As soon as I got in touch, Zef scheduled multiple follow up consultations and visits to the home and provided a really clear description of the job at hand, time required and exact cost. Throughout the duration of the job, the Zef and the entire team updated me ASAP on any matters that required decision making or were not originally projected. I regret paying Zef. He ended up slipping out of my apartment without finishing and didn't come back. He asked me to write a review here when he believed I was clueless of his extremely poor work. The positive reviews don't at all reflect my experience, but I think that can be explained by me being a single woman. Zef was extremely manipulative and bullying towards me. Yelled at me for pointing out things like places that were painted, didn't use painter's tape so the paint was where it shouldn't be, holes, doors that don't close, air bubbles where the patched, no sanding where they patched, paint drippings, paint on my furniture, and more. According to him, painting a room does not involve sanding, removing old remnants, of using painter's tape. He told me that was skim coating. Since I know what skim coating, know how to paint and have read and watched many tutorials, I know none of this is true. But I spent the whole day arguing with him, because according to him none of the following are his job: 1. Sanding 2.Sanding or removing something if it was already there before painting 3.making sure my dishwasher that he removed and reinstalled was working or if it was broken during his work. He said he is not a plumber. Which he shouldn't be doing plumbing work, then. 4.Cleaning 5.Things they broke 6.snaking my drain after my super confirmed that the drain was filled with construction stuff that shouldn't have gone down the drain. Once, again, he's not a plumber. 7.Restoring my cabinets to the way they were. My wall needed to be replaced due to flooding, but I wanted to keep my 100 year old cabinets. Zef had promised me that they would put them back up and repair any damage the process caused. He left them with holes they drilled, pieces not attached, and the cabinet doors not closing. He told me I needed to sand them. I said they are misaligned, and has nothing to do with sanding. He finally had someone sand them. He handed me my keys, told me my cabinet doors close now and slipped out the door. I looked around and realized they had packed up and left and that now one cabinet door was stuck and the other two still wouldn't close. And they had just taken down the tape where I had marked things that needed to be fixed. 8.Applying paint everywhere on the wall or surface. And did some touch-ups with the wrong colors, but said I can fix that. I really could go on and on about how careless the work was done, only done with the intention of appearing done, promises not kept, and the days when no one came or only one person came for a few hours. It was clear that they were working on another project or projects and two weeks passed with very little progress and Zef just wanted to be done with my apartment. He was supposed to come back for two days to fix and do everything they didn't do. He came one day and slipped out of my apartment. The next day I walked past the Queensborough restaurant and saw him and his team working in there. He used them as a reference, but neither he nor they revealed that he is a part owner. I thought about saying he needs to come back and finish, but then I realized that I did not want Zef back in my apartment yelling at me and trying to belittle me. I'll pursue other avenues and make sure no one else has to go through the same experience. Having repairs and renovations are stressful enough and it is very hard to know if a contractor will do good work and be good to work with. I was fooled by how responsive Zef was and the assurances he gave me during the quote period. read more

We felt really fortunate to have worked with Zef for the renovation of our apartment. From our first phone conversation to the last walk through, Zef has been extremely professional, responsive, reliable, flexible, fair and gives great suggestions and ideas. It was remarkably easy and quick to set up an appointment and obtain a quote/proposal from Zef. His price was very reasonable compared to other contractors that we have contacted and gotten a proposal from. Zef's responsiveness and great price were the main reasons we chose to work with him. Zef was ready to start as soon as we got the approval from our co-op board and personally drove us to the hardwood floor retail shop. We were able to choose our own hardwood floor and were very satisfied with his suggestions and our final choice. We chose the same kind of wood that Zef had used in some of his own personal projects. The hardwood floor installation by Zef's crew was quick and beautiful. For a gut renovation of our kitchen, Zef suggested that we get our backsplash and tiles from Porcelanosa and accompanied us there so that we could get the contractor's discount. He also drove us to Home Depot to get the base molding. We also requested that Zef pick up several heavy items from IKEA and different colors of paint several times throughout the project and he always quickly obliged without complaining or charging us extra. When we decided to have IKEA perform the kitchen cabinet installation, Zef fairly decreased the price of the project. We were very satisfied with the painting the touch-ups that Zef and his crew performed on the apartment. Finally, Zef is very creative and has great solutions to design issues that came up unexpectedly in the project. To see an example of his personal style of interior design, we would suggest visiting The Queensboro in Jackson Heights. Zef designed and brought to life a chic and beautiful industrial decor space in the restaurant. Zef also put a lot of effort into making sure that we were satisfied with his work. What a wonderful experience we had working with Zef and Right Choice. He came to our house to assess our project (painting, fixing our walls, scraping windows, etc) and made a quick and affordable assessment of the scope of work and total cost. The work was completed quickly, efficiently, and neatly. When moving into a coop in Forest Hills, I had a tough decision to make regarding the Work to be done in my home. Zef, was the first to respond and was at my apartment the same day to put together a quote.
