My third visit here and consistently excellent each time…read more The restaurant is fairly small with a few seats in the front and an upstairs and downstairs seating area. Open kitchen and large grill in the front with some of the meats and vegetable dishes on display - all looking mouth wateringly good. It's also clean, bright and well organised and everyone is busy and active. Needoo serves Punjabi cuisine (Pakastani & Indian). Dishes sampled last night included: - Mixed veg Allo gobi with meltingly soft aubergine, pepper, cauliflower, potato with a delicate slightly smoky flavour. - Meat biryani: slow cooked, fragrant, tender. - Baby chicken masala: perfect spicing and flavours with tender tasty chicken. - Lahori chana (chick peas) which were also meltingly soft and delicious with smoky galicky and spice flavours. Even the zeera rice (with cumin seeds) was full of flavour. - Complimentary salad for the table and papodoms at the start. On previous visits I have also tried the lamb chops which arrive on a sizzling iron platter emitting spicy chilli smoke that was pretty potent. The lamb chops were probably just as good as the legendary Tayyabs, just around the corner. Actually, I think the food in general at Needoo was a touch better than Tayyabs (have only been to Tayyabs once but felt a bit like being on a conveyor belt). Only possible downside I can think of is that some of the dishes can be a bit oily but not sure this is a real downside since it probably wouldn't be the same otherwise. This isn't a diet destination. A TV showing Bollywood MTV and proper air conditioning add to the unpretentious ambience. It can get busy at peak times but if you go early there's no wait. Great, efficient service too. It's BYOB which is good (just remember beforehand since there aren't too many places to buy beer in the immediate vicinity). So 5 stars for all round excellent food, service and great value.

Most importantly the food is not greasy and full of oil, plus they know what they're doing with their spicing and get everything spot on. Atmosphere was average with no special theme or decor evident. Wait staff was very helpful and friendly. I opted to get the Lamb Vindaloo (hot) and Special Fried Rice while my colleague opted to get the Chicken Biryani which came with Vegetable Curry, as well as a side order or Naan bread. I am accustomed to eating pretty hot food and the Vindaloo was appropriately hot (as advertised) and delicious. My colleague said that the Biryani and the Veg Curry were also delicious, and we both agreed the Naan was delicious. Well recommended for a delicious meal that is not too expensive.

The menu is extensive and the food is excellent. They cater for all your curry needs whether it's a mild korma or a 'blow the roof off your mouth off' phal. The prices are incredibly reasonable; in fact they have remained the same for the last five years. One of the many joys of eating here is the almost limitless supply of coffee at the end of the meal. You pay for the first cup and the rest is free. There's also a complementary glass of brandy and a plate full of chocolate mints. I would recommend it to anyone.

She has celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and out of town visitors at New Dewaniam while frequently ordering here for comfort food over the past year. I finally got to go here when visiting my daughter and really love the food and service and general ambiance. The place is deceptively larger than it seems from the high road entrance. Only later when we exited did I see the larger side entrance on Wyndham Rd. Ahmed is our favorite server. This guy hustles and is super accommodating. He is nice, funny and knowledgeable. Give him a raise please. With the 5 of us at this dinner we ordered a bevy of items including vegetable samosas, Bombay Aloo, Chicken Jalfrizi, among many others. I tasted most of them and they were delicious. Along with a few drinks, this made quite an enjoyable evening. I highly recommend trying New Dewaniam.

So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes. Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. But I'm going to go overboard just this once: BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT. EVER. I've eaten in Indian restaurants at home in Chicago, in L.A., New York, St.Louis, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc., etc. etc. Many have been good, but none approached this. We ate every scrap of all the food we ordered, and only because we had a tight timeline and a busy itinerary for our brief visit to London did we not go back for at least a second meal.

The food was bland, and luke warm and very expensive. I ate in a long room, which was rather uncharacterful except for the red lights beaming to the ceiling, their was little else to set to scene. From first looking at the menu, I though it looked like a good value for money, however when you read into it you realise you can easily spend £20-30 a head as you have to pay for each tiny dish separetly which are about £6 each. I don't often write bad reviews, but I wont be coming here again.
