I've been using riley mazda for my service since their old location on the corner of Crandall st & E. Main. That being said I've owned 4 different models in that time frame, & they've serviced them all, including my current vehicle, a 2014 cx5. That I bought from them in 2016-ish, off lease. Throughout the years they've been generally awesome to deal with. Never any real issues, always maintained every vehicle with the utmost professionalism. There was a short time they had a crappy/dishonest service manager, but he left & went to Mercedes. Either way, that was a long time ago, life goes on. No everyone is perfect, not every visit is going to be the best day ever. Everyone has a bad day, sometimes things just don't work out. Here we are 2026, I've had my 1st gen cx5 for 10 years, & I've put on 100k+ miles. They changed my oil more times then I can count, they've done brakes, installed lowering springs on it, & a couple other aftermarket items. Plus whatever major services they've recommended. There labor prices are comparable to most other dealership & major shops in the area. These are the times we live in. Curtis, Seth, & the rest of the staff have been good to me through the years. I know most people only leave reviews when things don't work in their favor, but honestly you can't tell me every day you wake up is your best day. Life has ups & downs. Driving a two-year-old car with an unreliable AC in summer is unpleasant--but driving it through the single-digit cold of January 2026 without a working heater is unsafe and unacceptable. At least, that's what I thought. Mazda service showed no concern for my safety or well-being. I first complained about the AC and was dismissed when they "found nothing wrong." When winter came and the heat failed--along with a musty smell--I was told it wasn't urgent: just a duct cleaning and air filter. The earliest appointment that fit their schedule and my request for a loaner was February 9, so I waited five weeks. When I arrived, I was told I couldn't get a loaner because I had my dog with me, and that the repair would cost me. I still don't understand why I should pay for a climate system that's been broken since day one. To make it worse, the air filter was billed separately, nearly doubling the cost. I asked to speak with the service manager, Ivan Cordova, and finally reached him nearly five hours later when I picked up the car. He showed no concern, offered no apology, and when I asked if the problem was fixed after all the complaints and an almost $600 bill, his answer was simply: "No." Now ask yourself: Do I want an unreliable car? Do I want to be treated like this? Do I really want a Mazda? read more

I'd like to share two experiences with Riley Mazda: 1) During the height of COVID, Jesse, one of their excellent salespeople, leased a CX-30 to my father for a completely reasonable price. No hidden fees, no dealer markups due to shortages, no inflated residuals, no shady third-party banks, and no "what monthly payment works for you?" distractions. They gave him a fair deal--slightly under MSRP--through Mazda Financial, just like it should be. A straightforward transaction for an excellent product. 2) Fast forward to now: my turn to lease a Mazda. I started at a dealership closer to home in New York. Total opposite experience--classic sleazy tactics. Tried to slip in a third-party lender and play games. I won't name names, but let's just say they're in Yonkers. After that nonsense, I went to Riley in Stamford on my dad's recommendation to see if Jesse could help me out. My ask was simple: a CX-5 Premium Plus (blue or silver), Mazda buy rate, nothing down but taxes and fees. If he could knock a few grand off MSRP, even better. The man delivered. No BS, no runaround, just an honest deal that hit every target. Work with these folks--especially Jesse. They do things the right way, and in this industry, that's worth applauding. read more

