I did my due diligence before hiring Rigid Masonry and checked the Arizona ROC website for the status of their license. I wanted a licensed contractor to insure there was no complications with the construction and I was within all legal rights to have a fence built on my property. I wanted my project designed by a engineer which it was, I wanted a project with no complications. There was a active license on the Arizona ROC website with Travis Zinner the owner of Rigid Masonry. We put down a sizeable deposit with Rigid Masonry on the construction of a block wall, and a retaining wall. For a permit to be issues the retaining wall had to be designed, engineered and structurally built to meet the requirements of Pinal county. The engineering plans set us back months until the wall could be started. Somewhere during this time the license of Rigid Masonry was no long active, it had been either suspended or revoked. In so being the owner of Rigid Masonry never informed us that they no longer had a license to do the work. Pinal county inspected the construction twice, the trench was wide enough nd deep enough. There was enough rebar laid to add strength to the concrete footer. Pinal county never said anything at this point that there was a construction problem and to stop work. When the wall was 70% complete we received a notification from Pinal county to stop work. The wall was being built in accordance with the permit Pinal county approved, but now Pinal county is disputing that permit. With our attorney we had appear before the Pinal county board of supervisors to plead our right to complete this wall. One of the newest supervisors on the board who made the most sense said we have issues these people a permit and the wall is built according to this permit so who would pay to demolish this wall. The wall was allowed to be finished. During this time Rigid Masonry had abandoned this project which is why we hired a attorney. Rigid Masonry made no attempt to meet with the Pinal county board of supervisors or argue in support of the permit we paid for under our cost of construction to Rigid Masonry. At this time Rigid Masonry which when I later checked the Arizona ROC website, Rigid Masonry had no active license. After the Pinal county stop work order had been removed I called Rigid Masonry and informed them the wall could be completed. I was informed by Travis Zinner the owner of Rigid Masonry that when he has to stop and restart a job the client has to pay for that time loss. Travis Zinner told me that he would forgo the additional charge. Rigid Masonry has no license at this time. We had several change orders to this project, adding courses of block to the wall, extending the opposite wall. The construction of the retaining wall and privacy fence was complete. Rigid Masonry was paid in full and we were told a finalized approval of a signed off permit from Pinal county would be in our hands later that day. Within a week I receive a notification from Pinal county that my wall was not constructed per their directive on the plans of the permit. If I failed to correct this within their allowed time I was going to be fined for these violations. I hired what I thought was a professional licensed contractor who failed to follow directions. A complaint was filed with the Arizona ROC and a meeting was called. My attorney was also present and Travis Zinner made a statement that I did not know how to handle Pinal county. He also said he refuses to work with any attorney. That statement should tell you that his business practices might be questionable at best. Travis Zinner abandoned the construction project when he walked away and failed to provide a signed final approved Pinal county permit, as he said he would. The Arizona ROC suspended Rigid Masonry license (which was already suspended) and told them they were to pay for the demo of the wall. Nothing was ever followed through or checked on. Rigid Masonry had no contact with me after the meeting was held on my property. I lost over $12,000 in this project. I had to have over 60 feet of wall totally demolished and courses of block removed. I paid for 40 feet of wall extension that if the fence was built correctly 30 feet of the 40 feet would have fallen under the cost of the initial construction cost. I was awarded for a second time the cost of demolition of the wall. Strangely as this seems, with Arizona law I am not awarded what I paid to have that section of wall built. I have to go through civil court for this. I also blame Pinal county. Totally incompetent. They inspected the footer for the wall, the trench before the rebar was laid and the concrete poured at least twice and in so being which plans did they themselves use to insure that the construction project was being built correctly. Why did Pinal county not insure that when Rigid Masonry filed a for a permit, that Rigid Masonry had a license of construction for a project of over $30,000.00? read more

My wall looks better than I had envisioned. I had a vision of what I wanted, privacy in one area, openness in another. Travis listened to me and he and his crew made it happen. It looks great. Even though they came across a couple stumbling blocks they overcame them, communicated with me about them and had the solution. And they still finished in the time frame that was quoted. Amazing. These guys do quality work and were very affordable. The business owner Travis Zinner, actually did most of the work himself, used quality materials, and got done in record time. Everything was exactly as we asked, and they took great care to ensure that we were satisfied every step of the way. The guys working with him were quick and friendly, and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. They didn't even seem to notice the heat, and afterwords we were truly impressed with the finished product. They revealed to me how much they care even before being hired: I called them numerous times over the course of the last 4 weeks. I left a message each time when I called and had the honor of being able to talk to their answering machine. None of these phone calls was ever returned. Our neighbors hired Rigid Masonry for their block wall around their entire backyard. We split the cost with them for the section of the common property line. The workers spent a LOT of time chatting and taking breaks throughout the first day when they were taking out the old wood fence and digging the holes. When they poured the concrete footer on the second day, luckily, our neighbor was off work so he could "supervise" the workers. They didn't pour a 12" footer so our neighbor had to point that out to them. They ended up pouring the correct (according to the contract) footer. On the third day, they starting laying bricks. They worked kind of sloppy, "forgot" to pour some concrete into the columns which needed to be pointed out as well by our neighbor. The crew noticed soon that they were running way behind schedule. They should have been done within 4 days, but there was no way! They left the construction site on the 4th day with the gates missing and a huge amount of dirt; promised they will clean up everything the next day. Next day, the gates were hung. But they were the wrong gates! I don't remember how many times we told them that we wanted to have the gates open the exact same way as they used to and they built both gates (neighbors and ours) wrong. When we pointed this deficiency out to the owner Travis, he shook his shoulders and said "Uhm, I guess that was a mistake." Really? No apologies, no accountability, nothing! When the workers left, there were HUGE piles of dirt left in both our backyards, there is stil a lot of overpour from the concrete footer which we have to break down ourselves. The "full cleanup" that was agreed upon in the written conract is a joke. I understand that we had to expect some dirt after this construction project, but we hauled away about 12 wheelbarrows of dirt (for a 25 foot long fence) and are still not done. I don't recommend to anyone to use this company if you would like to have quality work done all around. If we hadn't pointed out the deficiency with the footer and colums, they would have done a sloppy job without us even knowing. Not a customer service oriented business at all! Sloppy work, no accountability, absolutely not happy with the cleanup we homeowners have to spend our weekend on... If you are looking for quality work and cleanup, you are definitely better off to use Toro Construction. read more

