Some time back I had a Steak dinner here and was not at all satisfied with the meal. If I was…read moreYelping then I would have given it 1 Star. It was very overpriced for its low quality. Swore I would not return after that experience. Tonight I found myself returning because a friend mentioned "Meat Loaf" was on the menu, and tonight's special for $5, and off I went with her in tow. The menu has changed since my last visit, which was well over a year or two ago. The prices seemed to have changed too, being quite high the last time. We were greeted at the front podium fairly quick and offered smoking or non-smoking options. Non-smoking for us! Which in the long run did not do any real good. About all that section offers is no direct smoke blowing in your face. Still reeks of that nasty smell and after sitting there a bit it activated my allergies stuffing up my nose. :-( The place looks clean. Plenty of music memorabilia lines the walls to liven up the atmosphere. The wait staff were very friendly and checked on us often. I ordered the Meat Loaf, with extra meat of course. ;-) Accompanied by sides of a Vegetable Medley, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and an extra of Baked Beans. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Meat Loaf tasted. Stacked on top of the Potatoes and smothered with a brown gravy. The meat had a really sweet glaze that gave it a nice kick. My only complaint was the vegetables were refrigerator cold. Not sure if they are meant to be that way but, I rolled with it and ate them this time without question. Will ask about when ordering the next time. Our waitress, Lori, came by to check on us often and when she wasn't all the others popped by to check. Very friendly staff. I find after this experience I will be coming back to dine again. Although I'll pop some extra allergy meds before heading out. ;-) There is an entrance, not marked, just to the left of the hotel entrance that will get you quicker access to the restaurant if you really don't want to pass through the smoke filled casino. The casino really needs to place a large Countryville lighted sign above this entrance for those visitors that just wish to visit the restaurant.

For example, every Friday night, from 5pm to 10pm they offer a large steak for just $10. It is located inside Comanche Red River Casino, so go ahead and order the pricey items. You are going to win all your money back in the casino. I have dined here on several occasions and I have never had a bad meal or experience. The people are really great. On Saturday nights, the place is very popular due to the live band.

My husband got the…read morenachos, but without meat, so he basically got a pile of tortilla chips and lettuce with a couple tomatoes and jalapeños sprinkled around. He had asked for extra jalapeños and cheese, and if the light dusting is "extra", I'm assuming they usually come with next to nothing. For some reason we also thought it would be a queso cheese (maybe just overlooked the description on that), but found out they CAN for an extra charge. He said he's willing to give em another shot if we go again as long as he can get queso instead of shredded cheese. Unsatisfied by the nachos, my vegetarian husband decided it would be a meat cheat day and got the onion smash burger. He said it was way better than the nachos, but too salty. Both girls got the kids popcorn chicken basket and tater tots. Nothing homemade, just some deep fried freezer food. I got the 6 piece traditional wings with a sweet and spicy sauce. It was sweet, but very little spice. The chicken itself was okay, better than the my last couple of wing endeavors at other restaurants. Maybe a different sauce would make them better. They came with a couple of bites of super stringy celery, but at least it was fresh and not floppy. Sooo. That's all the bad/ugly. The "good" of the visit was the vibe. I think the last time I came to red dirt was when I was a couple of kids lighter and came with the late night crowd to indulge in a more liquid type of indulgence. I remember it being loud, crowded, with minimal chill. So I was a little skeptical that this is where my husband wanted to eat with a two and five year old. But. We got there right at opening and were the first ones there. Which is PERFECT. Even when the first few bar patrons trickled in, no one was bothered by my girls casually wondering around our table instead of sitting still. The music was also on point, and the service, although a little slow, was super friendly. Lorenzo says he wants to come back again, not so much for the food, but for the low key dinner vibes.

And apparently so is the management! Ordered a shirley temple the other night only to receive a dirty shirley. When corrected, the "manager" said we should have ordered a virgin shirley temple and that we still had to pay for the drink since it was our fault. Also closing your business early because not enough of your patrons are drinking but they're still hanging out and playing pool is such a strange thing to do!

