I really can't think of anything negative to say about these guys, other than I was charged more…read morefor the same service than I would have been initially elsewhere. My low pro tire was flat, and I was driving around on the donut for 2 days as little as possible. I went to shop #1 through which I ordered my tire (I got all 4 installed by them originally over a year ago), and they looked at it, scratched their heads, called supervisors, and scratched their heads some more. Finally, a manager came out and explained to me that they no longer mount low profile tires (a liability issue, since they've scratched a few rims). Wow. I told them seeing as I had driven all the way out there, and waited for a half hour (for a scheduled appointment, mind you) just to be told "no", that the least they could do is point me in the right direction. So they called 3 other shops. First one apparently also no longer offered this service, for the same reason. Second one said they only had 1 tire guy for the entire day, so I'd have to wait (drive around an extra day on my freaking pizza cutter). 3rd one they called had the equipment for it, but they said they had to "LOOK at it first" before giving me a definitive answer. Ok, so I got over to this 3rd shop, had one of their guys look at it, and he said "yeah, I guess I COULD do it for you, since we've got the new machine for it, but there's a good chance we'd scratch the rim" (they were all brand new and nearly flawless). "Sooooooo if you wanna risk it, then....." (VER BATIM) I swear- I was about ready to start tearing my own hair out, is there not a single full service tire shop anywhere in the south that's even remotely competent? I've never had a problem with any other shops when requested the same service, but that's back when I still lived in OR (work with me here, fellas, it's ONE tire). I started walking away kind of discouraged, trying to calculate how many more miles my donut would safely hold out before I managed to find someone to mount the tire, which I was hauling with me (along with the flat one in the trunk). I do have to thank even them though, because he stopped me as I was leaving and suggested this place-Nix Tire. (Ironically the closest tire shop to where I live). I had my hopes down after talking to 4 (yes, four) tire shops, all of which had turned me away (mostly just because I have low pro tires). I came out there as my last resort for the day, before I could officially declare myself psychotic. The place was hopping, cars lined up, people waiting inside and outside, and a small team of guys doing all the work. The gentleman running the team came out immediately, took both tires, one in each arm like the freaking Hulk, and said they'd be "right on it." Man of few words, I can respect that. Yeaaaaaaah, right, you say? Right on it? That's what I was thinking; That it would be similar to visiting the DMV, where someone can spend an entire eternity waiting.... Until about 15 minutes later, when they rolled out with it and I was ready for check out. Seriously? I gotta hand it to them, I had grossly underestimated their efficiency, mostly because of the experiences and conversations I had been having for the last 2 hours with other shops. Nix blew all my expectations out of the water, and got clients taken care of so quick, I was left overwhelmed with gratitude and shock at how quickly these guys worked. They charged me $32 including taxes, compared to $20 (what the initial shop would have charged) but if I had known they were this good, I would have happily spent the extra $12 in this place to begin with. Not a single scratch on the rim. Not so much as a warning that it was even a possibility in the first place. They KNOW they're good, and now, thanks to a hell of a day running around elsewhere, I do too. Found my new go-to tire shop, and I can breathe a little easier now. Thanks, you guys!

I also had just received a coupon in the mail from them, so it seemed as if I'd finally get it done. Their website reflected a closing time of six o'clock PM, as did the hours of operation posted on the door. I arrived at 5:30, and while I wasn't certain they'd be able to fit me in, it was worth a shot. I parked in front of the bay marked "oil changes," but no one ever came out to my car, even though there were at least three employees working inside. As it's my first time at Meineke, I thought maybe it doesn't work like that and I should go inside to receive service. Although I'm sure the guys at work saw me walk to the office, the office was eerily empty and even after mulling around for apx 10/15 minutes, I had yet to be acknowledged or helped. (As an aside, the phone rang twice while I was inside and it appears they don't deign to answer calls either.) Finally, I opened the door marked "Employees Only" (in the shop area), and stuck my head in. As luck would have it, I made eye contact with an employee who was passing by. He didn't seem thrilled to see me and didn't say anything, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt - Maybe he was startled. So, I spoke first and asked if anyone was working in the front office so that I might get some work done on my car. Imagine my surprise when he replied, "Oh; we're closed." "But it says here that you don't close until six," I retorted. "Yeah, well we closed up a bit early today," the grease monkey opined as he sauntered off to wherever. At this point, I decided it probably wouldn't be wise to let this crowd touch my car with a 10' pole, and I made my exit. On the way out I did notice that the open sign was still on. Easy mistake, I guess.
