I was SO excited to try this place after reading the reviews. I'm sadly not as impressed as everyone else is. I will say, they knocked the gnocchi out of the park. That is literally some of the best gnocchi I have ever had, including when I was in Italy. The downfall of this place for me, is the fact that both proteins were VERY overcooked. My husband got the Scallopini al Marsala... The flavor of the sauce was amazing, and the gnocchi were what dreams are made of... but the beef was so tough and dry, that it honestly ruined the entire dish. I got the Fettuccine Pollo Marsala. The chicken was overcooked, the flavor was decent, but the pasta was raw in parts (like where the fettuccine got stuck together). I was really unimpressed with this dish, but starving after a long foodless day at the pool, so I ate it. It was also served with two strange looking blue sticks of what I think was dried and dyed pasta... but it dyed the pasta blue where it touched, which was pretty unappealing to me. The bread, was interesting, but dry and not something we ate a lot of. The prosciutto caprese with sundried tomatoes was delicious though. The mozzarella was super fresh and the balsamic reduction was delectable... it didn't have the acidic bite that many do. The free shot of limoncello was a nice surprise, but the limoncello was pretty terrible. My husband, who loves my homemade limoncello almost spit it out. Service was impeccable. Friendly, on point, and we wanted for absolutely nothing. Atmosphere was non assuming and casual, while still VERY Italian. Overall, this place wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. I wish I could give half stars, because this experience was really a 3.5 star visit.

We can traveled to Cancun for many years. We used Yelp for the for the first time we used Yelp on this trip to try and find some new eating places other than our usuals. We are so very glad that we did. This place is absolutely amazing from top to bottom, inside and out! Most likely the best Italian Food we have ever eaten, and we live in Houston which has some amazing choices. My wife has the Lasagna and I had their Ossobuco on a bed of Parmesan Risotto. Their cocktails were tasty and of high quality. If you are ever in Cancun this is a great place worth the cab fair to get to!

    Great pizza!!

This is just a jewel outside the hotel zone and were are all those tourists traps with bad food, horrible service and very expensive. I read about this place on yelp and I had to come, great service very authentic Italian food, good wine and you really can't beat the price...

Excellent Italian food! Good place to go if you're looking for something other than Mexican or seafood. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great seating (terrace, inside seating or second floor patio). I ordered pollo al carciofi which was excellent. My lovely wife ordered fettuccine pollo e funghi al marsala which my wife said was also excellent. We also ordered a pizza pomodoro fresco and we added pepperoni. The pizzas are cooked in a brick oven and are thin crust. For dessert we had a warm apple pie with vanilla on top. The micheladas were second to none (ojo rojo). Everything we ate was delicious, I recommend this place 100% for anyone visiting Cancun.

The food was delicious from start to finish, and the service was truly impeccable. The staff was warm, attentive, and made our entire family feel so welcomed. Our kids ordered the ragù and absolutely loved it, which says a lot with little kids! Cenacolo moved recently to La Isla mall across from where we were staying. With its all glass walls, the space was elegant and inviting. The kitchen was all glass so you can see the chefs preparing the food. We didn't have reservations, but the hostess found us a great table. Our main server was Alejandro and he was more than helpful in making sure we ordered what we wanted. With Italian food, I also prefer very good Italian wine versus a cocktail. He pointed me to 2 red wines that were bold and heavy as I requested. Both were just OK, but expensive. Wines by the bottle was ridiculously high. Regardless, he was great in steering me to the type of dishes more suited to what I was asking for and not just the most expensive. This restaurant has been highly recommended by my brother and sister in law for years. They had told us it was one of the best Italian food they have had anywhere. But, In its previous location, it just looked a bit stuffy for a CANCÚN vacation meal. At its new location, though it was still upscale, it seemed more approachable to us somehow. We just came back from a 10 day vacation at the Amalfi coast, and Rome, Italy. We found the pastas at Cenacolo to be comparable if not better. We had bruschetta, Ragu spaghetti, lasagna, and their chocolate soufflé. We had read that the soufflé was outstanding so we ordered 2. We were NOT disappointed with any of the food items.

We (2 persons) were sat at the same time as a four top and it took us twice as long to get our drinks and food. The calamari had a fishy taste. The pasta took almost 45 minutes and did not taste like it was freshly made. While the servers were kind, the service was incredibly slow for an empty restaurant. The atmosphere was chill and enjoyed the views in a rainstorm.

All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak.
