I called to try to get an estimator out to check our roof and was surprised to hear the fellow answering the telephone tell me that they were booked solid, but for a $1000.00 fee, he could let me "Jump the Queue". With so many people having serious damage to their roofs, all over the city, I am certain that most roofers' telephones must have been ringing off the hook. I understand that they were heavily booked, but I feel that it is downright dishonourable to make that type of offer.

Everything appeared to be moving forward until just 4 days before the scheduled completion date, when the sales representative informed us they had "misquoted" the project and that it would now cost several thousand dollars more. This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Changing the agreed price at the last minute after a signed contract and deposit had already been provided put us in a very difficult position, especially now that most contractors are already booked for the summer season. We understand mistakes can happen, but honoring signed agreements and communicating accurate pricing are basic expectations. Unfortunately, our experience showed a lack of accountability and reliability, and we cannot recommend this company based on how this situation was handled.

He answered questions and explained what would be done, material to be used and pricing for any new plywood sheets that may need to be replaced. I then saw that they were replacing to roofs on two single family dwellings on a nearby street. I stopped by and watched them work. I was impressed with what they were doing and how they were doing it. When they attended to do ours, they were quick, no loud radio playing and clean-up was excellent. We were both very satisfied with the final finish. We both highly recommend Halco. Remember, not the cheapest, but listen carefully to the quote and explanations of others and I think you'll be impressed. Plus it has a written warranty which is transferable.

We chose Halco based on the initial interview, Larry answered all of our questions thoroughly and explained fully what the crew would do. We also had two excellent references. They started on the day they promised and were finished on time, and they did not a have a boom box radio blaring all day as our neighbours did who hired another company. The shingles looked good and are warranted for 50 years. Money was not not required until job was completed. Cleanup was done well, no papers, torn shingles or nails anywhere and no damage to our gardens. We would highly recommend Halco roofing.
