He ultimately had a degenerative brain disease which explained his behavior and matched what the trainers had been seeing. Instinct not only has experience with difficult cases but they specialize in them. I learned more than I thought possible through them. They saw the best in my boy and have helped me heal. Yes, this is pricy, relatively speaking- yes, results may not be instant; yes, the trainers will be honest with you about your dog and the dynamics in your life that may be impacting things. The idea is to coach the owner while training the dog so that the frequency and intensity of training decreases over time, thus the price not only goes down over time but pays itself back on feelings of confidence, safety, and in having a team to back you up for life. I would hope that pet insurance is something that owners have looked into. Trupanion in particular has an excellent behavioral package. Unfortunately adopting a dog is not as simple as "with a good home and love, any dog can become a wonderful pet." Genetics and upbringing have to with it. Places like Instinct understand this and are essential and unique. They don't shame their owners or judge the dogs, it is what it is, and what a relief to have an outside pair of eyes help out, because as everyone reading this knows, by the time you look for a place like this you're feeling emotionally spent, scared, and hopeless already. We traveled hours to get there and don't regret a second of it.

Alex and Anthony are the two worst individuals I have ever spoken to or dealt with. They take 2/3 of the money from the program leaving their trainers with the other 1/3 and do not pay them for months. We left our dog for 30 mins and chose to return to pick him up as he was left in a very unsafe, cramped and dangerous situation. I will never work with them, and encourage everyone thinking about using them to stay far away if you care about your pet. Money hungry, dog abusing capitalists.

Samantha changed my life with my dog! I adopted Riley 3 years ago and he came with some…read morebaggage...dog aggression, stranger aggression, etc. I worked with another trainer when I lived in Arizona who taught me some tricks to help manage his aggression on walks, but it was mostly reactionary and didn't teach him any new behaviors. After we moved to NYC, things started escalating and got even worse. He would bark and lunge for dogs as they passed on the street, sometimes working himself into such a frenzy that he'd bite me if I got in the way. Worried that I'd eventually have to give him up if he kept behaving this way, I started thinking about giving training another try. I'm so happy I did! Samantha's training method has helped recondition Riley and teach him that his old behavior is wrong while also praising him when he behaves well. We're still working through it, but I can now walk him through Central Park without worrying about getting bitten or having him bite someone else - and he only continues to get better at it every day!

Thank you, Amanda Gagnon Dog Training, for helping us train our shorkie puppy, Kiki! Kiki graduated…read morefrom their puppy kindergarten course, which was a great way for us to learn how to train her as well as for her to get some puppy playtime! Denver is incredible with both the puppers and their humans. Kiki also had two private training sessions with Sam (who's fantastic), attends AGDT's puppy day school, and puppy socials - plus, one of their dog handlers watched over night Kiki while we were out of town on a five-day trip. All of our experiences have been positive. Kiki is always excited when we enter the building, loves everyone she encounters (other dogs and all the trainers), and comes home exhausted from the playtime and mental stimulation. While it's all very expensive, we view it as an incredible upfront investment in the health and well-being of our pupper.

Stacey's training worked fine in that case but I decided to try something new. She responded unprofessionally. Here service is expensive but enticing because she offers to train the dog with no work on your part. The second time, we adopted a puppy. After a week he started biting. Stacey assured us that she could help. So we kept the dog for a year, spending thousands of dollars with Stacey. Then our dog walker refused to walk our dog anymore because he was too dangerous which means we, a family with two young children definitely should not keep him. Stacey responded very badly. She was defensive and tried to get us to pay her more money to retrain the dog and was really rude about it. I regret using her. Without her bad advice the dog would have been sent back within a week saving all parties (especially the dog) a bad experience. I highly recommend you stay away.

I have only had one evaluation so far so I'll be back for a follow-up…read more I have a rescued pit-mix who has some issues so I called WWW for an evaluation, thinking I'd take her to the Growl Class, a special class for naughty dogs. Stacy and an assistant met with me and my dog Cola for 90 minutes, watching her with other dogs and asking very detailed questions. I was impressed with her methodical attention to detail and seemingly no-bullsh*t manner. She asked me what my goals were and told me what Cola and I would need to do to reach those goals. She said Cola could probably do a regular obedience class even though she has some leash aggression, which was good to hear. But Stacy assured me she was being honest and not just telling me what I wanted to hear. On the downside, she doesn't come to Brooklyn so it's kind of a treck but we loved the 2 plus hour walk home over the bridge! Also it's QUITE pricey for an evaluation but so far I think it's worth it.

New York Wolfpack has changed our little girl's life! Nomi was struggling a lot with reactivity,…read moreanxiety, and needed help building her confidence so she could feel comfortable around other dogs. Walks used to be a miserable experience for Nomi and we'd often find her hiding in the bathroom when it was time for one. Thanks to New York Wolfpack, our sweet baby gets excited to go outside! She's confident around other dogs both on leash and off, respectful of boundaries, and extremely obedient with all general cues. New York Wolfpack will give you and your dog a rock-solid foundation and the tools you need to continue training on your own. In addition to all the incredible work they did with Nomi, it can't be understated just how much she loves it there! Her tail starts wagging whenever we get within a block of the facility for a follow-up session and she greets Doug with big hugs and kisses like a second daddy. We cannot recommend New York Wolfpack enough. Your dog will get the help they need, in a safe and caring environment, while falling in love with them in the process.

She was so loving and sweet but was already 2.5 and didn't have any socialization with dogs, showed signs of being neglected, wasn't that trusting with humans in her space (particularly men), and totally overwhelmed by the chaos of FiDi. Before NY Wolfpack, her main issues involved: - Tugging like a maniac on leash - Got into a couple "arguments" at the dog park (terrifying for any owner) - Developed separation anxiety, would poop and pee at home alone - Fearful of men in our apartment, would bark a lot At first, we tried some trainers that used positive reinforcement only. Honestly, didn't do much. ----- NY Wolfpack changed our lives ----- She went for a 6-week board + train program (we cried dropping her off, that is totally normal and sad and scary but I'm telling you - best decision we ever made). They introduced us to the right training tools (e-collar, crate, prong collar, "chip" rewards, etc.). - We learned a tremendous amount about Roxanne's personality type - She is wonderful off-leash, has amazing recall, and we trust her - Is MUCH better with loose leash walking and is a ROCKSTAR at heel - Loves her crate and cozies up in there when home alone - Is non-reactive to dogs, runners, bikes, etc. - Learned to trust us with people in the apartment and the "quiet" command ... the list goes on Roxanne gets SOOOO many compliments about how obedient, well-trained and wonderful she is now. It's all thanks to Doug and Talia. It's been a full year since we sent her to Wolfpack but they helped us through the transition, are always available for at-home private training sessions, and to answer any questions via mobile. If we decide to adopt another pup (down the road), we will 100% send them to NY Wolfpack. Seriously, thank you!!
