fish and a ton of fries. I actually lost a piece of fish under all of the fries, but I'm not complaining. The lemonade was actually pretty good as well. Wife Gina runs the kitchen, husband Brian manages the other areas. Plenty of helpers that bring your food out and clean up. Prices are better than the local Diners. Came here before my daily walk on the boardwalk hoping to get a quick bite to eat and enjoy the setting with my bf. I got the easiest breakfast, a buttered bagel, and the bagel was hard as a rock & there was no butter on it besides on one half of the cut bagel. My bf ordered a BEC on an everything bagel, found a hair in it & was also stale looking. Really not worth the time to even come here as sad as it is because the scenery of it is very nice. Love Riptides 11561 right on the boardwalk in Long Beach, NY. The view is amazing!!! When summer ends this cute fun colorful cafe is somewhat enclosed in the fall & still offers the beautiful views. Love the fish tacos & then a cup of coffee to just watch the oceanfront. The boardwalk in Long Beach is awesome & this cafe is such a plus. My meal was over cooked and the place was very dirty. My biggest issue was with the manager who was extremely rude. I wasn't asking for a refund or new food I just mentioned to them my food was over cooked and the manager came over to speak with me. This is the BEST place to eat on the beach! I got an açaí bowl for breakfast then went back after for dinner. Spicy cauliflower and fried clam strips are amazing! Quick service and polite staff. We wanted to love this little beach front spot! It's very basic like fast food on the beach but my brother in laws tacos looked good so my sister and I wanted to try it out. We got the riptide chicken tacos they come two to an order so we could each have one. I was really excited because my BIL's bacon lettuce avocado taco looked great. Ours was a flop. The chicken was shredded so the consistency was like mush and it wasn't seasoned at all and super dry. The amount of raw onions was too much and the sauce too little. friendly staff and fast service but the food is mediocre at best. ordered the burger and there was barely any char on the outside so the texture of the meat was really unappealing. i'm also not a fan of tomatoes on burgers if they're completely unripe and more white than red in appearance. they're barely tomatoes at that point and add no flavor to the burger. they just end up watering everything down. read more

I love Riptides and so grateful that we have this place. However, yesterday (5/11/2019) we had the worst lobster rolls I could ever imagine. Not even the roll was good. What a great place for "grabbing a bite" or "chowing down." Love the food and fast service. It's a casual menu, so don't expect gourmet. First it was an elderly gentleman (wool hat , heavy sweater) and the first thing you failed to relay in your comment was that while the gentleman was throwing food into the bike lane, it caused a bicyclist to hit and kill a seagull, kind of important fact no. Secondly it was determined that the gentleman was out of his residence unattended and the security you speak of were the long beach special police, who were assisting the man back to his residence. We had a small party there (about 25 people). We sat in the sand pit in back with picnic tables. Food and appetizers were amazing!! We had soft shell crab, lobster roll, crab cakes, calamari, chicken sandwiches, burgers and chicken fingers. All so good!! So nice to have great food on the boardwalk on Long beach. I was at Rip Tide today and I have to say... What jerks ! There was a very old woman (maybe in her 90s) sitting by herself. She started feeding the birds which I know isn't the wisest thing to do in an open restaurant but instead of just going to the woman and asking her to stop. The grumpy jerks were very nasty to her. Complaining to everyone they spoke to and pointing. Even talking about her right in front of her face. they then called security on her. The jerk with the restaurants services shirt on still kept complaining to everyone, pointing to the poor old woman. Complaining and complaining and whining like a little girl. It's done, over, get over it, everyone else has. Finally, they kicked her out. I saw 2 men walk away with her, holding her arm, taking her to a car. At first I was thinking that its a small outdoor place any they needed the room but from the time I got there till way after, while I was sitting across the restaurant I noticed plenty of other people sitting there taking up valuable seating space Doing nothing but talking. It was then clear to me that the jerk wasnt worried about the seat she was occupying, it's that the little girl was still mad that he had to get someone to come clean up the burger she threw. The BUTT even threw away the rest of her food , THAT SHE PAID FOR !, maybe she was sharing, thinking if she was hungry, the birds must be hungry. Maybe she was going to eat the rest of her food. Maybe she's on a limited budget and you just threw away the only meal she had for the day you BUTT !! As far as the food. It wasnt anything to write home about. As you can see, it only has 2 1/2 stars on yelp. Hope you feel good about making a 90+ year old woman feel like shit and unwanted you HOLE ! And throwing what was left of her food she PAID for !
