I use to come to this place 3 years back, I stopped going because I found a better threading salon.My threading place is closed due to COVID, I called this place yesterday to see if they are taking any appointments.This lady called Fami picked up the phone, I told her if Rina is available for appointments. She asked for my name, when I told her my name she immediately told me that they will not provide service to me because " I give the girls a hard time" I was flabbergasted! I told her I have not been to this place in 3 years and I only did my eyebrows with the owner Rina.Then she proceeded to say that she was Rina ( lady I know how Rina sounds).Then she apologized for mistaking me for someone else and said it was a misunderstanding and told me to come on Thursday! There is no way in hell I will be going to this place after how the lady treated me on the phone! I dont even know if they actually misunderstood me for someone else or they were talking about me.I remember I did my eyebrows with the owner and I was always specific to how I wanted by brows to be.You cant just shape by eyebrows however you want, if the owner Rina thought I or some other girl gave her a hard time with the brows just because I had a specific request than it truly shows their ability to shape eyebrows! Fami is the best! I've been going to her for years now. I had a terrible incident where another threader made my eyebrows completely uneven, however Fami was able to save my brows! She makes the brows symmetrical and likes to keep the brows as full as possible. Usually other places I've been to will do a high arch and thin out the brows. Ugh so bad! Located along cabrillo, Rina's is the corner shop. Parking can be a nightmare since you park along cabrillo or in the residential areas. I've been coming here since this place has opened! The shop itself is very small with two chairs used for threading and a back section for waxing. I was there a couple of days ago and the girl who has taken over for the most part said that Rina has been sick for over 30 days. I haven't seen Rina in a while. Hopefully she is OK! Compared to other threading places, Rina has the lightest touch that I've noticed! When she did my eyebrows, it did not sting! She does it quickly and does a great job. She takes her time and is very polite. The other lady that is mostly there also does a fantastic job. She seems younger, but she does quality work! I came here to just get my upper lip done. I normally get it waxed but I was recommended to come here from a friend. The treading was not as painful as I imagine it would be. This place was a cute little shop with with a pair of comfortable seats. There is a small waiting area inside, however, once you walk in, you are immediately greeted. Rina's Threading Studio is located a few houses down from where I just moved to so I thought I would give it a shot, especially since the place I used to go is more of a drive for me now. To be totally honest I didn't go in with high expectations because I've never actually been 100% happy with the way my eyebrows look when I get them done. I've gone to high-end places, small places, and usually leave feeling like the service was just okay. Most of the time it hurts too. I didn't experience any of those feelings with Rina! I kid you not, the way she threaded my eyebrows was completely painless!! Better than that, all I asked her to do was clean them up but the end result was much better than any other service I've gotten for them. Aesthetics aside, Rina was also very personable and friendly! No way else explain her but awesome. She's super nice, and unlike a lot of other eyebrow threading places, she takes her time with you to make sure its right. I've been to places that charge around the same amount as her and just rush to get them done, but with Rina she definitely doesn't do that. So this place really went to the dumps after my first visit which was awesome. I tried the place 2 more times both times the owner was not there and the the staff she has in place are not the most professional. The second time I was there 2 things got me really frazzled 1) the technicians child was there crying the whole time and she was the only one there. She had to go between customers and comforting her child. Just took way too long and was nerve wrecking for me. 2) When I approached to pay she mentioned that I couldn't use the card even though they had a tablet for this purpose. so I had to go get cash and come back. Which was quite annoying The last time and there was a person stretched out laying down on 3 chairs and told me that the owner was gone and to come back in 10 mins even though the sign said open. She picked up the phone right away, she scheduled me in, and did an amazing job with my eyebrows. It was my first time here and she was the most lovely human being. I have absolutely nothing to say that's even remotely negative. The shop was clean, she was lovely, and the service was incredible. I completely support her. it's worth it and it's super cheap compared to other threading places. I've gone to Vogue and other studios and they were all really mean and incredibly hostile. I've been going to Rina's for about a year after my daughter told me about the place and my former threading location closed. My daughter and her friends have been going for years. When I first went, my first impression was that the place seemed dark and dingy. And the staff was curt, but not unfriendly. I took it as a cultural issue. Not everyone is bubbly Californians. When I went back yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised that they had rearranged and perked the place up. They could certainly make it even more welcoming and comfortable (changing the window treatment would go a long way to improving the place), but I would no longer say it looked dark and dingy. What has sold me on the place is the value. They do a great job at shaping my eyebrows. I know from the variety of eyebrow shapes that my daughter and her friends have that they are good at whatever shape you want and take direction well. And they only charge $6. So even with a generous tip, you're out of there for under $10 and less than the "price" any place else I've been. And like most threading, it only takes a few minutes. And there is usually no wait. Once, I did have to wait about 10-15 minutes because there were two people already "in the chair" and a third waiting (and of course that was the one time I was in a hurry!) But normally, you get helped when you arrive. The service yesterday was more friendly than I've seen in the past. Perhaps they're reading their yelp reviews. :) Personally, if someone does a good job and isn't "mean", I'm fine with "down to business" interactions. Someone said parking is a nightmare, but actually with parking on both sides of the street and in the middle of the street and the curb (so a total of four lanes of parking!), I find there's never a lack of parking. Grant it, parking in the middle of the street is unusual, but parking is parking and it's not unsafe. read more

I had false eyelashes put on and a number of things went wrong. This place did not have all the required supplies such a product for sensitive skin. Unfortunately she failed to mention anything prior to starting the procedure. My eyes were burning, my skin went raw and I told her to stop rubbing my eyelids bc it hurt. When finished applying the lashes, I looked like Minnie Mouse with a surprised expression. Not glamorous at all! She didn't style them whatsoever. I went home and sculpted the lashes to actually look real, however the application and glue was put on so sloppy that the lashes only lasted 24hrs until I had to remove them bc they caused so much scratching and pain to my eyelids. Today I have cream on my eyelids to aid with the raw, burning feeling I'm experiencing. Needless to say I won't be returning to this hole in the wall. If you don't have the proper supplies, tell your clients no, that you won't do it instead of being money hungry and hurting someone for your profit gain. I used to have very thing eyebrows and I came to her explaining that I wanted thicker eyebrows but that I hated the stage where they look like you have done them. This place is relatively close by to my job, so I decided to stop by after work, since I was in a hurry and my eyebrows needed to be done, I walked in, she was busy she had two other people waiting besides me, so I decided to wait, needless to say she is very fast with her customers when it was my turn she did her thing, She was really fast when she threaded my eyebrows, I paid with my debit card, she charges you a fee when you use your card, so I recommend you take cash instead, besides that back to the eyebrow threading, Once I left I started to get all red and like usually when I get my eyebrows i had a stinging sensation , but then when I noticed she cut my skin, wtf, no wonder she was fast besides that their was still hair that wasn't removed, I had to pluck those out as well.I'm sorry but wont be coming back read more
