Very good food and a very warm welcome when you walk in! Our waiter was very nice as well. We started with burrata and another appetizer special, both were good but I was a little surprised at how small the portions were. For my meal I had spaghetti carbonara, which was a huge portion (as were all the other meals). Everything was delicious! read more

This is one of the Arthur Ave staples of Italian dining. The decor & furniture reminds my of my Italian aunt's or grandmother's houses circa 1980. It definitely needs a face-lift. The staff all seem to have been there for decades and deliver service with a mixture of a small amount of charm and large amount of blue collar gruffness. I have been here before and the food is above average, southern Italian red sauce fare. We all definitely enjoyed our meals, but no one was blown away either. The service is good, but again, nothing amazing. My most recent visit was for drinks before dinner at another area restaurant. Drinks were served promptly, but when we asked for a little bread, things went south. We went from guests to pariahs. After we got the bread, side plates and butter, we asked for knives. How else are you supposed to apply butter to bread? It was at this point, the bartender reveals to us that we are kind of being pains and that she isn't really supposed to give bar guests bread who are only there for drinks. Maybe you should have told us this BEFORE you gave us the bread? At this point we felt uncomfortable and the whole thing turned awkward as we were the only bar guests. I will chalk up the way we were treated to the blue collar gruffness thing. I will probably come back and give them another shot. read more

About 7 years ago, I came to this place with my uncle and was completely blown away by how amazing the food was. I went with my family this past Thursday, and was pretty disappointed. First off, we made a reservation for 630, but we were running early. I called the restaurant to check to see if they could accommodate us at 6. I was told 'no problem, come on down!'. We got there at 6 and were forced to wait 30 minutes for a table. I ordered the veal, and was served a piece of shoe leather that was overly salted. My wife and sister ordered cheese ravioli, and were served what tasted exactly like spaghettios - I am not exaggerating. The sauce was watery and tasted exactly like the sauce from a can of chef boyardee ravioli... The ravioli themselves we're mushy and overcooked, and the cheese was gross. I will say that the fettuccine was passable, but definitely nowhere near as good as my first experience. Very sad that this place has gone downhill as much as it has. Hopefully they can turn it around. read more

A-ok about sums it up. The person I was with REALLY talked with place up so I had fairly high expectations. The surrounding area is charming - lots of little butcher shops, a fresh fish store and some bakeries, plus the excellent Arthur Ave Market. Rigoletto does have an advantage over some of the other places on the street as has a private parking lot. Our lunch started off with a small plate of freshly made bruschetta and some chunks of cheese from a wheel in the center of the dining area. It was delicious. The actual entrees?? Well...it was pretty "ok". I had pesto linguine and it was about average. I liked the bit of red pepper that was in the sauce but overall the dish lacked flavor - a little salt probably would have helped. My partner got a slab of salmon with a mustard sauce and green beans - the fish was cooked very nicely but the sauce wasn't the best complement to the fish -it was a little overpowering. Service? Nice but not terribly attentive. Portions? Ginormous - and this is coming from a Midwestern girl. Ambiance? Well, I can't speak for the evenings but there were certainly some "characters" hanging out that looked a lot like Uncle Junior and may or may not have been discussing show-no work construction jobs. All in all, I certainly enjoyed Rigoletto as an experience. Don't go expecting the best Italian food ever - go and expect decent Italian-American food in a "old school" neighborhood and you'll be very happy. read more

After getting my family excited about going to Little Italy for brunch, I had to make promises to make up for it afterwards. I used to eat here a lot many years ago. I even had large parties here for my office. So it was very shocking to me that the food was so disappointing. We ordered lasagna and chicken cutlet dishes. The ingredients were definitely fresh. The issue was that the food was flavorless. The stale bread should've been an indicator that we were in for a less than pleasant experience. I'm surprised that Pasquale's gets such good reviews on this site, as its not well received elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I like Pasquale's. I like the little dish of bruschetta and cheese that they give you before you order, which is delicious. I like how its big enough that you don't have to worry about reserving usually as they'll be tables open (not necessarily the best in the house, but you know what I mean). I like how its good for kids. I like the big portions, and the solid waitstaff. I like that its a very reliable place on Arthur Ave, which may have a few good restaurants, also has some crappy ones However, when you get down to it, the food isn't what it could be. For instance, their linguini and calamari is made well, with the many parts of the squid in the sauce (even heads!); however, the seafood overpowers the tomato sauce, and I wish the portion wasn't as massive so that the price tag could be lower. Other dishes, like the ravioli/meatballs/sausage combo are a mixed bag. The ravioli are ok, and the sausages are great (as should be expected on Arthur Ave), but the meatballs are completely devoid of flavor. This place is definitely good and very worthwhile, but it isn't the best in Belmont and damn sure not NYC read more