This is a good place for entertainment at University of Oklahoma - good people, good times and great experiences. I was a bit early and got introduced to these owners and it was the begining of the wonderful experience. - I had the delicious house Pineapple punch with rum which was excellent and just one glass put a "buzz in my turban" - I got to see the menu and noticed a yummy array of food but did not eat as I had already eaten my dinner! Will be there tomorrow to eat! - The ambience of the place reflects on the warmth and friendly nature of the ownership! The bar was well stocked and well kept, the premises were very clean and there was a sense of pride in what was being done. The outside patio was very charming! - The service was impeccable and as I mentioned in the earlier paragraphs there could not be a friendlier place! Thank you Addi, Lane, Eli, Sarah, Ethan and Julius for looking after me so well. You people are going to go places. To summarize, I had an excellent experience on the above these three categories and I will be going to the dance party on the 3rd!! I strongly recommend this venue for anybody's entertainment needs and a place to get together with friends! As far as entertainment- there was an out of state "modern country western band," Tommy Goodroad and his band, and it was their first gig in Oklahoma. It was excellent stuff played by a very talented band with the artists playing a whole spectrum of originals and cover music. Hope to see you all at the Opolis sometime soon. Have a great weekend!! One said "I know there are more stales in here open the fucking door" if you've been to the deli you would know there is only one toliet in the girls restroom. A grown male walked in to the restroom totally unprofessional and weird... The owner told us to get out obviously to de-escalate the situation this led to him telling us to get the fuck out as the bar was starting to close. We were just trying to tell him what happened as it was very uncomfortable, he then told us to use the mens restroom and it will be fine . If i were you i would avoid using the bathroom...because everyone felt like it was okay to watch you half naked/ felt in-tilted to kick the door open.

While the list of things wrong with this bar is longer than the lines at the restroom, mostly caused by the breaks taken by the staff to visit the facilities every fifteen minutes, I'll try to keep the problems to the most egregious. First, the bartenders couldn't be bothered to take an order. If you were lucky enough to make eye contact with one of them between their continuous arguments with each other, you were met with an uncanny ability to either forget your order within seconds or walk back to your table only to find the order was wrong. The line in the bar was quite long, not because the bar was packed with patrons, but rather because you would have to place your order multiple times, or return because it was an errant attempt at your order. The line was so long in fact, that multiple fights broke out while in line either between staff and customers or amongst the patrons themselves. Overall I believe the reason this place even stays open is it's near OU campus and doesn't have to work too hard to take advantage of the occasional new student, over served future middle management cog, or some out of town parents trying a local place. Do better.

I was here recently and low and behold, I found this gem. The Side Bar is a true diamond in the rough of what is Lawton, Oklahoma. The owner(s) is definitely not a local and why he would live here is beyond me. BUT the ambiance, decor, and cosmopolitan look is very well done and stands up with any great bar in Deep Ellum or Lower Greenville. It's only when the clientele open their mouths do you realize, "yup, I'm still in Lawton, Oklahoma." The bartenders are not just cute but actually were attentive (more so than many places in Dallas) and, considering it is Lawton, Oklahoma, know what a Manhattan is as well as an Old Fashioned. Unfortunately they served without rye but I don't hold it against them (looking at you management/owner) because I was immediately told about it. I'm looking forward to asking for a sazerac or a cosmopolitan on my next visit so hopefully they have the goods. The only issue I had with the staff (IF he is on the payroll) was some idiot who treated the music as his own personal playlist; diverse clientele be damned. Even the bartenders were annoyed at him but he straightened up once the owner was on site. Also, there is a lot of smoke/vaping but I give that a pass since, well, it is Lawton, Oklahoma. PROS: Atmosphere; diverse crowd; attentive bartenders who knew how to make a drink without googling it; owner seems cool CONS: CASH ONLY (but there is an ATM just outside); may be out of liquor for classic cocktails; smoking/vaping; idiot wannabe DJ In closing: I would have given a 5 star if the liquor was stocked (in spite of the idiot dj). BUT I will be back again and have already recommended to the locals I know there