For context: we've been going to Riley Mazda for service for 10 years. In the past, there have been a few times when I thought it might have been a tad more pricey than other local non-dealer options but it was fine. We continued to use their service due to our familiarity and proximity; we knew what to expect. However, recently our check engine light came on for our Mazda 5 and it's been worrisome. We have been driving a lot this summer, and a bunch of our trips required a lot of in-advance scheduling, so we could not move them. The fear was that we were going to do real damage to our engine driving the car _at all_. When it first came on, we took it early in the week, and expected by the end of the week. Service #1: they did a tune-up and said we had a bad gas cap causing the light issue; they did get it back to us by the end of the week. $300-ish ($200 tune, $100 cap/labor). We took a trip; the light came back driving up to Boston fairly quickly, and was on the whole way back. 3.5 hrs each way. Service #2: they said it was a solenoid that controlled air flow to the engine that was broken. Service cost $615-ish; the solenoid was $340-ish of that price, labor the rest. The check-engine light came on an hr into the way to Rochester, 4.5 hrs. And then it was on for the 5.5 hrs back too. In-between: we could not get the car serviced again before another Boston trip. We tried to get it in immediately after issues with service #2, they said they were too busy. We had to drive the Boston trip wondering if the engine was going to die. It did not have any issues that were obvious, other than the lit light for the 4 hrs one way, 5 (lotta traffic!) on the way back. Service #3: This is the 4th day after dropping it off for another attempt at fixing it; recently, they said they did not know what was going on and needed to get experts to help. They just called us back and said that there is a canister "that gets dirt and gunk in it" on the bottom of the car and that it needed replacement. They said they would cut the labor costs in half (since we brought it in 3 times) and that it would be $400+. Here's my frustration: I really wonder if we needed to pay that $615 for the solenoid replacement for the second service, or even the $100 gas cap. The check engine light came fairly quickly after we got the car back both times. It's frustrating because it has shaken our confidence in the overall service at the dealership. The car is getting older (11 years) and I am thinking that I should at least research other service options and other Mazda dealers in the broader area. We don't have a lot of leeway financially this year, so I want to know our options if it breaks again. Anyway, their previous services over the years were notably reliable. They drive you back to your house after dropping off the car, so for one direction that is fairly convenient. I did want to post the details of this ongoing attempt to get the car fixed to provide a balanced account of our experience. I gave it 2 stars rather than 1, because we seemingly had ok service in the past. And... at least they cut the third service cost somewhat. That does remind me... we got a strut replaced a month or so before this check engine light scenario happened. They did replace the strut fine, but we had an immediate rattle in the car afterwards - something about the strut was loose. We took it back and they fixed it free of charge. However, we had a _different_ rattle after that free fix. That rattle had not existed prior to the strut getting fixed. However, the rattle did get fixed when they replaced the gas cap. Hmm. I bought a Mazda about a year ago. Riley operates like an old school dealership that lacks transparency and honesty and sneaks in dealer add on charges at every opportunity. I was so disgusted with how Riley Mazda handled negotiations that I ended up buying my Mazda from another dealership. Since I'm a Stamford resident, and Mazda has a loyalty program, I thought I would give Riley another chance when we were looking for an additional car for our family. I encountered the same thing - dishonesty, lack of transparency and just a general "don't care" attitude. Not only were we denied the loyalty bonus on a technicality, they have cancelled our scheduled appointment to take delivery an hour before the appointment was to take place. When cancelling, they did not care one bit about our schedule (we really needed the car by the scheduled date) or that we had already put down a substantial deposit. No apology was made. Very unprofessional and rude. BE WARNED- you will not be dealt with fairly at this dealership! Go elsewhere ! read more

I don't understand the requirement to assign a star rating but I will do so in order to post this review. It should actually be zero stars but if I could give negative stars, I would. Absolutely the worst experience in over 45 years of purchasing cars. As background, I am currently leasing a BMW 330 which will expire shortly. With Mazda offering 0% financing and wanting to move up to an SUV type car, figured I would make the switch. I went into the dealership on a Thursday morning, found a particular model, color combination and trim line I liked, and spoke to the sales consultant, Vincent. We discussed and documented a price for that specific car. I already expected that I would need to deal directly with BMW to disposition my lease - but Vincent suggested that Riley Mazda might get me out of my lease as they have done this many times before. He had someone inspect my car and committed that he would let me know by the next day, Friday, whether Riley could/would take the BMW. I was clear in explaining that I needed to know quickly so I could make a decision and finalize the deal. And that's where the issues began. He assured me this wouldn't take a lot of time and I could expect a next day response. The next two days passed with no word from Vincent, so late Saturday afternoon, I called his cell and left a message. By Tuesday midday, I still heard nothing from him. I then sent an email to Vincent and Curtis, sales manager, outlining my frustration with the lack of communication and timeliness. At the end of the business day, I finally received an email from Vincent apologizing for the delay and explaining that he was "caught up in his moving for the past few days". (He never mentioned that there might be a delay or that he might be unavailable to work on this). Then he asked for my BMW account number since "his guy was having a problem getting a payoff number without it". If the dealership had done this so many times before, why did it take five days for them to ask for this? He finally responded Wednesday afternoon so I was at least pleased to understand how the BMW piece of the transaction would work. I responded immediately, as I still had a few questions on the actual price of the new car so again emailed asking for some clarification. I also asked that given the delays that were clearly their fault, whether they could do a little better on the price or do something to make up for the frustration and initial unresponsiveness. Their answer was what sealed the deal for me. First, my follow up questions weren't answered clearly. Worse, their bottom line was that while they were sorry for the delays, there was nothing they would do to compensate me for the lost time and frustration - the price was the price. Most importantly, I was then told that while I was waiting for them so I could finalize the deal, the car we negotiated was sold. This meant that I would have to take a different color with a different interior - a combination I specifically said I did not want. Bottom line for me - after a week of wasting my time and being frustrated, there is no car. I sent a final email yesterday to Vincent, again copying Curtis, this time expressing my anger at the dismissive nature with which I was treated. I left them with two questions: - Why should I now purchase a car in a color combination I don't want after we negotiated on a different car? - Why, after all the frustration and delay that I endured through no fault of my own, would the dealership be unwilling to do anything to create some goodwill? Throughout this whole process, Vincent apologized several times which means nothing to me unless he actually planned to do something to help the situation. If you need to say "I'm sorry" or "I do apologize" at least five times, it becomes more than a little patronizing. Further, the sales manager never bothered to get involved to try and "right the ship", so I don't expect that I will hear from them. That would be keeping in character with their dismissive unresponsiveness. It would be interesting to see if they respond to this review. But then, if they wouldn't respond to me personally, why should they do it publicly? If they do respond to this, it will probably be to discredit my account, but I stand by it 200%. In addition to both their behaviors being disinterested and dismissive, I would also call it deceptive and disingenuous since they didn't appear to have any interest in seeing this transaction through to closure. read more