FYI, there are no reviews that say anything about having gluten free options, or being good with food allergies. But they were absolutely great. And they do have gluten free pasta as an option. And the staff could not have been nicer. Plus everything we got was beautiful, generous portions, lots of free bread, tons of dessert options (not gluten free or dairy free), and very attentive. Overall this place was a good spot for Italian American comfort food. They had all the basics you'd expect - spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna, ravioli, etc. I settled for the Spaghetti Carbonara and Chicken Cacciatore - both were good. The carbonara was just a bit too creamy and watery than I'm used to having, but it was still very rich and flavorful. The chicken cacciatore was very good - savory chicken that was not overcooked and still very tender to the bite. They do provide huge portions so when our lunch was over, we did not have dinner that night. I went to Pasquale's Rigoletto before a Yankee Game due to a recommendation from a friend. So of course I was delighted in seeing the yankee insignia painted on the door. They started off with a great spread with the bread, consisting of brushetta and cheese swimming in delicious olive oil. The table started off with the gnocchi with bolognese sauce. Gnocchi was a little mushy, but the sauce was amazing. My main dish was chicken scarpariello. Sausage was ok, but the olive oil that was mixed in with the dish tasted a little short of heaven. Service could have been a little friendlier and the prices could have been a couple dollars cheaper, but great food always over shadows the bad service read more

After a lovely time enjoying the orchids at the Botanical Gardens how can you miss not enjoying some good Italian cuisine on Arthur Blvd? We were hungry and it was early so many of the restaurants weren't open yet for dinner service. Luckily Pasquale was open and menu satisfied everyone. The restaurant looked much bigger with the mirrored wall and pleasant interior. Our peppy server was funny and ready to take our order. We had the veal and lamb shank entrée and my other friend had the pasta and calamari. The pasta cooked al dente and the shanks was tender and well seasoned. All the entrees could easily be shared by two people. It was a good day in the Bronx. Lots of flower photography and a satisfying Italian dinner. It seems that they have their regular customers which you can tell know each other in this family-like environment. They even had a singer which was nice. The hostess was an ill-mannered woman who threw our menus on our table and walked away without saying anything. Although the restaurant was half empty, we were kept waiting and the staff ignored us. Best red sauce I've had in a long time, with the exception of one or two places in the city. Never had a bad meal here. However, this time we were served a sparse basket of bread end pieces when we came in. Didn't get any additional bread even after asking 3 different busboys for more bread. I understand not serving the chunks of imported Parmesan, etc. any longer because of prices going up, but bread they can get across the street. I'll still give five stars as I prefer this place over the others I've tried in the neighborhood. read more

Been coming here my whole life (since the place opened its doors around 27 years ago). Went last saturday with my whole family for my grandma's 90th birthday. There were 17 of us, and we had a reservation for 8:00pm. Got there a little early and had to stand in the completely packed bar area for our table to be ready. WIthin minutes, we were seated, served water and the friendly waiter dropped multiple plates of freshly made, garlicky bruchetta and chunks of delish parm cheese. We ordered a feast- probably had about everything on the menu: clams, mussels, mozz and tomato, stuffed artichoke, veal, gnocchi, osso bucco. Each thing was as good as the last. But what set this place apart from every other place down in the REAL Little Italy (Arthur Ave) was the entertainment. An array of comical, talented singers took turns singing old show tunes, italian folk songs and of course, happy birthday to my 90 year old grandma. One of the most fun nights I can remember in a long time. Good food, music and company. For an amazing experience, this place shouldn't be missed. read more

