The Sunday before we were to be there on Friday an Indian guy called me and said they would not honor our reservations. The person at the motel had made a mistake. Tried jacking up the rates. We canceled. After seeing the place glad we did. I have slept in barns that was cleaner. What a ripoff

Title: Avoid at All Costs - 14 Days of Filth and No Housekeeping…read more Staying at the Best Western New Albany, MS was an absolute nightmare. I'd rather camp in a parking lot than endure that again. No housekeeping for 14 days. Despite putting the service sign out daily, I was left to buy my own toilet paper, take out my own trash, and even vacuum my own room after cockroaches - because apparently, DIY housekeeping is part of the Best Western experience here. After escalating my concerns to the manager after 8 days of kindly requesting a clean towel and taking out my own trash, he graciously let me switch rooms (thankfully no rust stains this time) and gave me a $50 discount for that night, which didn't even cover the mattress cover I had to buy to hide the mystery stains on the mattress in the first room or the slippers required to keep my feet and socks from turning black on the carpet. Oh, and don't forget the brown, sediment-filled water that came out of the tap. I had to get bottled water just to brush my teeth. This isn't mentioning the broken fridge, construction noise, broken equipment in the gym and business center. Those are minor inconveniences. It adds to a wholistic nightmare. The cockroaches were a delightful bonus. If you're thinking of staying here, reconsider or bring your own toilet paper and vacuum. I could also save you the trouble and will happily lend you a tent.

The stay here was less than comfortable. For over $90/night, i would have though the beds,…read moreshowers, and service would have been a higher standard than what it was. The beds had really poor spring mattresses, and were extremely loud just to sit on. There was no way to get comfortable, and you always had a spring in your back or side regardless of the position you tried to lay in. The bathroom was extremely small. To be able to close the door, i had to wedge myself between the wall and the toilet. Even though there was supposed to be no smoking in the rooms, you can tell there had been. Additionally, other guests were smoking at 5am and it all came pouring in the room filling the room with cigarette smell which of course woke me up. Additionally, it is the weekend when there are more people at the hotel. However, the owners decided to use this time to blacktop the half of the building where I was staying. I had no notice on it, and when I returned this evening access my side of the building was blocked off. This is not something done on a whim so they knew this when i checked in. I explained to the guy on shift (who also checked me in the night before) that my mom just had knee surgery and couldn't walk far. I asked him what he expected me to do, and he just shrugged his shoulders. I can get better service and a cheaper price from a hotel about 30min away. I believe I will start driving to New Albany when I come into town. It will be farther, but I at least know the chain and their standards.

If there were a way to give this place a lower rating I would. I happened to be there for a funeral…read moreand had to book two rooms for two nights. I should have stayed in a tent. Non smoking rooms requested. One of the rooms sheets had burn holes in them. The room was not clean! One of the rooms had a loose toilet that leaked at the base where it attached to the floor. You can imagine that issue alone was bad enough but we were not there on a vacation. We were stressed and just wanted to get through it. You could not take a bath there was no way to shut the drain. The door handle on the inside of one room fell off and we had to be let out of the room. What little time we were even in the room was not worth the aggravation. Tried to explain all the issues at checkout and front desk accused us of damaging the door. Then when that was straightened out I was told the manager was on a vacation cruise. He would be back in a week. I emailed, no response. I called several times, no response. When I finally got Mitch Desai on the phone he was rude and complained that I had posted bad review and he would not work with me. I asked for the name and number to the owners and no response other than him hanging up on me three times. I will include pictures and video of toilet if it will load. Choice hotels does not care about a franchise that treats people with no respect. Give them your money and get little or nothing of value. No recourse available. Beware, beware, beware of this substandard property and if you find yourself with no place else do so at your own risk! You have been warned! Somehow business owners have made their money and can continue treating customers like this is beyond me. I cannot imagine what kind of person owns this property that thinks this is acceptable. You get what you pay for? I do not agree here. I will update if I get response from choice hotels

I predominately stay at Hampton and they vary quite a lot around the country. And yes, there are such a range, but most all fit a Hilton standard that I found comfortable with traveling as much as I do. The staff was very sharp, Carol is the one who checked me in, was very detailed on locations of breakfast coffee bar, etc. as their layout was limited yet the new design made this older building stand out very well. Elevator is right there next to the entry and new carpet everywhere paint and bright art on the walls made this a 2023 hotel that is certainly probably seen many years of use in a unique location very much in need of a hotel like this. The bedroom was clean and fresh, bathroom was impeccable, the beds are my reason for staying at the Hampton Inn, and were extremely comfortable, air conditioning, worked well, and Internet was standard. Everything I'm looking for. This is a very off the road location for me on business but glad I found it and highly recommend it not only to business travelers that service, local industries, but visitors to the lake looking for a nice hotel. Highly recommend.!!!

They had a king size bed on the first floor so it sounded good. Beautiful area with a nearby lake staying on land that was part of history. Once we made it to the room, the key card didn't work. So I went back and the friendly clerk made another. This one worked. We rolled the luggage cart into the room and oops, I see luggage on the 2 double beds and someone was in the bathroom! I backed us quickly out of the room and back to the desk we went. (Glad it wasn't someone brandishing a firearm and declaring us as violating his space!) The correct room was 106 and not 108. Easy mistake, but might not have ended well. This hotel, 27 years old, is exceptionally well maintained. No fridge or microwave in rooms and not much of a TV, but we were just there for the night. The bed was amazing. The A/C was a little anemic, but it did get the room cool. The breakfast was absolutely amazing! Great cheese omelets! It is somewhat off the path, but close to a few restaurants/grills.

My mother used the shower, which really was only a drain in the bathroom floor. It did not drain which caused standing water that we had to cover with the towels so the bathroom could be used. The desk chair in the room had stains. There were no other accessible rooms available and we had no other option but to stay. At checkout, I reported this. The only response was sorry.