I bought a seemingly new 2020 Mazda CX-5 with 18k miles from this dealership a little over 3 months ago and I had nothing but problems buying it. Rich is a bone head, he was so frustrating to work with and lacked any kind of responsiveness. He tried to sell me a car with the entire back bumper scraped up and the windshield cracked, claiming he couldn't see the imperfections. I also asked for something in writing detailing out the inspection of my car (i.e. tire tread levels, brake pad thickness) and I never received it. I probably asked 6 times and Rich acted like I had never brought it up before but promised he would get it over to me. Didn't happen. My brakes squeak and my oil pressure light is on at 20k miles. You may get a good deal here but so not worth it. read more

We leased a new Mazda CX-30 from Riley. The whole process was very easy and quick - salesman RJ Santiago was great with respect to our test drive and his knowledge of the car overall. They found us the exact car we wanted and we love it! There was one issue with a mis-calibrated sensor in the passenger seat which was a manufacturing issue, and the service department took the car in on the first day and got it repaired that day. The service people were great. We have already put over 100 miles on the car just driving it for the pleasure of it (Zoom Zoom!) RJ Santiago was great. I like dealing with sales people who are laid back, positive, and answer my questions. RJ did all three. I understand that he has a job to do, and he's expected to try to sell you things, but he was not aggressive at all. He got me a deal on what I wanted to add (Apple CarPlay) and did not push me when I declined an offer to finance through the dealer instead of my bank. Therefore, I felt heard. I bought a 2018 Mazda 3 that was ready when I got there. The small dent they promised to fix was gone like it was never there. Delivery of the vehicle took less than an hour. I am very fortunate to have stopped at Riley Mazda in Stamford, Connecticut, and to have worked with Ivan in the service department. I was driving on the Garden State Parkway in NJ when I noticed the check tire pressure warning light up on the dashboard. I stopped at the rest area at the northern end of the parkway and filled my tires with air. But the check air pressure light never went off. I stopped at Riley Mazda in Stamford on my way to Vermont. This was on a Friday afternoon, yet Ivan told me not to worry, that he would take care of me..and my 2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback. A service technician found a nail in my left rear tire! He removed it, patched my tire, and I was able to continue my journey. If I hadn't stopped at Riley Mazda, I shudder to think what could have happened. Many thanks to Ivan! read more

As a returning customer I never dreamed of being treated so poorly by @rileymazda. Terry the salesman was great but the manager was downright unhelpful after I pointed 5 errors in the CPO checklist. "So you want something for this?" He asked- yes - I told him his ignorant staff had failed to follow the @mazdausa, #mazda CPO checklist and ran a line through the OK column. I would think at least an apology. Nope- @rileymazda doubled down on their refusal to abide by the word replace NOT inspect. When I pointed out that all the previous owners data was filled stored in HMI, management shrugged and said they would delete it if I wanted- sorrry Jonathan al-previous owner - I now have all of your contacts and personal documents I found in the owners manual. A true old school red light warranty - when you can't see the lights the warranty is over! I have been instructed to take the vehicle to another Mazda dealer to understand my legal options. I would give a negative rating if I could. Beware people! Never had a more disappointing sales experience! My car sales person Fatos was rude and full of attitude. Why would anyone even put such a person in the front office? And guess what.. he's their Master Sales Consultant! Riley is the only Mazda dealership in the vicinity, and I guess this has got into their head. They couldn't care about customers any less. They are never certain about their inventory, and never meet the promised deadline to deliver. They get customers only because of their pricing. As I mentioned, we don't have a lot of options around Stamford and so my friend went there and had a horrible car buying experience as well! They couldn't get a car for him in time because of which the deal went over to the next month after which on the delivery day they even refused to honor a discount they'd given him saying that the offer was not valid this month. All this on the delivery day and as if it was his fault if they couldn't locate a car in time. They told they'd give me a referral bonus of $50 (which is shitty I know), but they didn't honor that too! Like seriously.. saving 50 bucks?? I would highly recommend you to go somewhere else, and stay away from these bunch of crooks if you want anything close to a satisfying car experience. read more