Savor all the sights, sounds and smells of the real Little Italy during your walk, and daydream about the bruschetta you'll get as soon as you're seated. Friendly service is met with only the freshest ingredients. Entrees are wonderful, but I can't stay away from simple pasta dishes like the fettuccine alfredo or bolognese. If you sit in the larger back room, you'll be surrounded by a mural of Arthur Avenue, complete with local legends painted in. And save room for dessert. This place has everything I look for in an Italian restaurant. The service was amazing, the menu was great, and the food was delicious with large portions! I only wish it was in a different part of town for next time I visit or to recommend to a friend who visits. What a disappointment this place was. And I'd really like to emphasize how disappointed I am with all the Yelpers that gave this place high ratings, leading me to believe it was a safe bet for some quality Italian food. I could not contain my disappointment as I ate the food here. It was bad enough that my first choice for a restaurant, Antonio's (which I'd researched meticulously on Yelp), was closed for whatever reason. Then option two, Zero Otto Nove was also closed. Bummer. But then to come here feeling confident with all the 4-star ratings and cumulative 4 on Yelp, I was somewhat appalled. Appalled that Bronxites would consider this GREAT Italian food. Appalled that such mediocrity can even survive in this city of such spectacular foods. Now let me say that this place wasn't completely bad, thus the 3-stars. But for the price, for being on this famed avenue, for being in New York, this place fails for being average when it should be SPECTACULAR. I started with the clam vongole appetizer in red sauce. All I can say is thank the lord for that red sauce. The sauce was delicious but it couldn't make up for the chewy, nearly impossible to eat clams. It was a task just to eat them and really set the tone for the meal. I mustn't forget though that I had before this app received the bruschetta and parmesan in oil, which were both great and had me feeling good about Rigoletto. Then, we followed with an order of the pollo ala scarpariello, which like so many items on the menu sounded so delicious on paper. Chicken and sausage. Wonderful. Except for when it arrived. Again, the sauce was excellent, but the chicken was bland and had absorbed little to none of the sauce's flavor. It seemed to me that on this quiet Monday evening, they hadn't taken the time to properly marinate the chicken and had hastily thrown the meal together. As a complement to the chicken dish, I ordered the red fettucine alfredo, only to find it suffered all the same deficiencies. The pasta was bland despite an impressive sauce. I couldn't hide my disappointment. Because of my considerable hunger, I ate plenty, and as I ate more the food began to taste a bit better, perhaps because the key ingredients had had more chance to soak in the good sauces, but by this time my mind was set. As my 3-star rating and tip of the hat to the sauces will attest, this places isn't bad. But on Arthur Avenue or anywhere else in NYC (perhaps the world, really), not being bad doesn't cut it and big disappointments result. Oh, and all this nonsense about the ambiance being like some old Italian this or that. Give me an effing break. This place was not in the least bit attractive or charming. Nasty, unfriendly service. I'm not sensitive & don't need my ass kissed, but they're just rude & mean. The only one that acts decent is the blonde lady with pink hair. I liked my chicken parm but my friend got the ravioli and it was nothing special. The sauce was very watery. I enjoyed the baby calamari but the baked clams were NOT good. Where do I even begin. I came here 5 years ago on a date, and came back this past weekend to celebrate our wedding! Initially Pasquale was supposed to be our rehearsal dinner venue, but given our need to downsize during COVID, it became the wedding reception dinner! First of all, Vinny coordinates the events and he was simply a joy to work with. Even with multiple changes during this time, he was very flexible and focused on making sure our party had a great time. Compared to other restaurants on Arthur Ave, he offered the most reasonable deal for a large party. The night of the event, the service was great and they accommodated us flawlessly- even providing a speaker so we could improvise and dance to our wedding song! Last but not least, the food. It's what we enjoyed on our date 5 years ago and brought us back for our wedding! The appetizers were great- calamari, mozzarella sticks (many were raving about these) and the burrata. My husband got the chicken parm and I got the linguine pesto, the rest of our party got a variety of things and were all very happy with their meals. We had a fantastic time here. The food was excellent, the service was probably the best I've experienced on Arthur Ave and the ambiance was quaint, quiet and comfortable. Hard to pick favorites. We went with what the waiter recommended and it was all tremendous. The cheese and bread is a nice touch when you sit down. The clams for an appetizer were perfect and the pasta could not have been better. They had an excellent cheesecake for dessert (which I usually don't eat but we were in a big group and just went with the waiter's recommendations.) All in all this is a spot i plan to return to on every visit. read more