Rigid Masonry did our courtyard wall, and it turned out beautifully. We were so happy with it that we ended up getting another courtyard wall in the back of our home. Both projects were affordable, and looked as if we had spent much more on it than we actually had. They really added to the curb appeal of our home. The owner did site visits during the project to ensure that the work was quality - and it was. My favorite part of the work was how they made the new wall match the original stucco exterior. You can't tell that it was added. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I hired Rigid Masonry in December 2015. I used them because they are a registered contractor for the work to be done. He also made mention that he was a ROC member, so if there was a problem, there is recourse. I have had work done before by a non-ROC member (which is not legal) and it was a disaster, so them being ROC was a necessity. I live on over 1 acre and had a wrought-iron fence around the pool area and it encloses the back of the house to create a small yard, like you would have in a subdivision. The iron fence needed to be torn down and I wanted a block wall fence to be installed with gates. The work was done to our satisfaction. Problem was that the blocks all have a white calcium edging to them. His workers said that will fade with time and it was caused by the manufacturer in their drying time. When cutting down by iron fence thy left bolts sticking up on our patio that Travis said they would remove. Didn't do that. it took them twice as long as they said they would do. I then asked if they do artificial grass. He said yes. I asked if the grass would be pet friendly in the summer, when it is hot. He said yes. Let me say that it definitely is NOT. I had to buy umbrellas and other shade so our dogs can walk on the grass and go to the bathroom. He started to install then. They needed to remove all my 3/4 " rock and dig out approximate 1 inch of dirt to lay the grass. After seeing it go in, we asked to increase the size of the grass area too much larger area. I also had a planting garden that we asked that he contour. He also promised that he would make sure that they rain would flow to the back and side walls. OK now the problems. -The block wall still shows white calcium or something on the blocks. Hasn't faded. -The yard doesn't drain, but fortunately we don't have a lot of rain. -They didn't contour the garden area like we asked. -When we did have grass seams he did come out. BUT only after I told hime the manufacturer said to use seam tape and a lot of grass nails, which they didn't do and had to come out to redo all the seams. They added a lot more nails. Per the manufacturer they didn't put in enough silica. They came back and added more. They did NOT spread the silica with a spreader like most do. Their men just grabbed a handful of silica and threw it down then brushed it in. -The bolts for the old iron fence were NEVER cut down and were a problem for dogs and kids stubbing their feet. I had to cut them out. -Travis said that he would buy a power broom to brush the grass better to make it stand upright. After 2 months of his promises, he finally told me he did things the right way and was done. I have saved texts to the contrary from him. He promised and didn't fulfill. -His men in hauling all the rock and dirt from yard and moving their quarter minus to put solid base for grass, chipped up my cool deck around the pool. I have had to hire a contractor to repair the paint that they damaged. I never told him, because he said he was coming back. -Also, I was led to believe that Rigid was a licensed contractor for the artificial grass, but they are ONLY licensed in block walls, NOT landscaping. I could take him to the cleaners to the ROC and I still may, but he has ignored ALL calls and texts. -It is now August (7 months after completion) and I still haven't heard from him. Yard still pools with water, I repaired chips in patio and pool decking, spread silica myself and an effort to remove the seams of the grass (which still show and bad in some areas), blocks still show white marks all over the yard. I spent in excess of $10,000. He does block walls fine, but took 2x longer than quoted and he is NOT a registered contractor to do landscaping. I like him, but he is all talk as far as solving problems and doing what he promised (even though much of it was verbal). Don't hire a non-registered contractor. I never should have had him touch my yard and install artificial grass. I have watched Youtube videos and they did not do it the way it was shown on them. read more

Left them a message and asked them to call me the next day to reschedule. They never even bothered to call me back. Very unreliable!!! read more

We hired Rigid Masonry to add some courses of block to an existing block wall surrounding our backyard. All the neighbors agreed upon the plan and looked forward to completing the project before summer. The workers arrived on schedule, but the project was partially unfinished due to lack of materials. The company also claimed to provide a "full cleanup," but we spent hours shoveling the left over concrete and rearranging the moved rocks. We paid in full that day with the agreement the team would return the next day to finish. Travis Zinner, the company owner, called to cancel the appointment the next day and said he was unable to complete the project due to "staff quitting". He then said he would mail a refund check, which has never been delivered. I have made several phone calls to him but never had a return call. My advice is never hire him or this company if you want honest work completed. read more
