There were plenty of vendors, tons of great food trucks, the stages were thoughtfully placed & the clever artist rotation assured that there was music playing at all times. Tempe Beach Park hosts several music festival including Innings Festival, Extra Innings Festival, and Reggae Fest. For a special event, parking isn't easy. You can find free parking but you'll have to walk 10 minutes or so. Which is what I typically do. Now, let's get to the good stuff. Tempe Beach Park is a spacious park. It's not a true "beach" as Arizona is a landlocked state, but it is a nice place for a walk by the water. Especially at night when the bridge lights up. There are also several statues and works of art spread out throughout the park. It's a well maintained park, too. If you're looking to get a little exercise in with nice surroundings, this is a solid choice. Some people even kayak or paddle board on the river if you're looking for something a little more adventurous.

I have rented Kayaks from Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch several times over the past few years and have…read morealways had great service and a wonderful experience. Reserving a spot and kayak is easy on the online website. Once you navigate down to the main road to the Guest Ranch, it can be a little confusing as they always have a roadblock as you progress towards the parking lot. Just proceed past the sign to the parking lot ahead. After parking, walk back towards the ranch and check in. Guest services will provide a wrist band as well as a parking pass to place on your dashboard. Once your reservation time is ready, you will be provided a quick orientation of the equipment, navigation of the river and where the staff will pick you up at the end of your float. The staff is always super helpful. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a carabiner to hook on your dry bag or backpack to the kayak. Even though the majority of the river is an easy float, there are some small rapids. You may accidentally flip the kayak if you get caught in a tough spot on the River. This will prevent you from losing your bag! I'm experienced and have flipped once or twice. Depending on the time of year and water flow, the float can take 2 or 3 hours. Beautiful views of the landscape, wildlife including various birds and the gorgeous wild horses! At the end of the float, the staff will load your kayaks and take you back to the Guest Ranch. In the main building, be sure to stop by the gift shop prior or after the float for souvenirs or in case you forgot supplies you may need. They have several items including sunscreen, water shoes, hats, shirts snd much more. I found prices to be reasonable. This is the perfect place to bring out of town visitors. They will love it.

It has a lot of desert plants but I was surprised not to see more spring flowers this time of year. The park is nice and the water seemed clean and not smelly, but I wish we had more areas of denser vegetation like the hummingbird area to walk around in. It does seem pretty well kept up and I noticed several newer desert willows growing. At 8 am on a spring Sunday, it was busy with people walking, fishing, at the playground, and doing tai Chi, but parking wasn't an issue.

It was 95 degrees so I knew a challenging hike would be out of the question. Something like Hole-in-the-Rock though, easy peasy. While there were a decent number of people there, I had no trouble finding free parking. This natural wonder is located in Papago Park close to the Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical Garden. After you park, you'll have a five-minute walk to get to Hole-in-the-Rock. You'll have to climb an incline to get in the hole, so definitely be careful, but there are kids that do it too. And a lot of tourists that show up. So that pretty much sums it up. Once you get inside, you'll have an awesome view of the Phoenix through a literal hole in a big rock. You'll see a lot of people using it as a photo opp. That's not really my style, so instead, I took a seat and enjoyed the beauty for 10 minutes or so. It can get pretty crowded so keep that in mind if you stop by on a weekend. Hole-in-the-Rock is one of the top attractions on TripAdvisor in Phoenix. Definitely a cool (and short) adventure to cross of the bucket list. I spent 30 minutes there (which included hanging out in the rock for half the time).

The staff greeted us with a smile, got us checked in quickly, explained everything we needed to know, and had us rolling in just a few minutes. Once we hit the path, we spent the next hour cruising along the lake, taking in the gorgeous waterfront views, people-watching, and laughing our way around every turn. There's something so nostalgic and carefree about riding a Surrey bike--it instantly makes you feel like a kid again. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing, light exercise, and quality time with a friend. If you're looking for a unique date idea, a family outing, or just a fun excuse to get outside with your bestie, I can't recommend this enough. It's one of those simple experiences that ends up creating some of the best memories. Pro tip: Arizona's sunshine definitely doesn't play around!
